The hamman unfortunately was closed due to renovation although it was not mentioned in the booking.

We were looking for a place with some peace and quiet and Out of Medina was a perfect spot for us. The cottage was cosy and very clean. We were greeted by some inquisitive dogs and cats which was fun (all rescues as the owner explained to us). We were served a traditional Moroccan breakfast with a touch of French which we also enjoyed. Last but not least, the staff were fantastic!

Based on the pictures, we were a bit disappointed with two things. 1) the pictures on booking show an amazing breakfast buffet with lots of fruits, pastry, eggs, pancakes, granola, meats, cheese, etc. However what we received was a very basic breakfast consisting of a small yoghurt, moroccan pancakes, bread and jams. When confronting the owner about this, she told is we could just ask for eggs and fruits and we did receive those the following morning after asking for it. But still, it was a bit deceiving to have those pictures on the booking app. 2) We stayed here to enjoy 3 days of full relaxation, willing to pay a bit more for some extra comfort. Everything was good but not great like we hoped for/expected based on pictures. For example massages & dinner were good, but not great. It could be small gestures that are added to go the extra mile like some infused water and biscuits that are available during the day. If you really want a full comfort, careless holiday, there might be other options more suited.

Out of Medina is a lovely oasis located about 15mins from Essaouira by car. The staff is very friendly and the hotel dogs & cats are adorable. Rooms are nice & spacy, beds were a bit hard. Nice interior & decoration, very quiet at night.

From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. Especially since the amazing host named Morad was so kind and friendly to us and always walked around with a smile on his face. The accommodation was really peaceful with super clean and comfortable rooms. We even got an upgrade for free to a beautiful cottage in the garden next to the swimming pool. If you are looking for a calm and peaceful stay I would highly recommended Out of Medina. Thanks to the whole team for there kindness and we will definitely come back again!

If you don’t have a car or lots of money for taxis, it’s quite far from anything.

Absolutely lovely setting, wonderful host, pool is a beaut and nothing feels crowded. The bungalows and guesthouse are all a perfect distance from each other to make you feel both private but together if you want.

The food is wonderful, but there isn’t a menu for selection, as such, they advise what the “dish of the day” is and that’s it. Having said that, they prepared a vegan option especially for my friend, and when we asked for fish, it was offered the next day. Everything is fresh and local and beautifully prepared. Rooms are simple but functional.

Beautiful limestone main building surrounded by olive and fruit trees, tranquil and peaceful with wonderful staff - special mention to Murad who magically made every request happen!

Everything was great.

Our stay was wonderful. The staff is the nicest staff we have met during our three-week road trip through Morocco. The owners do a wonderful job and were very helpful when we noticed in Marrakkech that we forgot one of our suitcases there. Also, Murat, one of the staff members, was exceptionally nice and helpful. We felt very comfortable from the very beginning. Also, we can only recommend the food - it was delicious.

Marrielle has amazing taste, the Riad is decorated beautifully, lots of high quality artisan works which are all around the Riad. The rooms are comfortable and a great size. All of the staff are all lovely, so helpful and patient with my terrible attempt to speak french! I got myself in a pickle elsewhere before I arrived and Marielle and her husband Patrick came to rescue me, i am so grateful! Out of Medina is spotless, including the pool area, it’s well maintained and clearly is taken care of. The food I had here was excellent, fresh and well presented, The breakfast is delicious and just the right amount of food, and for dinner, Marielle and her team went out of their way to cater to me, which was so kind. The spa is great, the oriental massage is one of the best i’ve ever had anywhere - i highly recommend! I came to Out of Medina to relax and switch off, and it was the perfect place for that, I am leaving feeling well refreshed! As a female solo traveler I couldn’t have felt safer, which is important to me. Finally, there are some of the nicest and most gentle well behaved dogs here, (Alfie being my favourite) they are so cute and was lovely to have them here!

There's nothing to dislike in OOM, but a few things could definitely be improved that would make it a 10/10 for me personally : - Essaouira doesn't get as hot as Marrakech so an AC isn't really necessary, that said it does get pretty hot and a regular fan (probably would cost less than 40 euros) would be a great addition to the Bungalows and would guarantee more comfort and better sleep. - The quality of what was given in the breakfast was exceptional. Loved the juice and the coffee! That said, it is a bit small as we were only offered 2 crepes. When we asked for Msemmen, they said yes and that msemmen was the best we've had in our entire stay in Marrakech and Essaouira. It would be great if it could be included from the start, because the quality is very good. - Ability to pay for extras (e.g SPA) by card. Since the lodge is a bit remote, it wasn't practical to get out to get cash for the massage we bought.

- The Bungalow is quite charming and has a nice terrace - Hassan (the do-it-all) and the waiters are all very polite and super nice - The pool and the seating around the pool are great, definitely ideal for reading, having a nap etc

There is nothing to dislike.

Out of Medina is a stunningly pretty property that has been beautifully planned out for hosting guests. It has a calm and tranquility about it. It is also however a property that lends itself to socialising too if you want to. Everything has been thought of to make a stay truly relaxing. The pool is beautiful as are the gardens that you can explore at your leisure. Mariella and Patrick are outstanding hosts and Mariella and her staff are fabulous cooks and our meals at the property were delicious. There is a little boutique at the property selling jewellery, 100% natural beauty products and pure argon oil which is delicious by the way and there is also a treatment menu and room where you can book a variety of massage treatments. The staff is attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was kept perfectly clean during our stay. The location of OOM is also perfect for visiting Essaouira

very beautiful location out of the hustle and bustle of Essaouira. The bungalows are just superb with the Berber decor. Very friendly staff especially Mr Mbark who is always there when you need him. The setup of this hotel is too good to describe…rooms, pool and pool house! definitely coming back to this place.

We had a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee or tea, fresh orange juice, pancakes, pastries, bread. The host gave us a choice in what we wanted to eat and also offered us eggs. We had our breakfast on the patio overlooking the pool and garden, it was a pleasure to be in such a beautiful, relaxed enviroment. The host speaks good English.
