Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe host was very welcoming and knowledgable on the local area, including organising a tour in the desert on a very short notice. He welcomed us very late in the evening and even provided us dinner. Very nice alternative experience to staying in one of the larger camps in the desert.

GermanyWe arrived in Merzouga in the evening and were welcomed with tea and snacks before indulging in the most delicious dinner we had in Marocco. Sleeping in one of the tents and waking up for the sunrise, hanging out with the dromedaries, and meeting Lhou and his family... We truly couldn't have asked for more, except for more time maybe :) If you are planning on exploring the dunes and making the most of your time in and around Merzouga, make sure to talk with Lhou before booking another tour online. He has his own dromedaries, knows people in town and will be able to help you put together the desert experience of your dreams. I cannot wait to be back one day!

SpainNothing really, everything was super😊
It was super pure experience, like the desert should be. But pure with commodity as well. The tangine is the best I have tried in the whole Morocco, highly recommend! Lhou is the kindest and most honest host I’ve met in Morocco, I am very grateful to him. Definitely if I go back to Merzouga I’m coming here!!

Hassan was an amazing host. The atmosphere of the place was very authentic, peaceful, safe and very clean. Even though you experience the berber camp feeling you have everything you need. The breakfast was extremly generous, could feed a whole family, big variety and you shouldn't miss Hassan's and his family's dinner, which was the best in our trip. Hassan has his own dromedars and will arrange you any kind of trip you want. If you are lucky Hussain will be your tour guide and your day will be packed with lots of laughs and smiles.

United KingdomI know it's supposed to be good for you but damn I had a rough time sleeping on those firm mattresses. Easily fixed by putting a wee blanket underneath the sheet, and to be fair I didn't mention it to L'hou so he might have had a stash of ultra-luxe mattresses in the back! Legit Berber experience tho- these dudes don't carry around stupid big mattresses! Again, authenticity! I guess this bad comment turned out to be quite good... Also just to say I object to the union flag on these reviews! I'm from SCOTLAND YO
Nomad Bivouac outstrippingly exceeded my expectations in every single aspect- i loved every second of my time in Merzouga and it's mostly because I was able to just cruise back home to the most chill, beautiful little courtyard in the desert and watch the stars. 'Berber' means "free man", and i genuinely felt like a free man when i was here. No pressure, no hassle, just honesty, good vibes and a safe, comfortable place to stay before heading out for more wandering in the desert. The location won't be for everyone because it's like a 15 min walk from the main madness of Merzouga, but to be fair, Nomad Biv makes all the other hostels look like Disneyland; super fake and plastic. Nomad Bivouac is authentic, tranquil, and just the most REAL experience of the Berber. I ate a hearty, delicious brekkie EVERY morning, and at night, kindly prepared at a time that suited me, a generous, bubbling hot, fresh vegetable tagine. If I live to be an old man I'll be telling stories about this place forever. Massive respect to L'hou and his terrific family, and super COOL cousins. Good luck with the garden, champ. Love.

Everything. We had an incredible time with Hassein and his family in this beautiful home like hostel that is courtyard with individual rooms with their own entrance. Piping hot water and so clean. The dinner and breakfast were some of the best meals we ate in Morocco and Hassein cooks them himself. So helpful to show and share one’s life with one and they have their own camels which they look after so beautifully. It is away from the tourist side of Mazouga and easy to get to the sand dunes. Anyone wanting a more authentic and genuine experience of a nomadic family and their stories should def stay here. A true highlight of our trip.

United StatesA little far in terms of walking to get to the dunes (but as you'll see from the high dunes, nothing is close to them)
The owner was super nice, met us at the bus stop, and took us home, even though we didn't ask, it was a wonderful surprise. There was a great dinner and breakfast.

PolandExceptional place with exceptional host! Hassan is the definition of Moroccan hospitality, very helpful, always looked after us, provided transportation, nice ways to spend time and interesting stories. Location is 20 minutes walking from dunes, but you can rent a camel on a spot or walk really comfortably. 10/10 in every aspect. Traditional food (simple but delicious) is served for breakfast, fresh fruit, water, whatever you need. Shaded common area is great for socializing. Simply amazing!

SloveniaA simple but very organized and clean "camp site". Hosted by an amazing host Hassan. He can organize overnight trips to the dessert with you (prize was 65€/75€ depending on the itinerary), which are a bit less touristy than other offers. His dinners are probably the best food you will have in Morocco, albeit a tad expensive, but in our opinion still worth it. If we ever return to Morocco we are going here again.

United Statesnothing. We are very satisfied with the camp.
Fantastic owner Lhou who is friendly and catered to our needs. We used this camp as a base for our Sahara Desert adventure. We spent one unforgettable night in a luxurious camp offered by Lhou. Lhou prepared a delicious grilled lamb and chicken dinner for us. After dinner, he serenaded us by playing the guitar and drums. He also advised us to take the Supratour bus from Merzouga to Tinghir and bought the tickets for us. We appreciated very much his warm hospitality. We highly recommend his camp because of his amazing hospitality and tremendous value although the facilities are simple but clean.

CanadaIf you are deciding which accommodation to choose in merzouga, stop looking because you’ve found it! everything from the room to the bathroom facilities to the meals was amazing. Hassan is the best host we have encountered in our travels! He is so welcoming and accommodating for your every need. We booked 3 nights at Nomad Bivouac for honestly the best price you could get for any accommodation comparable and were interested in all the desert activities which Hassan provides! We had the options of camel trekking, 4x4, or ATV all through Hassan and we chose to do the camel trek overnight into the desert which his cousin leads. Was a wonderful experience and the convenience of booking was great. Delicious and plentiful breakfast (by far the best we have had in our 3 week trip in Morocco), and dinner for 100 dirham per person with a very large entreè followed by an even larger tajine, also THE BEST dinner we have had in our entire stay visiting 5 other cities/ towns in Morocco. It is the most food we have had for the price and the quality outranks anywhere else so definitely get it every night! Book with Hassan and make unforgettable memories thanks to this lovely man. We will be recommending him to everyone coming his way :)
