The location was good but at night the streets were a little poorly lit and although there are conmen trying to tell you not to go that way (ignore them and walk confidently), I never felt unsafe.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious, as was the tagine we had on our last night there! The staff were really lovely, at one point I had a problem with my leather jacket getting destroyed by the rain, and Hamza took it to be repaired the next day! He also arranged a really wonderful trip for us to the atlas mountains which was a reasonable price and one of our trip highlights. The Riad is beautifully decorated.

Lovely setup for the rooms and terrace. Host was a true gentleman and so helpful, thank you Hamid. Location is a super close to the main area and very easy to walk around the Medina / streets.

There was a very strong wind the day we visited. A glass wind cover on the roof top made some noise during the night, but we still got a good night slepp:-)

Lovely airy courtyard with roof terrace - perfect location!

It takes five or more minutes for the water to get hot (on the lower floor). The hostess explained that this was due to the narrow pipes and that it was quicker on the higher floors. It is a pity, however, given the shortage of water. The room on the ground floor has only one window, which opens to the interior of the riad, making it difficult to get fresh air into the room. The furniture (especially the sofa) looked a little dated and less welcoming.

The hosts were accommodating and gave recommendations for places to eat or get a massage. The location is convenient (the old town of Essaouira is quite small and very walkable). The ocean is further away than we thought from the pictures, but you can see and hear it from the terrace on the top floor.

Hamid was super helpful, he took the time to walk us through the map of Essouria and mention to us the highlights of the madina. He and his wife were super welcoming and hospitable.

No cups or water provided in room. Lighting in room was harsh and no table lamps ar any option for softer lighting. Only one tiny bar of soap which did not lather at all was provided for two of us, for 4 nights. We had to ask for one more.

Very nice decor with a lot of vivid colors. The roofterrace has a wonderfull view of the sea and the medina. Breakfast was amazing. Also a big thank you to the owners and staff for making us feel like we’re at home. The very heartwarming and honest. We will miss them!

The only thing lacking was our room didn’t have a window but it was comfortable nonetheless and the central part of the riad was bathed in sunlight.

We were thrilled with our stay at Riad Zawia, the hotel is beautiful and atmospheric. Hamid the owner and his staff member welcomed us with tea and told us everything we wanted to know about Essaouira. I couldn’t recommend this Riad more!
