Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe entrance is hard to find for the first time visit. It would be very helpful if they can send the picture of the door. But we got help from local people close to the door, they are really nice and friendly.
The riad is full of details where you could spend some time exploring the different views from rooftop to the public room. It's also nice to have delicious freshly made local breakfast. We also love staffs are very friendly and helpful. They help you plan the route to have a nice visit in Medina and some very useful advice to save your money.

SpainThe private bathroom of the room had no walls or door to close it properly, so we needed to take turns in the room sometimes. Not the biggest deal but it is not ultra comfortable.
The staff were super helpful. They gave us the best advices for our trip plus the breakfast they served us was beyond great. The room was perfect and very comfortable. We were in the terrace, in the last floor and were alone in that floor so it felt very private. The air conditioning and the WiFi also worked amazing. Also, they printed for us the boarding passes for our flight back that we really needed. The location of the riad is also great. It is not that close from the jamaa square but it is great to go for a walk in the souks.

IrelandYou cannot see what the pool backs onto, which is good, but I assume it is a street with a constant fire lit as it could be unbearably smokey by the pool.
The staff are so helpful but also keep to themselves and allow you to enjoy your peace and privacy. The pool was amazing, much bigger than expected. Hakim gave us great advice and tips on our first day.

SpainIt was a bit difficult to get the shower to a good temperature.
We absolutely loved this place, the photos don't do it justice. It's absolutely stunning, both the inside spaces and the outside spaces. Everything was very comfortable, especially the bed. It's so peaceful, sich a welcome respite from the bustle of the city. Marwan and Hakim were both very friendly, looking after us while giving us privacy. I woke up here on my birthday and I felt like a princess!

New ZealandMy stay at Riad Ben Youssef was totally fantastic. I was travelling alone and my experience was made seamless from start to finish! The staff added so much value to my time in Marrakech and made sure I had everything I needed during my stay. The interiors were gorgeous and the setting of the pool was beautiful. It was a great quiet place to come back from after the busyness on the streets. Highly recommend this to anyone and would like to go back one day myself.

United StatesWhile breakfast could be improved given some guests enjoy heartier breakfast options, I am aware that what was served is very accurate to an authentic Moroccan breakfast. Wifi was also not the best despite them having to options available.
For an unique and fun travel experience in Marrakech, opt to stay in a riad instead of a regular hotel to truly experience the Moroccan way of living. We opted for Riad Ben Youssef and the host was very attentive and informative. The riad itself is beautiful and fun to explore during your stay. While breakfast could be improved given some guests enjoy heartier breakfast options, I am aware that what was served is very accurate to an authentic Moroccan breakfast.

GreeceWe were overall happy with the room we booked, but perhaps one of the bigger rooms will feel more comfortable to some travellers. The location was great for us, but if I was a female solo traveller, passing some less central alleys on the way back at night, would make me feel uneasy - I'd choose something even closer to El Fna or return a bit early.
Beautiful Riad in a quiet yet central location. The breakfast was exceptional, but above all we valued the welcoming and attentive staff. As it was our first time in Marrakech, Hakim's advice and help upon arrival was really valuable; he met us where the taxi left us, and then took extra time to help us orient and provided all sorts of important info. Having stayed in other riads afterwards, we were really happy that we chose this place for our first couple of nights.

ItalyThere was no fresh fruit or yoghurt at breakfast - though breakfast WAS plentiful.
The decor, the riad, the room all perfectly encapsulate the essence of Marrakech albeit in a quiet but central location. The manager and the owner, who I met on the last day, were friendliness itself. I would highly recommend this Riad. Far superior to other Riads I have been to in Marrakech.

GermanyIt was perfect.
This Riad is so pretty, very private, and Hakim is an exceptionally kind and funny hotel manager. I was drawn to this Riad because of its beautiful details in this historic building, and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the roof terrace room, and the sounds of the Muezzin with his beautiful voice during morning prayer is something we will continue to remember very fondly. Breakfast, restaurant recommendations, directions etc. were all perfect. Thanks to Hakim and his team!

NetherlandsWe have been able to stay for a week in Riad Ben Youssef. A fantastic experience. The Riad was located in the middle of the Medina, around the corner from the Koran school Medersa Ben Youssef and close to the famous souks. All famous sights were within walking distance. The management (Hakim) and the staff of the Riad were there for us 24 hours a day. At the very friendly reception we were extensively informed and advised about the do's and don't's. The rooms at Riad Ben Youssef were fine. In addition, we could use various additional facilities: the rooftop, a swimming pool, a games and reading room, a beautiful relaxing courtyard, etc. Hakim arranged reservations on request. He also arranged taxi transport to and from (in the middle of the night) the airport. In one word: a great Riad, with an excellent price/quality ratio. Definitely recommend.

United KingdomI am really struggling to find any negatives
My husband did not join us on this trip, it was just my daughter and myself, but from the moment we met the driver sent by our accommodation, (who was sympathetic about our very delayed arrival) we felt welcomed and very safe. The Riad Ben Youssef was so clean and peaceful. As soon as we entered through the old wooden door in the wall, we were in a sweet smelling, shaded sanctuary. At the end of the hall the beautiful courtyard opened out in front of us: orange and lemon trees, a central water feature, brilliant sunshine, shaded patios and the sound of birdsong. The pool was beautiful, especially in the evenings, and the view from the roof-top terrace was breathtaking. There were numerous areas where you could relax, read, admire the art work and furnishings or chat with other guests. Breakfast was perfect for us; some traditional and very tasty, but also plenty of bread and butter with lots of different preserves. A carafe of freshly squeezed orange juice and thermal jugs of hot milk and coffee were always waiting for us. The location could not have been better; we were only moments from the beautiful Medersa Ben Youssef, at least two fabulous restaurants well recommended locally and right at the heart of the Medina. Hakim, the proprietor, was absolutely charming. He spent a lot of time explaining the do's and don'ts of the area and told us about the places not to be missed and the places to avoid. His concern for our safety and happiness was incredible and very comforting. He was able to book various tours and tailor them to our needs and arranged for a local guide at very short notice; we had a fantastic day with Ali (I hope that is the correct way to write his name) and saw so much we would never have discovered ourselves and learned the meaning and the history of it all.

The riad is close to all beautiful things you can see in Marakesh, but when you are in the riad is is calm and quiet. Hakim and all the other staff are helpfull on every moment and give you tips about what tot visit. The privite trip tot the Atlas Mountains and eat with al local Berber was for us the most special moment of this sort holliday to Marakesh.

United StatesThis was a beautiful historic riad in a quiet area but very close to all of Marrakesh's souks and main attractions - close to several museums, cafes and shopping. Hakim was very friendly and welcoming and helped us get a data plan for our phone as well as advice on what to see in the city. The pool and roof terrace was absolutely stunning as well. Breakfast was delicious - would highly recommend!
