How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

No main area to sit during the day/have a drink after we had checked out Noisy from street and bars below which didn’t bother us too much but if you were a light sleeper it would. Earplugs were provided which was good
Great location in the centre of Valletta. Staff was very attentive at reception and breakfast. Room was very clean and services daily Great ammenities in the room including drinks and toiletries

My one complaint is that I booked a room with what I believed was going to be a large terrace.instead our terrace was more of a narrow balcony that nevertheless had two chairs on either side of a coffee table if one wanted to eat or drink outside… so perhaps the terrace did not meet my expectations, nor really the specific view. But that is a small quibble that would not keep me from recommending the Barrister to those seeking upscale but not ostentatious accommodations in Valetta!
All in all the Barrister is a lovely, cozy, elegant place to hang your hat when visiting Valletta as the charming city is literally at your doorstep. The room was light and airy with very comfortable bed & lots of bathroom amenities and yes wonderful shower. The breakfast was full of options as well as excellent coffee made for each guest. Manager usually on hand with lots of tips for visiting the city. Hotel surrounded by streets with restaurants.

Centrally located in Valletta with easy walk to everything. Comfortable, modern and clean room. Kind staff. Loved the dog barrister artwork. Would definitely stay again.

All generally fine. However, having an overhead shower in the room would have been preferred, or at the very least a curtain/partition to stop the water getting everywhere. A few more seating areas in the bedroom and clothes hooks would have been useful. These are minor issues though.
Really enjoyed the hotel. The location is excellent and convenient. Staff were particularly friendly and helpful. The room was very generously sized, clean and comfortable. The complimentary mini bar refreshments were very welcome as well. As was the air conditioning. The continental breakfast was also very nice, and it was a pleasure that the hotel was not very busy and crowded. We will be sure to return.

The noise level was unfortunate but the location was awesome. They had ear plugs on the nightstands but were not sufficient to block the noise. Maybe have white noise machines in each room. Was expected more of a full service restaurant.
Breakfast was continental. Location was great except Vallettas party street backed up to hotel. Very much noise until 1:30 am. Rooms were nice and comfortable.

Would of been nice to have had a bar for the evenings, plus sitting area.
Staff were great , very clean. They were all so helpful at any time of the day. We would definitely go back .

Being near to some bars, sometimes it was very noisy outside. Unfortunately rules from Valletta were changed regarding silent hours.
The propriety was in the center of Valletta. Near to any restaurant and in walking distance to any attraction. Room was exceptionally clean and with all the necessary accessories. Hotel personnel was very nice and polite and very helpful. Hotel even provided earplugs.

If you are 185 / muscle guy - it will be a problem to take shower
Great localization , if you want to visit Valletta , it is the proper place. Close to bars, restaurants and all attractions of the city. Very comfy beds, nice interior, friendly staff.

Very strong heating in the rooms, difficult to regulate (the room was heated to more than 23° upon our arrival - we tried to turn down the heating to a more comfortable sleeping temperature, but the room cooled down only very slowly - opening the window was not a good option due to the rather noisy location) As mentioned above: location next to a street with many bars, which were quite noisy on weekend nights

The hotel is welcoming and chic, we felt "at home", clean and comfortable. The central location is excellent, close to any point worth visiting. The staff is very attentive to your needs and involved, the varied breakfast. I highly recommend this location. Mark, the owner, is a special man, he helps you with information that will make your stay memorable. Thank you for everything!

A shelf in the bathroom would be great.
Nice clean interior, friendly staff, wifi was good, heating worked well. The breakfast was good, especially coffee. I recommend.

Missing hooks in the bathroom. Window lock needs adjustment. Fan in the bathroom pretty loud.
