United KingdomThe helipad is too close to the SPA (noise), the rooms are a bit bothered by the uninhabited smell. And the experiment with the Pan-Asian restaurant didn't work out, but that didn't matter since the main restaurant was wonderful.
Very green, wonderful spa, very well maintained area, excellent breakfast. Stylish hotel interior, friendly staff. Beautiful beach, clear sea. Sufficient privacy. Very good main restaurant - tasty and stylish. Very beautiful beach bags. It’s nice that the hotel strives to maintain a certain level of dress code and a secular, but not intrusive atmosphere. In general, Mauritius has an amazing mild climate, it’s just good there.

Royal palm really exceeded our expectations - excellent location, tucked away enough to enjoy a private beach and relaxed atmosphere but only a short walk away from the town, which is great if you like to explore places. The attention to detail in the rooms was excellent, the staff in the hotel and on the beach were attentive and so amazing, the food was exceptional! Honestly loved everything about our stay.

TurkeyToo much noise comes from the nearby rooms’ doors & from the corridors while sleeping. -The bathroom amenities are not on par with the hotel's overall quality. The shaving kit is the worst I have ever seen at any hotel, and overall bathroom amenities could be better than the current ones. Although they were eco certificated which is a nice touch as the hotel markets itself as a sustainable property, for a hotel like this, you would expect better bathroom amenities. Some recommendations for bathroom amenities: Hermes Eau d’orange verte, Salvatore Ferragamo Tuscan Soul Convivio, Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin; for more mid-range ones I would recommend checking out these companies’ products: Pharmacopia, Atelier Rebul, Le Labo. I personally liked the soap, the cleansing gel, and the conditioner, but the shampoo and the body lotion caused my skin to itch after using them. -In July, the sun sets at around 6 pm in Mauritius, and if you’d like to have dinner by the ocean during sunset, you have no choices at all to dine at the hotel. Dinner starts at 7.30 pm, which is pretty normal, but for a hotel having a view like this by the ocean, having no option to dine by the sunset in July is definitely a negative side. -From the first day of our holiday, there was a musty smell in our room that went away on our fifth day. -The daily fruit plate and our minibar was forgotten to be restocked on our third day. -I made the reservation for our final night on a separate reservation on booking.com but they could not find it, and it took some time for the reception to find our booking on their systems on the last day, as the room we were staying in was booked on the day we were leaving. As hoteliers ourselves, small surprises like a fruit plate for the inconvenience could have been offered. As I made 2 separate reservations, I'm leaving 2 separate reviews & this 8.
One of the best in Mauritius, if not, the best. The kindness & politeness of the staff, well-maintained property, the breakfast, the quality of the beddings, and many great water activities the hotel offers are some of the things we liked so much about this place. All the staff were wonderful, friendly, brilliantly trained and kind, remembered our names from day two, but you can feel that they are also trained with the mindset to sell all the extras, which is pretty normal and expected, but sometimes it gets a little bit too insistent. -You can easily tell that the management cares about the small details when it comes to the overall cleanliness of the rooms and the property in general, but I didn’t notice the housekeeping using vacuum cleaners to clean bread crumbs from the breakfast we had earlier that morning, instead, they were using brooms to clean the floors, which I think is a time-consuming way to clean the rooms and not as detailed as it would be if they used vacuum cleaners. There were still some crumbs left when I came to the room in the evening.

where to start. this place flies under the radar and we are privileged to be “in the know” now. We’ve stayed in numerous five stars in Mauritius, Maldives, and worldwide and there is something about the Royal Palm that just speaks to you. maybe it’s the unbelievably turquoise waters off the beach, maybe it’s the incredibly warm and intuitive staff. whatever it is it’s worked it’s magic on us and we’ve already booked our return in December. Thank you to all of the staff for being exceptional.
