Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCouldn’t recommend Hotel Alkima enough! The ladies who worked here were fabulous and so attentive. It’s a lovely small hotel with a great pool and just a few minutes walk from the sea front. Our room was huge, plenty of space for the two of us. We were also given complimentary access to the spa on our final night which was a highlight and rounded off our stay in Kotor wonderfully.

United KingdomThe bed was made daily but sink and toilet did not appear to have been cleaned
The staff were fantastic. Very friendly professional and helpful. Extremely welcoming There was a small issue regarding the description of the room and provision of a balcony. It was a French balcony which had no chairs, unlike the details on the room description. The hotel was full so unable to change but the staff were very helpful offering us a free spa session and wine. We would definitely return here

United KingdomWe cannot think of anything
From the moment we arrived until we left everyone at this small family run hotel could not have been more friendly or professional. As another reviewer has recently commented, the owner, Marko (or Mark – so sorry if we’ve got the name wrong) and his wife make all of their staff feel part of the family. They made us feel so much at home, to the extent that one evening during our stay whilst they were celebrating their daughter’s birthday, they insisted we share with them some of the food and drink. We felt that that was a mark (sorry about the pun) of true hospitality. The room was very clean, modern and finished and furnished to a high standard. Nothing at all, large or small, was too much trouble. We broke a hinge on a bathroom cabinet one evening and Marko arrange for it to be fixed within 30 minutes. All of the staff, receptionists, cleaners, cooks greeted you with a bright, happy, smiling hello every time you saw them. We found the location to be excellent with a great view of Kotor bay. The mountains which surround the bay are stunning. It is a spectacular place. The location itself turned out to be really good. The hotel is less than 100m from the waterfront, with beach, restaurants, shops etc close at hand. In addition to attending to our every need, Alexander on reception, could also be relied on for restaurant recommendations and bookings. A 30 minute or so walk along the waterfront brought us to the old town with it’s walled fortress, which we read pre-dates Dubrovnik. The garden was an oasis of calm to relax in, the pool was lovely and very clean and the roof-top spa with jacuzzies, sauna and great views was an absolute delight. As it was our first visit to Montenegro, we feel we were lucky in the extreme to have selected the Alkima as the base for our stay. It is the complete opposite of the standard corporate brand name hotel. We would happily return there and without a second thought recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Kotor.

Denmark- The plumbing in the bathroom is probably done wrongly, which results in a damp smell from the shower. We closed the door when we used the room, and made a slight draft through the room when away. For us that was not an issue.
- Very friendly and helpful staff - Delicious breakfast, varied every day - Bed was good with a firm mattress - Walking distance to the old city - Parking was fine and easy - Quiet in the night (we had a room away from the street and don't know if it was different in the other rooms)

Staff very helpful. Great location. You are just outside town but with really easy access on quiet road that runs along the bay. Very restful and calm in hotel. Really nice garden and pool area which we used a lot. Normally we wouldn't. Good restaurants only minutes walkimng away. Kotor is stunning. Breakfast excellent.

Lovely hotel, staff were fantastic. The breakfast was great. The outdoor garden and pool area was fantastic. A short walk to a good restaurant and a nice flat walk to the old town - it takes about 30 minutes but there is a path right next to the bay so the walk is very pleasant.
