Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only thing was the fact that the front door lock is a bit sticky and needs some easing. This prompted the occasional nervous moment when it was a little difficult to get in. Nothing a bit of graphite wouldn't put right.
Breakfast was not included, but the location is superb, with easy walks to the town square, opposite the beautiful church, good local shops by the side of the church and a numbers of friendly bars and restaurants to chose from. Do pay a visit to the delightful Casa Bernard, which is just round the corner from the flat. You will get a glimpse into a traditional Maltese aristocratic house and be shown round by the delightful owners. It's also a very short walk to the wonderful city of Medina, which is an absolute must-see. Don't miss the Palazzo Falson for it's wonderful 13th century architecture and its collection of painting and artefacts. The Cathedral Museum is also worth a visit, although you may tire of paintings of martyrdom and blood! There are still some wonders here. There is also a highly recommended trip to a number of early Christian catacombs, which are full of atmosphere and where you can see some 4th Century frescoes still. The St Agatha's catacomb was our favourite. The house itself is really beautiful, situated in a quiet pedestrian lane. It's a 400 year old house with a magnificent entrance hall and beautiful stone staircase to the first floor flat, with it's tiled floors, red glass chandelier and wonderful roof terrace. This old house is so lovely that every time we went out there were any number of people taking photos of it! You seem to be stepping back in time.

AustraliaThere was no screens on the Windows, so we did get bites from mosquitos. It would have been nice to be checked in by Eitenna but she was only a phone call away if needed.
The old house was amazing, tucked away in a beautiful little ally, your in an apartment on the top floor within the house but I don't think anyone else lives there. The apartment is a few minutes walk to Mdina and the bus stop, perfect position to all sites.

United KingdomOnly a small one: it would be nice to have a curtain / blind in the bathroom. As we were there at the beginning of May, we had to switch the lights on around 8.30. Probably wouldn't be an issue in the height of summer.
Lovely flat in a house with a lot of character. Well located within 5 minutes walk to the main bus stops in Rabat. The roof terrace is great to enjoy the sun with a glass of wine. Evening walks around the old town of Mdina were just fabulous. Contact with the owner worked well with speedy responses to any issues (there weren't really any). Whilst there is no direct road access by car, the bus service worked so well for us that we didn't bother with a hire car. There were direct buses to Valletta, Dingli Cliffs, Haga Qim, Hypogeum, Blue Grotto, Buggiba (for a final day's laze at Cafe del Mar) and the airport. Bus 186 gets you to within 5 minutes walk of a Lidl supermarket. The flat was well equipped with all cooking gear and even had a couple of spare sun hats.

South AfricaMaybe a microwave oven will be a good addition.
The hosts were extremely friendly and very helpful. The house is conveniently located close to the old city of Mdina, with restaurants and shops around the corner. The building was perfectly restored and has much atmosphere, what you would expect from an island that features in the Bible!

AustraliaFor some people a microwave and dishwasher might be necessary, but this was irrelevant for us. The apartment required 3 flights of stairs to reach, but this was not a detractor.
A beautifully renovated 400 year old house, with a delightful terrace, teeming with succulents. Etienne, our host was very helpful, obliging and concerned we were comfortable.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaSomething we found pretty irritating was the fact we couldn’t lock the door of the place when leaving. We could only lock it from inside.
We loved the vibe of the place with a most wonderful terrace and a terrific view of Rabat. The location was perfect and the host is really friendly and extremely helpful. The place is well equipped, rustic, but still modern.

United KingdomWhat can we say? A beautiful apartment in a beautiful house, equipped with everything you need for a stay on the spectacular island of Malta. Hosts Etienne and Jonathan are two of the loveliest people we've ever met, so what's not to like? Malta is magical, and its people are too. When you visit, be sure to stay here, and you'll adore the stunning views of Rabat from your own roof terrace, with Etienne's phenomenal collection of plants surrounding you and a family of tiny lizards coming to say hello. We're missing it already!

GreeceEtienne is an amazing host, full of positive energy and really helpful with showing us around! The house is absolutely gorgeous, modern and at the same time traditional. A must stay if you're planning to stroll around Mdina and Rabat. Very quiet, full of light, and homelike. Maybe the best place in whole of Malta! Highly recommended!!
