Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesRoom layout was strange, had to walk through the shower to get to the toilet. Tea kettle and tea in room but no cups. Curtains that can’t open. Pool looked nice but wasn’t open.
Nice villa with sea view in distance and very good restaurant. Breakfast was huge! Fried eggs and a platter of meats, cheeses, vegetables and bread. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful view from our balcony.

United StatesNoises from the lobby carried up the stairs- maybe some sound dampening is needed. The bathroom had a septic smell.
The location was great -just outside town, but still walkable. Easy parking. Staff was very friendly.

PortugalWe had some issues with the pipes in the bathroom - unfortunately specific kind of scent of "old pipes" - initially we thought it will disappear, but after few days we asked the staff to do something about it - and after we insisted we changed the room where there were no issues anymore. Regardless this, we were still amazed with the place of course. A fridge in the room would be helpful, but it is a minor thing. And also there were some minor unfinished things in the room like e.g. not that great installed light switch - you could see some space between the switch and the tiles in the bathroom - as well as one or two unfinished electric cable - but still not a big issue. And the last small issue - probably the area was not belonging to the hotel owners, but while eating a breakfast in such a lovely place I would take care of the some loose garbage that could be seen from the terrace - of course the closes garden was perfectly clean but in ~20m there was garbage. At the price offered one could expect no smell and all amenities you usually have at such spots as well as lack of a feeling that the rooms were not ready requiring some minor finishing works. All in all we would definately come back as the cons listed above are minor in comparison to the beatuy of that place and general impression it makes!
Location was perfect amidst garden of olive trees. Really beatufiul spot if you don't like the crowded tourist towns full of ugly hotels and wish to rest, jog/walk around, etc. Quite, calm and lovely. Relatively close to the beatiful Valdamos beach - less than 2 km walk down from the hill. Moreover, around 40 min walk to the old city part of Ulcinj - also a lovely place. We also had a rented car so once we got to the beach in 2 mins. The building itself is also really lovely made of stones and glass - little mix of antiquity and modern atchitecture built with taste and perfectly fitting the beatiufl olive trees garden. The people at Mashtra were very friendly and helpful. They had good English skills so there were no communication issues at all. The staff cleaned the room each day, advised regarding different interesting spots etc. The breakfasts were delicious and served in a way exceeding expectations - plenty of choices regardless you like your breakfast sweet or savory - local meets, cheeses, bread, olives, eggs, fruits, youghurts etc. The rooms were cosy, nice and spatial. We had a beatiful view out of the window, but as we needed to change the room - we could enjoy the view less time than expected. And also we would recommend the hotel restaurant apart from the breakfast - we had 2 steaks, one regular and the other was veal with a bone - little different than a regular steak - both really delicious.

KosovoThe staff was wonderful - professional, welcoming and so, so friendly. Breakfast was perfect and the menu is a la carte - you have to try Spanish Shrimps. Do not forget to check out their wines. Valdanos beach is 2 min drive. Definitely going back soon. I have visited Ulcinj for as long as I remember myself, yet I never experienced such coziness and warmness at the same time. It reflects Ulcinj’s amazing spirit.

SwitzerlandAbsolutely nothing.
Not only was the property beautiful but Senad (the owner) made us feel like family. The staff’s hospitality was impeccable. It was lovely enjoying breakfast every morning under the gentle shade of the olive trees. The evenings at dinner with live music and the breeze of the sea not far away while enjoying fresh fish was unforgettable. It may seem like a long way out but staying in Ulcinj is really about getting outside of the center and to places like Senad’s where he makes everyone feel like home. It’s perfectly nestled by Valdonos beach and not far from Long Beach. The breakfast is a generous amount and with fresh options and the dinner menu is divine. Definitely coming back again!

GermanyThe masthra olive house is located outside of Ulcinj in the middle of hills full of olive trees and 2 min car drive away from Valdano beach. If you enjoy nature, a beautiful atmosphere and modern, stylish design - this is the place to be :) the restaurant serves amazingly delicious food including a very diverse breakfast. The owner and staff are extremely welcoming and make every guest feel at home. We enjoyed perfect 3 days at Mashtra Olive House and can only recommend to stay there during your Montenegro visit.

NetherlandsThe first night it was very noisy, until 5 o'clock in the morning. The next morning we heard that quests arrived late and spent some hours at the bar. We told the personnel that it kept us awake for several hours. The owner came later on to apologize for the noise. He also offered us a few drinks to compensate for the inconvenience.
The location is good. Near the sea and near to Ulcinj. The breakfast is excellent, and the dinner also. We did notice that the personnel is still.learning. At the breakfast they forgot the yoghurt, also the bowls for the yoghurt.

Swedenwe got a room that was not completely finished. electricity cables were sticking out from the ceiling. furniture was missing. there is a makeup table but no chair. only two offinger in the closet. the shower holder is broken in the bathroom. you can feel the sewage from the bathroom.breakfast was ok, except that the second morning we didn't get yogurt for muesli. when we asked, we got the answer that the cook had gone somewhere and that we couldn't get it. the first night we didn't have hot water, but the fault was repaired the next day. very bad sound insulation, because you can hear the clinking of the clock and the talking from the restaurant in the room
the location of the hotel is beautiful, in an olive grove.

United StatesMashtra, the Olive House is situated on a hill that overlooks the many local olive groves and (in the distance) the Adriatic Sea. The property is beautiful - you can walk the groves before enjoying outdoor or indoor dining. The food is exceptional and there is a nice wine and beer list. The owner Senad will seek you out to meet you, shake your hand and ask about your stay. Both he and his team are wonderful hosts, Dino was especially helpful in providing us advice on accessing the Salt Flats.
