Nice place , relaxing space and good food

Nice clean room , but slightly small . We enjoyed a meals in La Tonnelle, very tasty and good value of money .

Price could be lower.

Comfortable rooms with aircon and good wifi. Very friendly hosts and staff. Good breakfast. Sea across the road, beach 200 m. Supermarket and few restaurants are nearby. More shops and eateries in Triolet 2 km away. Bus stop just outside on the road.

Shower was always cold. Tiny ants abit of a problem. Pool area not so great. TV not so great. Not a good selection of channels . Also the plug point for the kettle was not easily accessible. Cord was too short. Cups for tea and coffee in the room too little. The bar fridge in my room worked but not the best condition. Reception area could be a little more spruced up .

Close to the beach. Supermarket and bus route. Very accommodating to your needs. Loved the staff. Very helpful. Very friendly. It was more like a family atmosphere. Very relaxed atmosphere. Loved the plants and flowers. They really did go the extra mile for me. I would go back !!!

Having to move on

Extremely warm welcome and the new proprietor could not do enough for us. We got a free upgrade without asking and received a free 15 minute massage from the magic handed Verana. As a new acquisition, the hotel is undergoing refurbishment. However, this is being done out of view. Our room was clean, loads of storage and refreshed every day. We particularly enjoyed meeting family and guests at the delicious 3 course dinner which was great value. Luckily for us, the excellent dive centre, Dive Spirit, was part of the complex. Everyone made us feel at home and the sea was over the road. Thank you.

The pool is mostly used for diving so not available in the mornings but fine when we did have a dip I hadn’t realised the set evening meal times - it was fine but be prepared

The hotel manager Valerie was so helpful - she stayed late when our flight was delayed to check us in, helped me with a medical issue I had and came to check on me, and was very flexible with our check out because of a late leaving flight. We were travelling around quite a bit so only ate dinner once but it was delicious. Loved the bar situation - made it so easy to grab refreshment when required

Room (suite) is basic and overall I would rank the hotel/ room as a 2 stars. Breakfast is very basic and repetitive. Pool (very small) was only used by the scuba diving school. People taking dinner usually party there very late in night, so it might be noisy. Accommodation in general is much poorer in reality than on website. Cleaning services are rather superficial.

Location is good, as one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius is over the road. We had a large family room (suite) with balcony. Balcony was large, so we spent there most of time. Room was cleaned every day. We got a 15 minutes massage from the house, and we really appreciated it.

The shared dinners were a bit tricky, since we didn't know this was the concept of the place. We liked the food, but we often had to wait for everybody to arrive. This didn't alsways syncronize well.

The staff was really nice, welcoming and helpful. Good deals on trips. And good money value.

The room was clean, large with a balcony and a view of the hotel bar. A self-service bar was available throughout all the ďay. Dinners were excellent. But the best thing about the entire accommodation is the staff - friendly, helpful.

I have nothing nice to say except that Mr. Gert is the biggest fraudster, I paid for the hotel in cash and after that the hotel was charged to my credit card and now he doesn’t want to give me back the money for the hotel that I paid for twice.

It is very close to a beautiful beach. Cleanliness every day, nothing to say, sufficient and very good breakfast. Now since dinner I have a lot to say but briefly it's fantastic, like at a restaurant with many stars. Exceptional food. A large grocery store 300 meters away. It's really perfect.

The only small thing to mention is, since we had half-board, that sometimes it would be nice to be able to choose our dinner mains (for example if on a given day we would want vegetarian instead of a meat dish, or fruits for dessert instead of ice cream/sweets). But honestly, the main complaint we had is that we could not stay longer!

Our stay at La Tonnelle guest house was a truly amazing experience. The owners are wonderful people, who went above and beyond to make us comfortable and who helped us a great amount in planning and executing our excursions (which was not always simple because we were travelling with a young baby), but most importantly they made us feel at home and amongst family. The staff is also wonderful, and very friendly. The guest house area is very pleasant to hang out, and a beautiful beach is very close by. The food is very good, especially the creole-inspired dishes.

Loved everything!

What a fantastic find! The guesthouse is directly opposite a great beach and a short distance to Grand Baie and other popular beaches. The room was big and airy, with a lovely private patio. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with a choice of cold and hot items. The best part was the (optional) dinner - delicious food served family style. It’s a chance to chat to other guests and experience authentic Mauritian cuisine. The hosts, Marlene and Gert, went out of their way to make it a fantastic stay, including organising excursions. Excellent value.

The pillows and the bed could be more soft.

The People were the best, the staff/owner and the guests. Having a different dinner every night, sitting all together and listening to all kind of story's. We wished we could've stayed longer and we're definitely coming back. The owner helped us with every question or wish we had, some of the nicest, heartwarming persons I met during the last time of travel. Thank you and hope to see you soon. There are also some Restaurants and Streedfood we tried and there is also a nice Beach not to far away. We also booked a massage in the hotel and we can recommend that also.
