Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The place is very nice and the hosts are also very nice. The yard is very cosy and the breakfast is perfect for the price you pay because there is cereal, cornflakes, vegan milk, juice, fruit, vegetables, jam, cheese and bread. For the price you pay I think this is very very nice and one could not expect anything more/wouldn't expect any breakfast at all for the price so thank you for the nice stay.

MaltaThe mattress was a bit thin but not uncomfortable. The house smelled strongly like spicy cooking. If you stuffer with allergies/asthma, this is maybe not the right place for you as the old stone walls drop dust.
Privacy, clean, sweet notes left around. Easy check in/out. Plain and simple and very traditional looking. Very clear instructions to get there. It really served its purpose well for us.

MaltaSince its an old property the walls tend to be dusty and a little flaky. So dont be surprised to find dust that was not there the night before when you wake up :)
The property is situated in a quiet alley in Gharb. We received clear communication on how to enter etc and it was easy to find thanks to the instructions. Breakfast is self service with a selection of continental items. I also like that they had some items one can borrow such as a speaker or a snorkel.

PolandVery uncomfortable bed with springs digging into the back, but it could be easily fixed, e.g. an additional top mattress. It wasn’t a problem but a little strange is that bathroom is next to the room but it is possible to make a door to the hol and make room with bathroom inside.
Very nice, traditional building with a Gozo atmosphere.

This stay was a very pleasant surprise. The house is very clean, functional and full of character, and the host is lovely. She kindly suggested restaurants, supermarkets and beaches around the place. The breakfast was also very good and different from what we usually find in other hotels and guesthouses. Too bad we could only stay one night!

MaltaIt's an old house, so you just have to accept that there will be some dust falling from walls and ceiling in the room. There's no breakfast really, you just help yourself to some coffee and cereal.
Location is good. It was very quiet. Great value for a one-night stay.

Czech RepublicBreakfast was very simple, I'd appreciate some fresh farm product (it's a farmstay). Milk was just soya milk - not very good with corn flakes :-( Ham/cheese were missing. Not fresh bread - more pastry options would be fine too. Shower room gets flooded after taking shower. Pillows are hard.
It's a perfectly peaceful house. Spacious room. Stylish furniture. Owners very helpful, offering to leave our luggage after check-out hours in the house.

United KingdomThere was absolutely nothing not to like!! Everything was amazing.
I had a fantastic time staying in Gharb, Gozo. The accomodation was lovely and quiet, perfect for both to rest and to explore the island (via foot, bus or car). The owners left a lovely note with lots of recommendations on what to visit. I will certainly be back. Highly recommended.

Czech RepublicI liked everything, but some may be bothered by the fact that the house and amenities are not new (except for the bathroom), the relatively frugal breakfast, or the fact that the house is in a small alley and you can't drive up to it.
I stayed in eight different accommodations during my stay in Malta and this was clearly the best. I absolutely loved the historic house and how tastefully it was set up to accommodate guests. Breakfast was not very rich, but I had what I would have had at home: oatmeal, fruit and tea. - Authentic accommodation in a beautiful historic house. - Possibility to sit outside in the evening in the courtyard in the middle of the house. - Quiet - no noise from cars or people (this is not common in Malta).
