Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

My room was clean and had good air-circulation, which is not common in this city. The staff were nice and helpful as well.

Czech RepublicThe sheets on the bed were basically just blankets and it was a little icky to use them... also the facilities could use a renovation, the shower was not dirty as in "not cleaned" but dirty as in "old" dirty... also I'm a light sleeper and couldn't sleep much because of noises coming from above I guess, you could hear walking, talking, everything up until 3am
The location itself was supreme, although from the parking lot we had to walk for about 10 minutes, because the riad is in the historical centre and there is nowhere to park

KyrgyzstanThe room was extremely moldy and stuffy. There is no ventilation and I had to burn aroma oil to mask the smell. The single beds in the family suite was also too hard and old.
Location was great and the room was spacious

United KingdomThe room was excessively humid, which made it uncomfortable for us. The dampness was palpable, and we could even feel it on our clothes. The bathroom emitted an unpleasant odor, likely due to poor ventilation. It felt like there was no way for the air to circulate properly. Additionally, the room relied solely on artificial lighting, which created a basement-like atmosphere. This lack of natural light was quite disappointing. Furthermore, it was impossible to find peace and relaxation during the day due to the loud conversations echoing through the hallways. Weak WiFi
We were given a beautiful room with two separate bedrooms and a private bathroom. The location of the riad in the heart of the medina can be seen as both an advantage and a disadvantage.

ItalyBed, wardrobe, shower are a bit old and need some renovation, but I think that's acceptable considering the price you pay. The room was generally clean, but it should be put a bit more attention ( I found hair in the shower and in the bed). WiFi can be weak sometimes.
Great location. The riad is really pretty with cute decorations. It is well structured, the rooms have thick walls. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. Price is great.

FinlandStaff was very helpful and room good enough. Room i first booked (big room at ground level with private bathroom) was a damp and not really that private because of window to common area. However for the next night i got another room upstairs that was better value and shared bathroom was good and never occupied. Staff also helped me to get another accomodation when somebody else booked that room.

GreeceThe shower. It was explained, that this condition was not dirt, rather than the acid of the water, or similar, but it is not okay, nevertheless. The room was part of the reception hall and as we arrived we asked if we could use the restroom and we were showed to the bathroom of the room that was eventually also given to us. That took us by surprise. As part of the reception on the ground floor, this room was overlooking at the reception hall and it was of course very dark.
The location was great, as we arrived by car and there is a good parking spot right outside the walls of this side of the Medina. Our room was part of the reception hall, it was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable.

SerbiaToilet wasn't too nice, I think they need to sort out the toilets to be 10/10. Put some paint or from time to time improve it a bit. The water pressure was taking too long to get warm water going unfortunately.
Location is good to go from and explore city. Very big room that we had. Comfortable big bed, plenty of pillows.

United StatesThe smaller bedroom smelled musty so I had to sleep with the window open and the wall between the kitchen and the main bedroom was very thin and all the noise came right through, but noise is part of staying in a riad and thankfully it didn't impact our experience as the other guests were quiet.
the riad is well located in a quiet part of the Medina but still close to restaurants and shops. The suite was spacious and comfortable and having the use of the kitchen and terrace was a big bonus. The host was friendly and gave me good directions to the most visited attractions. She also let us store our bags after checkout so we could continue exploring.

United Kingdommind some rooms don’t have windows and ventilation is not superb but some people seem not to mind. I am asthmatic so it made huge difference to be in the room with the window which I am very grateful for
- very quiet in the night, had best sleep in Marroco - nice people running the place, you felt really safe and understood - nice people staying at Riad -it seemed this place attracts only nice quiet people!:) - I was lucky to have room with window which I left open for 5 days - otherwise it would be humid as Essaouria is a humid town - kitchen was great
