Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt's a shame that the wash basin was almost completely blocked and nothing was done about it. When looking in the cupboard we found a plunger, but this didn't unblock it, but it does show that this was a problem well-known to the management. It's a shame to have to make such negative comments about a hotel that was otherwise excellent!
A small hotel (and large restaurant) on the seafront with views over the sea. A comfortable room with shared balcony looking out over the sea. The restaurant is good and resasonably priced. Excellent breakfasts.

GermanyThe bed wasn't quite comfortable, probably an old couch.
We were truly taken care of, very sweet. Superb home-made breakfast! The house and the apartment are charming and quite stylish. The location right on the promenade gives you a feeling of being in the center of everything. Just lovely.

GermanyVery charming place. It's a restaurant with two (as far as I could see) large rooms with sea views. There is a joint smoking balcony, nice to enjoy the evening breeze on a summer day. Directly on the boardwalk, so it is quite lively until Midnight, when all bars close. Breakfast is a la card with plenty of choices.

CanadaGreat location on the promenade across from the pebble beach. Many restaurants and cafes steps away. The host runs an attached restaurant so checking in was no problem. They served an amazing a la carte breakfast. The room was spacious and there was a small terrace available overlooking the promenade.

United KingdomInteresting little place right next to the beach. We travelled there in off-season, so practically had the whole place to ourselves (literally, we were the only guests in the entire hotel). They have a nice restaurant with quality food as well. If you are looking for a place to stay in Bar right next to the beach, look no further!

RussiaRoom facilities and furniture are old. They need a complete replacement, and the room needs renovating. The deposit box in the room didn't work (and the staff couldn't do anything about it) The lighting in the hall worked intermittently. There was a doorstep between the living room and the hallway which I painfully hit my toe on. The toe still hurts (after 6+ weeks).
Actually this is just a restaurant with rooms for rent on the 1st floor, not a hotel per se. There are very few hotels in Bar whatsoever. Very good location, right on the sea side. Excellent breakfast. Good restaurant. Pleasant and friendly staff. Clean.

Ukrainethe only drawback is the smell of fried fish and other food in the evening as the hotel is on the second floor and there is a popular restaurant on the first floor.
We had a car trip around Montenegro. Stayed in 4 cities: Budva, Bar, Kotor, Tivat. The town of Bar is a true European resort town with a wide promenade right in front of the hotel. The room was quiet, the sea can be seen from the balcony on the floor. The room was excellent, the breakfast is excellent . Free parking nearby

United KingdomIf you wake up before 8am and you’re a coffee drinker consider yourself unlucky. They won’t give a coffee. They just won’t. They refuse it. The coffee machine is on and working, but they will refuse to give you one. I used the gas station behind on the main street (5 minute walk) to get a coffee. Noisy all the time. The restaurant is right underneath and you could hear everything going on, from banging glasses and cups, to staff laughing and giggling, to customers using the toilet, etc. Although there was a door between kitchen, public toilet and stairs, it’s stayed opened all the time. I woke up to close it few times, but it was a waste of time, it was reopened after few minutes. I was told that the rooms are not really a business for them, so whoever stays and uses accommodation, Bad Luck! The restaurant business comes first.
Amazing location, no parking.

United KingdomRoom very low standard shower fittings etc fallen off wall standard of room very second rate. Part of room appeared to be a storage room. Staff were surly and unhelpful. We fell for the pretty facade unfortunately the interior was well below par. Many better options are available in and around what is a good location, we discovered later.

GermanyWiFi was super slow and when asking for the WiFi key they didn’t want to tell us but rather type it into our devices themselves - I don’t understand why they made such a mystery around it. Also the staff was neither friendly nor helpful. When asking if they could arrange taxi transport to the train station (which is in our opinion a standard service for a hotel), they just told us to go to the next taxi station and didn’t make any effort to help us arrange transport. Cleanliness could have been better!
The hotel is located directly at the seafront which is nice if you want to go swimming. Our room was spacious and had sea view. Also the price was not too high. The stray dogs mentioned in other reviews were really friendly and not intrusive in any way (and I actually have some anxiety regarding dogs).

HungaryWouldn't be fair to say anything wrong about the hard work made by the helpful staff. So we had no problem left unsorted.
This grean belt, few hundred meters strech of evergreen vegetation all around Le Petit Chateau gives the feeling: that we are in one of the last paradise. The promenade, palm trees, giant leanders, pineas give us the true Mediterranean feeling. The style of the building is almost aristocratic. Highly recommend for travellers looking for unique atmosphere, rather than cool, supermodern uniformalised, standard apartment. The staff is number one, in deed! Do not miss the great restaurant of the house!

MaltaFor the price that i paid i should have had a better room. The house is an old place and i suppose the room cannot be updated better then it is, construction wise. They need to give a thorough cleaning to the place, also it needs to be done up better, new bed linen and bed covers are a most to make this room look brighter. Even though there were curtains the sun still filtered in so you need put in blinds to block out the sun for the night.
Breakfast was very very good, towels were given to us and so was shampoo and body soup, position of the chalet was excellent, in front of the sea, very convenient and close to shops too. on the last day i had to miss my breakfast as we left at 5:00 a.m. for our flight, would have appreciated a packed breakfast since we paid for it and did not receive any compensation.
