Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkThe apartments are spacious and have a well functioning kitchen. We were in apartment 6 and had a very large patio area, that functions as a living room with an amazing view. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay again when visiting the LeMorne area in Mauritius.

FinlandThe restaurant was not open at all times. However, there is very good restaurant within few minutes walking distance and other restaurant on the public beach, few minutes by car.
We loved our stay at Ma Vie La. The location was brilliant near Le Morne beach and the views from our apartment 5 were amazing! The room was clean and functional and the staff was very polite and kind. We would definiftely stay here again!

United KingdomI had room 5 which has an amazing view and the terrace alone was worth it. Just beautiful. Basic bedroom, well equipped kitchen (if you want that). There is a restaurant but it never seemed to need open. No breakfast first example.
Maviela is a property with serviced apartments in a local hotel setting, which was perfect for me. I’d you don’t want to be in a chain hotel paying through the nose to be surrounded by fauning honeymoon couples or noisy families, this is the place for you. Lovely helpful staff, very professional, I just loved every rustic minute of it. The pool was lovely and usually quiet.

FranceVery charming accommodation in Le Morne. Several apartments built on a mountain in a big green garden with pool and seaview. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. All apartments have complete privacy and are very well equipped, especially the kitchen. Good location in Le Morne only 3 minute to the beach. Car definitely recommended to do grocery shopping and to drive to the beach (where you could also walk 10-15 minutes) and explore the area. Really, the beach hotels in Le Morne are all 5 star and very expensive. Ma La Vie is a perfect compromise and the best affordable accommodation in the area. And you must add that Le Morne is the most beautiful beach in Mauritius so it’s a must go. The accommodation is definitely good price-money.

Czech RepublicNoisy, dated and a bit unresponsive air condition. Unless you like to walk some 20 min in the heat to the public beach, you need a car/taxi. That said, the ride is short and comfortable and there are no parking problems whatsoever, so if you got a car, no problem at all. And there's no accommodation right on the beach except big resorts, so if you don't want to stay in one, this is the best location you can get.
As good location in Le Morne as it gets (more of that later). Very friendly hosts. Great views of the sea and Le Morne mountain. Nice outdoor seating. Well-equipped kitchen. Sort of laid-back, hippie-like vibe all over the place. Nice pool. Parking lot ample in size.

BulgariaWe had an absolutely delightful stay at this hidden gem in Mauritius. The location is simply excellent – tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, yet offering breathtaking views of both the sea and the mountains. The tranquility of the surroundings creates a serene ambiance that is perfect for relaxation. Our host was incredibly warm and accommodating, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was nothing short of perfect. The nearby restaurant served up delicious meals, adding to the overall experience of indulgence. While the beaches are a bit of a distance away, we found that it only added to the sense of seclusion and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of our surroundings. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better getaway. If you're looking for a place to unwind and reconnect with nature, look no further – just sit back, relax, and enjoy the tranquility of this marvelous retreat.

United StatesI can't actually recommend the particular apartment I had, Apartment 8. Rather than rooms in the main structure, Apt. 8 is something of a crude lean-to tacked onto one side of the main building and with large gaps in the boards that allow all the local fauna to enter. Even more problematic, the bathroom is separated from the bedroom by an outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen itself is fine, but the bathroom "door" was nothing but a thin, constantly billowing shower curtain which afforded extremely little privacy for using the toilet or the shower. Would consider returning to the guesthouse complex, but not to that particular apartment.
In general, this is a very nice property in a quiet residential neighborhood and backing directly onto the north side of Le Mourne. Pool is kept very clean and inviting. Beach is a short drive away, but it'd be a very long walk, so I think having a car is essential. Compared with the super-expensive all-inclusive resorts that dominate Le Mourne, the guesthouse is a bargain. Lovely views over the bay to the north.

AustraliaOnly issue for me is you must have a car. There is basically no services in Le Morne and you must drive up to La Gaulette for groceries and cash. There is Dodo Contract cars nearby though where I ended up hiring a car.
Staying at Ma Vie La was like staying with family! Everyone there made me feel so welcome. The apartment itself was well styled and had everything you need and nothing you don't. The view to the ocean made me smile every morning. There is an excellent restaurant onsite which is definitely worth trying and saves having to cook for yourself.
