Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyI left my heart in Essaouira because of this facility and its people mainly. Essaouira is a small town but how come this stay for this budget can turn into an amazing experience. - At the first check-in Felix welcomed me and gave an information not only about riad but also about the city and things to do, places to eat on a map. This might be normal for most travelers but in my trips to Morocco, this happened for the first time to me at check in. - I reached to my room, it was more beautiful than in pictures! Of course it is small for 1 person single bed but i couldnt resist to take thousands of pictures of it. - Thankfully Felix was available and at Riad, he arranged me tours and restaurants. His neighbors and riad's restaurant all of them were flawless. - You can never find family style accommodation and that much professionally taken care. I hope the owners see the teams 5 star effort. - Then i met the rest of the team, Esma, was super nice and very knowladgable person. She helped me with recommending real good coverlet too. And most importantly none of the team seemed like they are trying to sell something. They were just giving the name and location of the place and letting me go. - In one of our conversations with Felix, he realized how much i would love to see local life. And he kindly asked me if i would like to come with him to join him at the volunteer event he is running to. That was the best decision i made to join him. I cannot thank enough for being such a great friend during my stay besides being such a great manager of the facilities. - when it comes to the hotel, you must experience it. The highest quality argan soap in the bathrooms, highest quality of bed and towels, cleanliness, a perfect taste of design, and a huge terrace where you can watch sunset is everything. You dont even need to look for another place to experience sunset. - Breakfast was creme de la creme...

AustriaBreakfast was typical Moroccan style and the service was very good. The room was small (2 single beds) and the mattress was rather hard. There is a wonderful rooftop terrace for relaxing.

IrelandExcellent location, very central yet very peaceful and quiet once you step into the Riad. Short walk to the beach and the markets. Restaurants right outside the door. The hosts were so helpful and friendly and gave us lots of good information as well as restaurant recommendations. The rooftop terrace was beautiful, such a good place to chill out and read a book. The breakfast was really nice. Even though it was 30 degrees the day we arrived the riad was lovely and cool, there was also a heather and a hot water bottle in our room which came in handy when it got a bit chilly the next night. The hosts have thought of everything and the attention to detail was great.

United KingdomRiad Baladin provided an exceptional experience for our stay. Felix, the manager, was incredibly attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly and even organizing a same-day massage. The staff was friendly, always sporting a smile. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was delightful, even available until noon. The Riad offered a jacuzzi and various spacious areas to relax. Tucked away in a quiet alley, the Riad offered a peaceful atmosphere. Our room was well-equipped with amenities like tea, a hair dryer, and even a hot water bottle. The Riad exuded a relaxing aroma throughout, and the social area with books and board games added to its charm. Overall, a highly recommended stay for a serene and enjoyable experience.

United KingdomNothing, everything & all staff were great.
Everything at Riad Baladin was perfect for us. Felix & his team are exceptional. They go above & beyond to ensure guests needs are met at all times. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They gave us recommendations for places to eat, shop and explore. Our room was the Terrace at the top of the Riad & was perfect & we suggest the best room at the Baladin. Breakfast was plentiful & delicious & served on the roof/terrace. Using the jacuzzi was such an added bonus & a must after a long day walking in the souk. Well done to all at Riad Baladin, we will definitely return to this magical place.

United KingdomThe bed wasn’t super comfortable, and the rooms were a little noisy at times, but it is all part of the character of a riad for me and to be expected.
Lovely Riad right in the centre of the Medina. The whole Riad looks and smells beautiful. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but it looked beautiful and such lovely character to the room. Breakfast was lovely and served on the terrace. The host we were greeted by was really kind and had lots of helpful tips and advice, she took the time to speak with us even though she was very busy.

IrelandMy recent stay at Riad Baladin in Essaouira was a delightful escape. Tucked away in the heart of the medina, this charming riad offered a perfect stay. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enchanted by the riad's décor and cozy ambiance. Felix, the manager, welcomed me warmly and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. One of the highlights was the rooftop terrace, where I enjoyed the lovely views while savoring delicious breakfast and soaking up the sunshine. Riad Baladin's central location made it easy to explore Essaouira's bustling souks, historic sites, and vibrant culture. Yet, at the end of each day, returning to the peaceful haven of the riad felt like coming home. I can't wait to return for another stay.

United KingdomPerhaps some more sockets or a cable extension would be useful next to the bed if you have more than one phone to charge overnight :) -A little curtain on the bathroom door to help with more privacy, although only the shower is visible so not really a problem.
-Staff were so lovely and welcoming, spent a lot of time with us, made us tea and even gave us a little parting gift! -The jacuzzi can be booked for a whole hour every day until 10pm, perfect for a bit of relaxation after a full day of exploring the medina. -Excellent breakfast that is enjoyed up in the terrace. And it is served until 12pm which is amazing if you need a lie in after a late night out. -The riad is a tranquil little haven amongst the hustle and bustle of the medina. It is decorated beautifully with some locally bought art, lots of candles and essential oils. - If you stay in the terrace room you can hear the sound of the waves in the night. -Last but not least, Simba the resident cat :)
