LuxembourgThe Monte Bay Retreat is a unique, beautifully renovated hotel in a quiet location above Perast. The views are breathtaking and the hotel is peaceful and calm. Our room was exceptional with quality fixtures and fittings and a huge jacuzzi. The hotel is just a short walk from the beautiful village of Perast. The owner gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel right at home. The swimming pool and bar/terrace area is amazing and the perfect place to relax and unwind. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to get away from it all!

United KingdomIt was a bit of a trek up about 150 stairs to get back from town - didn't enjoy that in the heat, but if you want the great views, you need to be at the top of town!! :) Becasue the hotel is so small, there were only a small team of staff - Sacha who managed the check ins/outs, a cleaning lady, a chef, and two young guys who did all the bar and restaurant service. The chef and cleaning lady were great. The two young guys had only been there a month and perhaps lacked a bit of experience and training - things like only being able to make one of the cocktails from the menu so not being willing to accept orders for any of the others! And not understanding the (quite short) dinner menu. At times they seemed too busy or were just not around - e.g. telling people at breakfast they couldn't sit at the tables with the views of the bay and would have to sit further back in the restaurant because they did not have time to clear the tables; and one day during breakfast time we sat down and it was more than 20 minutes before any staff appeared. We had dinner at the hotel on our first evening - the food was good and the views were spectacular, and it could have been a wonderful meal - but unfortantely the service was slow and so chaotic and that in the end it was quite a stressful dinner and we decided to eat out the next day instead. Having said all of this, the guys were unbelieveably friendly and enthusiastic and tried really hard to please, and I'm sure that as they have gained expereince and perhaps had a bit more training, they will be doing a fantastic job - which would make this place perfect.
It is a beautiful property at the top of Perast, with absolutely stunning views from the pool area over the whole bay. There are only 6 rooms so it had a very personal touch and Sacha the owner made a point of speaking to all guests - the hotel seems to be very much his personal passion, and it is beautifully designed. The room was gorgeous, modern and spacious with a fabulous shower and very comfortable, large bed. Cleaning service was excellent and discreet - although we were only out of the room at breakfast for 20 minutes on the first morning, the room was tidied and spotlessly clean by the time we came back. The food we had was very good, the chef was great. The pool area was the highlight, hanging out there in the afternoons with the guys bringing us sundowner cocktails was the highlight of our whole trip. Would definitely recommend this place, and Perast itself, we loved both!

Monte Bay Retreat is so picturesque, ideally located atop the city with sweeping views of the mountains, the sea, a private island, and an island museum just a boat ride away. The moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Sasha, who sat down with us for a drink and introduced us to the facilities and the history of the 300-year-old building he bought from the Monastery next door and lovingly renovated. Our luxurious room had a large patio garden with a decorated gate overlooking the sea. Inside, every detail was taken care of, from the comfortable king sized bed, to the bathtub with a headrest, the Japanese self-cleaning toilet, the high quality stone double vanity, and the waterfall-like dual spray multicolor shower. Breakfast (lunch or dinner also) was served by Chef Nikola, a gourmet experience akin to Michelin star restaurants. The banana bread and French toast were divine. The wait staff Christian and Ivan attended to our every need. Sasha provided an exclusive private dining experience for the guests - not open to the public. After a long day of hiking and touring nearby cities, we often relaxed with drinks at the upper deck, swam in the infinity pool watching boats and cruise ships pass by below. I can’t say enough about our delightful experience celebrating our anniversary. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are planning our next trip back already…for a lengthier stay.

GermanyWe have been there for honeymoon. It was amazing! It is like a privat place because there are only 6 Rooms who can be booked. They are only cooking for you and no tourists. The food is delicious. The spices are coming directly from the garden. The Bananabread on Breakfast is the best banabread we ever had! It’s not just food. They made Design out of food. The owner is very friendly and takes time for his guests. He loves his job and makes the best cocktails. It is expensive, but in other countries you never get such a great and private hotel for this price like this. Great design, great view… so much to tell about.

Had a wonderful 3 nights at the property in a terrace room. Beautiful hotel with the most amazing views and gorgeous pool area. Sasha constantly went out of his way to be helpful and attentive and arranged a fabulous trip to a winery for us. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel if you want a peaceful and luxurious break in Perast that has that personal touch.

Other rooms seemed to have larger windows towards the view- better to request one Going to and from the center requires negotiating stairs- we liked it as going through narrow alleys. But could be an issue for people of less mobility

The hotel was fantastic, it is small, quiet and very relaxing. The staff are amazing, they treat you like family. The pool area and the view is spectacular, we spent most of our time up there. There were enough sun loungers plus spare, and pool towels were provided. We ate dinner at the hotel on one night with an amazing view, great food and no other guests were around, it was like dining on a private terrace. We would love to return one day
