Room needed a bit more lighting in the evening..

My wife and I loved staying at Surf House - just our taste in Lonely Planet old school backpackers accommodation. We had the top front right-hand double room which had a lovely terrace that provided excellent views over the palm trees in the garden towards the sea with The Morne Brabant Rock and a great place to watch the birds and fruit bats flying in the evening. Might need a bit of updating and a few more utensils in the kitchen but was good for us. Supermarket 10 minute walk. A small village which ideally would benefit from hiring a car to get around but we only used the local bus service.

I did not know about the second House so I was a bid dissapointet that the garden was not the one from the pictures. The second House has no garden, but the balcony made me happy again.

I liked my room and the view from the balcony. The room is small but very clean, the bed confortable and the ac a nice plus. You share the Floor just with another room, so u have plenty of space with the kitchen, livingroom and the balcony. I was on the second Floor ( not in the mainhouse ) and the view is very nice. There is a watherfilter so u can refill your bottels. There was also a laundrymachine in Our kitchen.

Dogs in the neighborhood, sometimes loud barking.

The location is great, walking distance from the restaurants and the market even though you still need a car to move further to Le Morne kitelagoon. The atmosphere was relaxed and staff very helpful. Room was clean. Overall good value for money. Amazing view from the top floor.

I dont understand how the host could have such a filthy veranda.

The walls are pretty thin, so be prepared to sleep with ear plugs if you're an early to bed type person. It all depends on who you're sharing the floor with, but just be aware. Also, it wasn't the cleanest place, and the kitchen utensils were old and very well used, but if that doesn't bother you, then you'll be just fine.

This was a really great option for my wife and I as we spent the week in La Gualette. We're both digital nomad, and we're both kiteboarders, and that seemed to be the case with a number of other people in the house, which was really cool. The wifi was okay. It worked well for the most part, but sometimes it ran slow. I switched over to my mobile data to supplement, and that was fine. The room itself was spacious. Our room was on the top floor, just off the shared kitchen. We had our own bathroom, and a door that led to a shared balcony. There were three other rooms on our floor, and we all shared one kitchen and one small fridge. For the most part, we had enough space for all our stuff, and there were enough cooking utensils for what we needed. There was also a downstairs with more rooms and another kitchen. There was also a living room area in the downstairs, which had some board games, books, videos and a pool table (the pool table was warped, so it wasn't worth playing on). The view from the upstairs balcony was great for watching sunsets.

some equipments need refurbishing

we stayed for a month in this house, it was a wonderful experience. very well located close to the Morne and kitesurf spots (7km). equipments are not perfect but are functional and sufficient. Andrea is always available in case of anything. just the perfect place to stay and meet nice people

It is in a quiet location easily accessible by bus and near a supermarket. Space was very clean and secure. Friendly host.

Great value for money. Awesome rooftop with an amazing view 360 view. Perfect for sunset. Very close to the supermarket and Le Morne. Recommend for people who are in the backpacker lifestyle.

We didn’t mind paying for the washing machine and snorkel hire, but I think it would be good to indicate on the property page that this is the case.

We loved our stay here! Trisha was a great host, always making sure we had everything we needed and sorting any issues out quickly. It was lovely to have her around to chat to and we even went on a snorkelling trip with her one day, which was a lot of fun! We stayed in the anchor room, which had its own en-suite, and it was a great size for us. The shared balcony and garden were wonderful to have, making the house feel like a little oasis and giving you space to relax outside your room. The kitchen had everything you’d need, as well as labelled storage space for each room which made things a lot easier when sharing the space with other guests. We would stay here again, despite it not being super close to many places. I’d definitely recommend hiring a car (which you can do at the property for a great price) to explore the coastline, find nice restaurants, etc.

Poor and not stable internet.

It basically was a big appartment with two bedrooms, and a massive shared kitchen/living room & balcony.

Some mould in the kitchen. The room we had was a bit gloomy as balcony shutters and blind jammed in palce. As we only stayed one night nothing to complain about. If you are looking for a five star accommodation this is not it. But if you want a good budget option with friendly atmosphere it ticks the boxes

Large room. Well equipped kitchen. Friendly atmosphere. More than you could expect for the price. (A/C, water cooler, washing machine, ...). Hosts provided accurate directions (which Google maps doesn't) so no problem to find the place.
