Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room I was in was a little noisy, as it was on the ground floor, near the front door. However, by using sound machine app, I was able to mostly drown out any noise.
The riad is in a great location, and within walking distance of many great sites to visit. Additionally, the breakfast was amazing, and eating on the rooftop terrace was a lovely way to start the day.

CambodiaA little dark. More natural light would be nice. Also it's doesn't feel very private with the rooms having thin windows and doors.
The old riad style was beautiful. The view was beautiful too. Very good location. And a great breakfast.

United StatesRooms were small, but the beds were comfy.
The rooftop breakfast was ample and delicious. Staff was helpful, they arranged taxi from the airport and to the Tanger-Med. The building is gorgeous. The rooms are small, but so is everything in the Medina, there's plenty of lounging space on each floor, plus the lovely rooftop.

GermanyThe big inconvenient fact is that the hotel is a very old building and not renovated properly for accommodation purposes. The isolation of the rooms is the worst. You can hear every single noise coming from outside the room and it’s such an unpleasant feeling to hear everything and knowing that you will be also heard and thus the luck of privacy. Furthermore there is no closet or anything suitable to store the clothes. The furniture can have the traditional style and charm but also should serve its purpose.
Riad Arous Chamel is located in the heart of the old medina of Tanger which is perfect for exploring the city and surrounding areas. The terrace of the rooftop has an amazing view of the medina and the old port! The traditional Moroccan breakfast was amazing! The stuff was very friendly and hospital!

ItalyThe bathroom was outside the room, no big deal, but I would still make sure to ask for a room with a bathroom inside. A part from that all perfect.
The Riad is beautiful and authentic and in a perfect position in the Medina where evrything is walking distance. The terrace is beautiful and breakfast abundant and very good. Owner and Staff super nice. Very good value. Recomended.

FranceThe intimacy of the rooms was a bit poor. The windows give to the internal patio of the Riad, from where all can be seen and heard.
The breakfast was served in the terrasse and it was awesome: drinks, pastry and bread all were super tasty.

United KingdomLots of the amenities may need perhaps a little closer attention and the stay would be exceptional in time, but sympathetic that the maintenance of a property of this extraordinary magnitude is a labour of love. Blue Room for example needs at least a fan to keep cool, some glasses to drink out of, a bottle opener, a bottle of water each day, a chair to sit on in front of the dresser, the bathroom shower needs at least a temporary shower curtain rail or similar to stop water splashing all over the floor, a steam extractor fan. Generally a regular repair and maintenance spot check for so many things like bathroom door handles, picture frames and the like falling off in the middle of the night, bed heads and mattresses needing to be firmly connected to their base, and most especially; some staircase hand railings to hold on to throughout for those that could (and we often did see) struggle. It could especially be easy to slip off the lower side of the tiled spiral staircase near the bathroom of the Blue room. Also for smokers, the only place to do so is on the roof terrace which is a pretty big hike, and that door is locked at late hours, so an alternative could perhaps be provided? These are just little constructive facilities suggestions that may help support such an extraordinarily beautiful property.
The property itself is absolutely spectacular in its original, historical interior design, cleanliness and the staff are absolutely impeccable hosts. Breakfast is to die for. For those who want to be in the heart of the Medina, the location is fabulous, and the reliable airport transfer service is great too. Couldn't thank the team enough for hosting us on such a brilliant experience.

United StatesWindows to the hallway were left open after our room was cleaned while we were gone. The air conditioner did not work nor was addressed after we told the manager. The breakfast was good but did not have much variety and I was refused a second glass of orange juice.
The terrace was really beautiful with an incredible view. The location was in the middle of old town which was very convenient. The staff was excellent.
