Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaThe room and the furniture, balcony, the curtains in it already needs renovation, but this is a common thing in Morocco, they don't care about it :) It is a studio, there is a small fridge and an electric stove, but there are no pots or pans for cooking, just a few cutlery and glasses. The windows of the room are on the sunny side, so the room heats quickly but there is no air conditioner so you need to keep the curtains closed. Sometimes, due to construction, restoration works and incomprehensible activities, the noise from outside can disturb your sleep.
I have visited Essaouira several times. This hotel is really a great place to stay to explore this ancient, interesting historical city. The hotel is located in the old town(medina), right on the defensive wall of the old town. All amenities, a good view from the window, there is a balcony-terrace. Good breakfast served on the roof terrace with a great view of the surrounding area and the ocean, friendly and helpful staff.

RomaniaThe view is actually a bit further away and barly visible for the first floor balcony. However, from the rooftop tarrace you can indeed admire the view of the sea. Breakfast was too much carbs for our taste: 2 types of bread, pancakes, pain au chocolat and just a small omlette with a little bit of cheese. Also the coffee could be better
The location is conveniently close to the beach, the port and main street of medina. The hosts are kind and helpful. He gave us tips on what to visit in Essaouira and how to get to Casablanca the next day. They also agreed to give us takeaway breakfast on the day of our departure. Beds are confortable

LatviaThere wasn't any shampoo 😔. The seagulls outside the window were loud and disturbed my sleep and needed to get used to the noise.
We loved the big window. Every day they were cleaning our room. Also breakfast was good. We asked for extra coffee and tea. The staff was helpful and caring.

RomaniaI did not like the attitude of the hotel manager, who refused my reservation in a room with a balcony when I arrived at the hotel, and suggested that I cancel it there, on the spot without additional costs, because I did not respond to mail to the question "at what time do you arrive at the hotel?" sent 1 day before and which informed me that during my vacation I am absolutely obliged to answer emails and that this is life, sometimes unfair... Thus, I was put in an unpleasant situation during my vacation. Everything was saved by Mohamed who, after offering me a room without a balcony for 1 night, moved me to the room with a balcony that I originally booked. Thanks again, Mohamed. You are the best.

United KingdomThe hotel does not have a card machine which is really inconvenient when attempting to pay the bill. I would have preferred to pay through booking.com or by card at the hotel for payment protection, and to have known this hotel is cash-only before booking. As Morocco is a closed currency, it is important to consider withdrawing cash locally will incur additional costs for travelers. As I was not aware of this beforehand, the hotel agreed to absorb this charge but it would be best to ensure customers know that the hotel is cash only when making the booking. Although our rooms were clean and serviced each day, there is a big ant problem in the hotel and ants were in our bathroom, crawled into our beds and into my hairbrush! This should be resolved asap. Some areas of the hotel are quite tired - it was lovely to have breakfast on the terrace but it could do with being deep cleaned, repainted and perhaps new cushions/outdoor furniture to make it more comfortable.
The staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, close to the sea and the market. Breakfast is delicious and the staff were so friendly. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds are comfortable and it is a nice middle ground between a traditional riad and a hotel. There is a spa connected with the hotel a few minutes walk away, and the hammam rates are very reasonable. Staff were very kind in helping to book the hammam, helping with organising transfers, and offering to make recommendations of places to eat locally.

LithuaniaIt is a nice riad. Room was nice, location - perfect, basically in the medina :) and so close to the ocean! Breakfast was also wonderful :) There is also a nice terrace at the top where you can sit. Also, what is really good - there is a fridge and kettle in the room, so you can make tea or coffee whenever you want. If you come by car, there is a good parking not far (we paid ~60 dirhams for 2 nights).

United KingdomNothing in the way we were looked after.we were very pleased.
Breakfast was good varied typical moroccon style fresh fruit platter twice a week baked eggs and tomatoes fresh bread pancakes ? crepe, honey and apricot jam butter and fabulous freshly squeezed orange juice .Our room was very light and bright lovely large windows with a view down to the beach. Excellent shower plenty of hot water linen and towels changed every day which was a luxury but on a personal level considering all the climatic problems etc we would have been happy with less changes .The staff were excellent there was always a sound of laughter the staff seem very happy in their jobs . Mohammed was so smiley and very helpful all of the time as was the young lady receptionist. Our room needed the curtains replacing they were faded and need replacing there were also some holes There was a two ring hob but no cooking equipment if you wanted to we did not .. The furniture could do with a coat of paint and the sofa cover needs washing or dry cleaning it was marked . The call to prayer is 5 times a day and its quite close but we soon became used to it .to sum up lovely staff happy atmosphere .

CanadaNo fan or heater. Balcony door was difficult to move and once opened, we could not lock it again. It was down to 8C at night and as there was no heater in the room and it was becoming uncomfortably cool in the room. Also, as with the majority of on-line photos of everything these days, places always appear to be much nicer in the on- line photos than they are in real life and this holds true for this property as well. it was a bit of a let down in comparison to the photos on the booking site.
The view from our room was nice and the breakfast was outstanding. you can eat on the terrace or in your room. Due to the outside temperature, we had breakfast brought to our room. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Room had a kitchenette so we brought food from outside to have in our room. Great water pressure and water gets nice and hit! gGreat location for exploring on foot.
