Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThat it isn’t in Paris and we have to take a plane to get there!!! 😉
Booked at the very last moment, the staff was absolutely great and arranged for a late meal upon arrival. We had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us and a platter of local specialities. It was all perfect. The staff is really adorable and helps you to make your stay in Valetta exceptional. My wife and I travel a lot, we have been to many a places, and we will cherish the moments very dearly. The location is spot on, within walking distance of everything you might desire - food, a historical visit, the ferries. Again, we are not affiliated in any ways with the hotel, hardly ever leave any comment, but our stay there was just beautiful. I would even go one step further: We have been to many places around the world, but even the restaurants, which look touristy in the first place, are really keen on serving very good and affordable food. I would highly recommend this place. Thanks to Suzanne for making our wedding anniversary a special one!

IrelandWe would have loved a kettle in the room. There was an excellent coffee machine in the room but nothing to make tea
The service was top class: friendly, catering to each individual and welcoming. A very personal touch from Joseph, Suzanne, John and Isabella. There was an excellent level of cleanliness. Modern facilities. Excellent location - made Valletta a very walkable city. The check-in process was also very easy. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, from Pat & Mary

United KingdomWe really enjoyed our stay and I can't think of anything to dislike - apart from a soap dish in the bathroom would be useful.
A great location in the heart of Valetta with plenty of restaurants and bars close by. Easy walking to the whole town and particularly close to sea views at Lower Barrakka Gardens and Fort St Elmo. We particularly liked the roof terrace and enjoyed end of day sunshine and views there. Breakfast was substantial and having fresh water available in the reception area was appreciated. All the staff/owners we met were very friendly and efficient and we felt very much at home. We were able to take advantage of a late check out which was very helpful.

Loved our stay—the location is quiet but very close to all the attractions and best restaurants/bars in Valletta. Little things like providing slippers and fresh water daily in the room are such a nice touch.

BelgiumWhen a fire alarm went off, the staff really dropped the ball: no staff was on site, guests were recommended to turn off the alarm system themselves and no emergency services or hotel staff showed up after repeated phonecalls... Really disappointing after a great stay.
Jacuzzi was great. Breakfast and facilities as well.

United KingdomHaving travelled hand luggage only, some shampoo/conditioner would have been a nice addition. Otherwise exceptional.
The accommodation is unmanned mostly but access was super easy and clear. The key codes work really well and give you the freedom to come and go. The room itself was lovely, and exceptionally clean- great TV and coffee machine! The complimentary breakfast was excellent, and the cakes delicious! Really good find!

SwitzerlandThere were no chairs or little table on the balcony. I think when you offer a balcony these should simply be there. I asked about it twice but at the end I got no respose why, that was not clarified. Shame. Bathroom was super nice design, even with two showers in it ... but not so practical, meaning no towel rails, not enough hangers to hang wet towels or bathrobes. Apart from that all good.
Great location, Super cleanliness and nice fragrance all over the place. Jacuzzi on the roof as super cool addition. Good coffee at breakfast and coffee maker in the room.with coffee available every day. Interior design was thought-through and classy. Iron and small ironing board in the room. Comfortable bed, nice big good quality towels and bathrobes. Soaps and shower gel replaced. Overall lovely little hotel to stay in for a shorter visit in Valetta.

GermanyAvalon Boutique is a lovely place to stay pretty much in the middle of Valletta yet just far enough from any bars & restaurants to not be disturbed. Our room was beautifully furnished, well cleaned and the beds where incredibly comfy. Staff was always helpful if we had questions about the neighborhood or the venue itself. Some points of interest for other travelers: - they have a sizeable lift that reaches all floors, including the rooftop area - the hot tub on the roof can't be reserved - we had bathrobes & shower slides waiting in our room so you won't need to bring your own - keep an eye on your booking.com messages after booking as they will send you access codes to get into your room. Overall, a really enjoyable stay for 7 days and a great place to start exploring both Valletta & the rest of the islands as both the ferry & bus terminals are only a few minute walk away

United KingdomThere is no reception during the day however lots of assistance is available via the excellent cleaning staff and the app
Large, well equipped bedroom, impeccably clean. Although no staff on arrival (everything done via codes) the technology worked perfectly and codes provided were accurate and it was easy to "self-check in", and the cleaning staff who were there were really helpful. The honesty bar at the breakfast zone was a great touch, I availed myself and paid the really helpful breakfast staff the next morning.

United KingdomThe hotel provides a breakfast service that consists of selecting a pre-prepared baguette, roll or bagel that can be heated if required. This is accompanied by a choice of hot drinks and there was a small selection of fruit available. Whereas we were ok with this arrangement, it would not suit everyone. Although the dining area space was not extensive, a suggestion would be for a limited self-service buffet to be provided as an alternative. Some minor suggestions to further enhance the room comfort would be the provision of soap dishes for the shower and the bathroom sink and either a towel rail or more suitable hooks to dry towels.
The Avalon Boutique has recently been re-furnished to a very good standard. It is very clean and well cared for. Our bedroom was a good size and the bathroom was a good size equipped an excellent shower. The room was well equipped with a very efficient mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The location of the hotel is perfect for being able to walk to all of the principal attractions. The staff were all extremely welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. An added bonus feature is a very good jacuzzi located on the roof which also affords great a views of the city.
