How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

- Air conditioning (AC) wasn't very powerful. Had to literally have it running 24/7 and was still somewhat hot at night. And no fan to blow directly on you. And AC unit made weird clicking noises throughout the night. - Very little hot water for shower (takes a while to heat up, then runs out quickly) - WiFi wasn't very fast - No provided cups in the room (I wanted to mix a multivitamin drink)
- Great central location - Very friendly front desk staff that said hi to me every time I passed by - Breakfast is pretty solid (love the eggs!) with great terrace views - Pillows pretty comfortable (and I'm picky) - Lots of well-placed electrical outlets - Solid sized room

The hotel itself is a bit old and city view is not what we expected. Both are not necessarily a bad quality given the price, but it's good to have the right expectations. We would return to this hotel again when in Oaxaca.
Staff (and in particular the young(er) man at the reception) were kind, proactive and helpful in making our stay more comfortable. Location is very central, you can be nearly anywhere within 10-15 min walking distance. Room was cleaned very well and airconditioning functioned well too (nice to have in such a warm city).

As hard as we tried to find any room for improvement at this hotel, we couldn't come up with anything.
The breakfast each morning, served from the top floor, was delicious! Isabela and Christina, and their staff, were wonderful in making us feel welcome, and served up a variety of traditional dishes that were scrumptious. Nash at the front desk was like a daily ray of sunshine with recommendations to some great restaurants, sightseeing, and even a place to dance!

Breakfast was made a few hours before and then reheated, so it wasn't very good
The staff was super helpful and accommodated our bags when our flight home was canceled. The hotel was a good location, close to Mercado Benito Juarez

Everything was right no complaints

I didn't like that it doesn't have a coffee maker, room size is kind of small to our needs .
I liked that it was clean, centrally located and walking distance to the zocalo.

Small room (matrimonial = full) but will just pick a bigger bed next time
Amazing and super helpful staff that made our stay really special by giving us great recommendations about activities but doing them the cheaper way! Also, free breakfast in the morning was a wonderful surprise. The room was small but had everything we needed in a central location. Will be visiting again!

We loved our stay at Real Alma. We arrived early and were able to store our bags while we got lunch. Fabulous location by the main market and walking distance to main square. The room was clean and spacious, with great wifi and air conditioning. We loved the breakfast each morning on the rooftop! Highly recommend staying here!

The personnel of the breakfast does not explain all details of the breakfast very well, e.g. we asked what options they had and what ingredients it includes, the information were provided incomplete, e.g. egg comes with spinach and onions, information was "egg with spinach". We observed this as well with other guests. The pillows are quite hard and the sink in the bathroom is really small. All small details that are not too bad at all.
The room was clean and had a balcony and ac. Internet connection is stable and warm water is coming fast and well. Good breakfast with a lot of options: 2 slices of bread with butter and strawberry jam, a plate of fruit and a dish of either egg, egg with spinach or quesadillas and coffee. Nice roof terrace and parking lot. Personnel in the lobby very welcoming.

I was very comfortable in my room.It was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly.I especially like the breakfast in the morning. It was cooked to order, and delicious. Located only 3 blocks from the Benito Juárez Mercado, it was an easy walk.

The rooms can get stuffy as there are only windows onto the inner courtyard. AC is available
Great full breakfasts included. Near centro, just a few blocks away. Very close to Mercado 20th of Noviembre. 10min walk to many colectivo stations that head to villages.
