Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesRooms on the ground floor have a distinct sewage smell. Purchased Glade autofreshner to help with room smell. Charges for everything - water, mint tea, anything outside first night. Other riads provide at least water. Rooms above ground floor require steep stairs No room to reception calling option If u r in top room, and need service, you are screwed to walk down. Very tiring steps.
Very nice host and service staff. Location is walkable to Medina Accommodate families Ok breakfast Provided milk for babies Moved us down to ground floor because stairs were dangerous for kids and high impact on my weak knee

United StatesThe bathroom - the bathtub had a glass door that wouldn't stay in place (had to wedge a tube under it) and the shower head/handle had such high pressure that the water would shot out the back of the tub and onto the bathroom floor, wetting it all. Being able to adjust the shower head so that it pointed more down would solve the problem. The light in the bathroom could also use a warmer tone - it seems very "clinical" in there.
The staff was AMAZING. Very helpful and informative. Helped us coordinate tours and gave great restaurant recommendations. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was great overlooking all of the medina (even though we felt bad the staff had to go up and down the stairs to serve us!). We weren't able to have breakfast the last morning and they packed us to go bags. They arranged porters for us early in the morning as well and helped us when we got there (it can be chaotic with all the locals trying to "help" you; we had rented a car and drove into Fes). The room itself was big and spacious and opened onto one of the inner courtyards. The extra heater in the bathroom was also super nice!

United StatesNone, everything was great. This is not a negative, but to make people understand the trade-offs of a riad structure. Please keep in mind, that being on high floors, means that numerous narrow stairs have to be navigated, so if you have mobility issues, keep that in mind when booking- this is true for most riads; rooms are either inward-facing with no outside view on lower floors but if you want a terrace view, be prepared to climb up; we loved it and knew that so we were not surprised; also not all rooms have attached balcony, please read the fine details; the staff helped bring our luggage to our room.
Le Grand Alcazar is truly grand in all respects from its architecture to its staff. A gem in the heart of Fes, the tone is set from the very top and ever since we booked the riad, Omar, one of the owners was very friendly, answering numerous details of not just Fes, but looked into providing us recommendations of our entire desert trip. When we arrived, Dua, treated us to Moroccan mint tea and refreshments and showed us the room; Youssef and his wife welcomed us in the evenings and when we felt uncomfortable returning from the medina on our first night, Youssef walked about 15 minutes each way to get us back from the restaurant. Breakfast begins at 8 am, however, on Omar's insistence the staff made it available to us at 7:30 am, to help us get started early for our long drive to the desert on the day of the checkout. Truly outstanding!! Our days in Fes were cut short due to a massive downpour; however, the riad provided us with umbrellas, and the appointed guide, Abdul- we booked through the riad was wonderful. He made sure that we covered our must-dos within a truncated day (reduced hours due to Ramadan and rain) and went over and beyond what was expected of him to ensure that we covered the ramparts later in the day when the rain stopped. The Grenat suite, our room was very ornate and traditionally decorated with a balcony attached to the room and easy access to the terrace; has a beautiful view of the medina and the ramparts. We chose it because of that and it didn't disappoint. Breakfast was excellent and served fresh to your table and not a buffet. One point, I want to mention is that drop-off in Morocco is not always in front of hotels; in the old city, they are often in alleys where it is not accessible by cars; in such a case, porterage from hotel to pick-up point becomes important; in Le Grand Alcazar, assistance was provided without any question; that was not our experience in some other riads; this is important and made a huge difference.

United StatesNot much. The property location was very convenient, the staff were very helpful. The room was great and we enjoyed our stay at Le Grand Alcazar.
Excellent decor, beautifully curved doors and walls. Outstanding staff, great breakfast. The room was very ornate and large. We stayed in Saphir suite and the ceiling was curved wood.

South AfricaProper shower cubicle in the bathroom. A small floor trap doesn’t help. Water from having a shower spreads all over the bathroom floor leaving it wet and unpleasant. More shelves/ hanging space would be a bonus. Breakfast. No water at breakfast.
Quiet location. Riad design and architecture well taken care of.

United StatesNothing- this riad exceeded all expectations and I highly recommend. Would stay here again.
Loved the location, the warm welcome upon arrival and the tea and cookies, the beautiful, clean, and well kept property, the upgrade to a beautiful suite, the rooftop and view of beautiful Fes, the delicious breakfast with eggs cooked to order and amazing breads and pastries and fresh juice and coffee. When we asked for a dinner restaurant suggestion the manager of the riad not only suggested an amazing restaurant but also had a guide escort us so we could find our way there easier. Service here is exceptional. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms have luxurious amenities. The staff are amazing and friendly and made every effort to ensure our comfort and safety (accommodated a food allergy).

United StatesI loved everything just be careful with the shower, the pressure was so amazing that I didn’t realize I was getting water all through the bathroom! Just don’t turn the water all the way up.
You will not be disappointed if you stay here! It is a really nice, kept up riad. Every room is beautiful! The bed was comfy, the AC worked great, they make sure you get escorted to dinner if needed, so you don’t get lost. My luggage was delayed by the airline and the riad made sure to get my laundry done before I left the next morning since I didn’t have extra clothes yet. Breakfast was sooo good, eggs included. Every staff member was so nice and polite. Stop scrolling you should stay here!

SpainThere was some confussion with the payment in dirhams (It was higher than the one accorded in euros). Another disgusting issue was with the car parking. The hotel indicated that they had personal working for them and the price was included with the room payment, although they didnt have a parking. Finally you are forced to pay to a person in the street which is supposed to be a vigilant. All this things should be more clear and transparent!
The Riad is very nice and well located. The breakfast has good quality.

ItalyThe Dahlia suite is more of a large room for 3 people, rather than a suite for 4. It is advertised as having a living room and a separate bedroom, while there is no separation at all. Bathroom is also quite small and the shower is ill-designed (impossible not to wet the floor when you take it).

Superb array of regional breakfast pancakes a multitude of other delicacies. Delicious.more like brunch. As well superb addition to original Palace, which I called the Blue Wing, with a lovely basin (not a pool), the Rose Salon cum dining area. Cool, refreshing and as authentic as Moroccan/Andalusian architecture is. Kudos to the Twins for accomplishments during the awful calamity COVID that befell the entire world. IrelandPool was tiny and freezing. Perfect for coming in from heat outside to dip your body in to cool, but not swimming due to size.
The actual Riad is just stunning. The building interior is exquisite, like building art internally. Youssef the manager dude was great. Anything we needed, he was there to facilitate and he’ll with. Lovely balcony for sunset terrace. Fes was a maze of madness, so getting back into the Riad was like a welcoming cool and safe place.
