Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CroatiaEverything stinks, everything is damp, the walls are full of fungus, the room has not been cleaned for months. The room for 4 people is so small that all the beds collide, like in no other hostel. The toilet stinks so much that I couldn't even take a shower, it's also very cold in the room, and the bed is uncomfortable.
Volunteers are the only good thing about the hostel

PolandEverything was okay
I really recommend that place. It was so peaceful. There is an open roof with tables and chairs with beautiful view at the coast and mountains. The closest big market is 5minutes by foot. The kitchen has good equipment. Everyone was really kind and helpful. The rooms were also okay and clean and comfortable. There are many balconies where you can sit and rest. Place has a good WiFi and space to work. I will be back there for sure.

PolandI dont recommend. Photos of the hostel are absolutely out of date. Stinky toilet with unflushable contents etc. Price should be half of that.

United KingdomBit hard returning back up the hill when it is really hot but I am a more mature traveller. Going down is fine, there's a short cut.
Free breakfast. Eat lunch or dinner with staff for 5 euros, good food. Very relaxing atmosphere. Guests are welcomed. Helpful information, calling taxi etc. Staff friendly. Good views of the sea, especially from roof top. After check-out, no issue hanging around in communal areas. I had AC in my dorm. Lockers available.

HungaryThe bathroom was unacceptable: dirty, not equipped and disgusting sewer smell. However, it is possibly because of the other guests who couldn't flush the toilet (it is a shared bathroom). An odor absorber would be a good idea. And the upper part of the toilet should be repaired. Moreover, only hot water came from the tap. Our bed was a mattress on a pull-out sofa, therefore it was tilted. The rooftop should be also improved.
The location, the vibe of the lobby, parking places and rooftop terrace.

GermanyThe bathrooms were unfortunately quite dirty. Also the interior seemed a bit messy for me.
The staff was really helpful with questions concerning beaches and tips for the area. They also gave me a reduction because I arrived quite late and stayed in the reception area.

TurkeyIt is waaaay too far from city center and you need to walk up a couple of hills. Also during the night, that road doesnt seem so safe. The room was quite dirty. Sheets and towels were not feeling clean. WC and Shower was too small, dirty. I do not recommend.

IrelandExcellent view, excellent value and super friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a private room with our dog and the room was clean and we shared a bathroom with two other rooms. The staff kept on top of cleaning the bathroom. The Hostel is close to a big lovely park and it's easy to access the main part of town and Porto Montenegro. The stay was excellent value. We met some wonderful people including the hostel dog Bootsa and the kittie.

IrelandFor starters, the private room we got was incredibly good value for money. During summer here, the prices tend to go wayyy up - not the case with Hostel Anton. There are also very few places I've ever stayed that are as homely as this. I've had a few beers with the staff, met the owner, and played pool with some of the other guests. Overall, I'd highly recommend this quirky little place to anyone passing through!

SpainWe stayed in a private room, the bathroom was quite dirty and small. The bedsteads were broken, and the mattresses were quite worn. We found some cockroaches between the sheets. It looked as if the room had not been cleaned. We didn't spend a very pleasant night, the next day we checked out. There seemed to be more comfortable rooms but not this one.
the reception seemed quite nice, in other times maybe there were more people and it was fun, now there was nobod

PolandThis place is DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH and dirty. First of all there are BED BUGS! While writing this I have more than 30 red spots all over my body. There is no doubt that I was bitten in the Anton Hostel. We had seen some insect on the bed, which — as it turns out now after checking in the internet — was a bed bug. The spots appeared about 20 hours after my stay, which is typical reaction for an allergic person. See the picture The bath room is very dirty, and wet. There was no soap in one of the bathrooms and in the other it was almost over. The hostel tries to transfer responsibility for wet floor etc on the guests by requesting them to use the shower curtain, but the truth is that the bath room is just to small and under equipped. There was also wet dirty towel on the floor (supposedly a rug), which has not been changed even once during our two-day stay. Mould on the walls. The room (for two persons) we stayed had window covered with permanent plastic curtain facing stairway, so you can consider there is not window at all. The walls were dirty and stinky. Dear hostel owner, you make a big mistake thinking that by calling your place a "hostel" you don't have to invest at least minimal amount of money to provide BASIC comfort and SAFETY to your guests and your guests should not complain as after all "it's after all just a hostel".
The lobby and reception is very cozy and stylish. The staff was very nice and worked hard to make our stay pleasurable in the hotel. Unfortunately it turned out impossible.
