Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NicaraguaWe had an incredible time in Mohammed's place. We had basically a whole apartment for ourselves, and Mohammed was extremely welcoming and friendly. From this place you have an incredible view of the dunes. Walking from the hostel to the dunes is like a minute walk. And walking from the hostel to the center of the town is about 5 minutes. The place has internet and it was fast enough for us to do a little bit of work. Mohammed also gave us lots information about the tours you can take in Merzouga, so don't book your tours in advance as you can get a better price. We will definitely go back. It was a wonderful experience.

AustraliaThere is nothing I can think of I didn't like.
I was very lucky Mohamed gave me an apartment. I was in this hostel before and I extended 2x this time around. The breakfast is great and you get a lot not only the usual. The view from the rooftop is amazing I never get sick of that. I also loved the view from the gate, I wanted to leave but asked myself how can I go when will I see this again so I extended and extended. As I have been in this hostel before I started to use different ways of getting to the center, the people in this town are so lovely.

GermanyAll great! :)
What an amazing hostel! We had a whole apartment (with a kitchen, bathroom, and living room) to ourselves. It is located just in front of the dunes, and you have the nicest view from the rooftop. There are many cheap restaurants around the corner, but we also had a great breakfast in the hostel. The owner was super friendly and helpful, and we could store our luggage in the hostel while we were staying in the desert.

LithuaniaI don't think I have enough words to describe the hospitality of this place and Mohamed. My bus broke and I arrived in Merzouga only around 3 AM, Mohamed still came to pick me up from the bus station and even offered me some breakfast. Every morning of my one-week stay, breakfast was delicious and they adapted to my preferred breakfast time. The place itself is in a quiet location, within walkable distance from the largest dune, so you can enjoy breathtaking desert sunsets by yourself easily. Also, it's only 10 minutes walk from the village centre, in case you need some shopping. The Wi-Fi connection was strong, I could work from the place with no problems. Also, Mohamed taught me how to cook chicken Tajine and organised camping with nomads taking care of every single detail. So far, it's the best accommodation and host I ever had, can't wait to be coming back!

Czech RepublicAmazing location just next to the desert, easy to the city center for food and groceries, walkable from bus station. Beds were comfy and everything was clean. Great owner, he was able to manage a quad ride for me, even though I was alone for a good price and woke up early to serve me a breakfast, because I had to leave early in the morning.

ThailandThe place is very well located. The staff was awesome. There I had the feeling of belonging to a small community, that was really nice. Arriving at Merzouga, someone offered me to do a camel ride for 200 dr. At the hostel, I could have one for 100 dm. My guide was little Mohamed. Big shout out to him, even though he was really young, he was really professional and I spend a really good ride with him. All the best to you all

GermanyTook us a while to find the hotel. Sign is already in the making, the host told me.
Hotel just minutes away from the desert. Highly recommend walking up the big dune at sunrise or sunset. Great value for money. Clean rooms. Delicious breakfast with many different kinds of food. Had the most interesting and profound conversation with a Moroccan during my whole trip with the host who shared his perspective of different aspects of his country with me in English.

Clean, spacious room very near the tallest dune in Merzouga. Breakfast was generous even by Moroccan standards. I had to catch the early morning bus on my last day and the owner prepared breakfast just for me and gave me a ride to the bus station. Couldn't have asked for more.
