Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Staff: wonderful people, attentive and neat. Style: style is thought of in everything, both in the design of houses and in the landscaping of the territory.

United KingdomBit disappointing that the pool was just a plunge pool but understood why but would have loved a swim surrounded by the flora and fauna !! Bit really there is nothing not to like it’s a breathtaking experience
Such a fabulous location so peaceful and full of bird song and wonderful staff who all appreciated the land, animals and birds. Comfortable rooms and great breakfast with local fruits etc. we are so sad to leave and hope to return to one of the new buildings which have a fabulous view across the valley.

United KingdomOnly the mosquitos. As expected when it rains they are out and about. Put on lots of spray, they sell it if you don't have. They have the coils provided for free, light them. If you do the walks I would wear socks and long sleeves if possible. We went straight from the pool on a walk with no sprat and got eaten alive...... our fault and they had given is plenty of advice but we are British and stupid.
Everything about our stay was perfect. It went well above my expectations. The work and small details that go into this place is amazing and you can tell that so much care and passion has gone into making this place special. The bedrooms were cosy with mosquito netting and the best silent air con. Each room had its own bathroom and even 2 sinks in ours. The kids loved their room as it was partially split so they were together but had some privacy. There was no TV which was a big plus and wouldn't have fit in. There is WiFi. The kitchen is functional and fits the place well. Now..... the patio is what really makes this so unique and amazing. If I build a house this is what I will do! A fire which we were en outaged to light, with plenty of logs. 3 tables. One set for lunch and dinner, which they bring up to you! Most of the veg and eggs is from the garden and chickens. The patio is semi open with windows that look so nice and with a view of the palm trees outside, there was a large garden and a BBQ which we used, they provided the charcoal etc. They have food onsite for BBQ and basic provisions. Nice wine, beers. Horses are roaming free! Vegetables are growing, hens are laying, flying foxes are flying! Up at the small plunge pool is another fire pit, a small bar area lounges and an amazing view. It's a bit of a climb but you can drive if you're lazy. I don't remember giving any place on Booking 10 stars as I feel 9 is always enough, but this mind-blowing. I would love to spend months here drinking wine in front of that fire ..... the staff were friendly and laid back. The place was spotless despite our attempts to make a mess. Thank you so much!

United KingdomIt really was great, not really a negative but just be prepared this is full countryside so more bugs / animals around at night / the bats were very loud!
This place is amazing! The pictures can’t even do the setting justice. It is such a beautiful and luscious forest / jungle area. The food was amazing, we did the home cooked meal the first night which was super tasty and a bbq on the second evening. Stopped at a beautiful restaurant Le Chamarel for lunch down the road. Lots to do and near to seven coloured earth which is worth looking at.

GermanyThere are lots of mosquitos, but those are to be expected in the woods. I brought some eco-friendly bug repellant and it mostly kept the bugs away.
I loved the concept of staying in a cabin on an eco farm and having the staff fill my fridge with prepared meals for me to heat when ready. It combined the best aspects of camping without having to worry about meal prep or sleeping on the ground. My bed was extremely comfortable and the AC kept my room at a reasonable temperature. I thoroughly enjoyed going for walks around the farm (tip: bring hiking boots) and taking late afternoon dips in the pool, which had stunning views. I requested vegetarian meals and they were always delicious (also the portions were huge -- I was able to save some leftover food from my dinners to eat for lunch on the following days). I took a farm tour with Sophie on my last morning and it was so interesting to learn about the different plants and animals that live on the farm. All of the staff were extremely helpful, but Sophie really went out of her way to make my stay perfect. I am already dreaming about coming back again someday!

SwedenThe smell was really bad in the chalet, it smelled like mold, the room was small for 3 people. The breakfast was good but it would be good with some variation, we stayed for 5 days and got the same everyday.
The location and the nature was beautiful. The staff was nice and helpful.

United KingdomA first trip to Mauritius and this was the perfect stay. My mum and I had a two bedroom lodge, the veranda overlooked the beautiful scenery and a delicious breakfast was provided each morning, you really a lot of space and privacy. The swimming pool has the most sensational views and is just a short walk from the lodges. The trails around the farm are also wonderful, so lush and green and so many incredible birds. At dusk there's a wonderful common area view point, where we spotted seabirds and a flying fox bat. Take your binoculars. There's a shop on site with everything you need. We booked meals for most of the evenings and they were lovely! The location was excellent for accessing chamarel and black River gorge and onto various beaches just a drive away. Highly recommend staying here to really connect with nature.

IrelandI loved it, however if you want to go out in the evening to a different restaurant every night this is not the place for you
Incredible location, beautiful scenery and very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed 3 nights and didn't leave the property as we didn't have a car but we were very happy after a busy week to stay at La Vieille Cheminee and just relax. We had great weather and the shop on the property had everything we needed for our evening BBQ. We spent our time enjoying the property's treks and cooling down in the pool, which was clean. Although the property was full, it felt like we had it to ourselves. The highlight every morning was when our delicious breakfast basket was delivered. I highly recommend this accommodation and would love to go back.

MauritiusWe struggled a bit with the wood provided for the fireplace as they were wet and not picking the fire but we made do.
This is our 2nd time staying at Vielle Cheminée and as usual my husband and I are always happy with our getaway there! It's perfectly hidden in the hills of Chamarel, surrounded by nature and animals. We love the farm life and the fireplace. We stayed at La Cabane this time which is smaller than La Remise but definitely cozy. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was clean. The breakfast was great as usual and we enjoyed the dinner which we ordered ahead of time. 100% recommend if you are looking for quiet time away from city noise.
