Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI think the guesthouse is under renovation so it can be disorganized and cleanliness can be improved.
Very helpful and responsive staff. They have airport shuttle service and helped me to book a train ticket from UB to Ulan Ude. The location is great too. There’s a bust station in front of the guesthouse where you can take a bus to the train station and it’s 3’ walk to the famous monastery. Short walking distance to central, shopping malls. Good value.

TurkeyI stayed 10 days at Gana's in 3 different times in 3 different rooms. All of them were very comfortable, i felt at home after long, tiring, uncomfortable adventures in Mongolia. Managers are helpful -and not pushy-, good professionals. Stable wifi, nice-even luxury- private bathrooms, hot showers, comfortable beds, quick and good laundry system. At a silent neighbourhood, very close to Gandan monastery, close enough to city center. Definitely good price. Thanks for everything 🙏

ItalyOf course for the price you can't expect the most modern and luxurious rooms, or with the best view. However, if you book one of the ger on the roof, you'll have a very authentic Mongolian experience, with a nice and comfortable room, and the view on the Gandan monastery ger quarter.
Cheapest accomodation in UB for private room with private bathroom. Also one the cheapest guesthouse for laundry. Staff was nice and always available and helpful. The position in the city is good, very close to the Gandan monastery, and a couple of supermarkets nearby. I also did the two days tour in Terelj with this guesthouse and had a great experience!

ChinaIt’s a little bit cold in the Ger in the morning but I understand it’s reasonable. I would suggest other guests take shower in the evening instead of in the morning.
I really like the ger on the rooftop. it’s that kind of ger with modern facilities. Gana and his wife are really nice people. Another staff who doesn’t speak English was also helpful. It’s near Ger District and I don’t understand why some guests would say it’s an disadvantage. Ger district is my favorite place in Ulan Bator and I don’t think it’s dangerous to visit from my own experience.

New ZealandGana, his wife and son are fabulous hosts. I highly recommend them. The room I had was big and warm (and I could adjust the heater if I needed to). The guesthouse offers excellent value for money; the best my search could find in Ulaanbaatar. I ended up staying 5 nights after initially only booking for 2. They also arranged a private tour for me to a national park for a reasonable amount given it's the off-season. I was also given a good cooked breakfast daily. The location is pretty good, being a 10 minute walk to the centre of town.

United StatesMain level BACK room was a bit stuffy. Other rooms were all great!
Location a bit West of central downtown area, but still great. Rooms in front and upstairs best, as less stuffy and GER on roof was awesome. Amazing views, just a fun place. Nice central area to hang out, good breakfast included. Gana super helpful and easy to get info.

ItalyThe guest house is for backpackers, little rough around the edges, things like wifi or water pressure are not super powerful, but still ideal for exploring the city on a budget
The guest house is very central, close to the main tourist sites and food markets. The host was also very chill and helpful

United KingdomI have no criticisms really; it is a very good place for the money charged. Don't expect 5 star, but thumbs up for what was provided; way better than I was expecting for the price.
This is the second time that I have stayed in Ulan Bator so I can compare this place with another that I have stayed at, and I am a well seasoned traveller who has visited 90 countries, so little fazes me and I know what to expect. The location is brilliant - just a 15-20 minute walk from Subhaktar Square, but nestled on the old streets close to the Gandan Monastery - it was ridiculously quiet at night, and added to comfortable beds, the room had 24/7 hot water, en-suite and western style plugs, with kettle provided. The owner, Gana, was lovely - he let me use his computer for free and also stored luggage prior to my evening flight, without extra charge. I didn't opt for the breakfast, but it was very cheap. What you gain from this property is being very close to everything, but avoiding the noise of traffic - Ulan Bator is gridlocked with traffic for a lot of the time, so if centrally located, you will probably be kept awake with the honking of horns and noise of people - here was stillness and quiet, so for me as a traveller, a quiet room, en-suite and hot water are the main priorities.
