How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Kettle in the room would be very useful. We also had issues with water one day.Probably not hotels fault (and it did not impact our stay) as the island has some water problems. However, because staff are not there 24/7 I would advise future guests to keep a large bottle of water just in case you come from the beach and need to have a wash and water is not working.
This place is an absolute gem. We had a studio with balcony and would very be happy to return! Studio looked even better than in the pics - it was spacious, had super comfy bed, loads of pillows and cushions. Internet was fast, shower pressure strong (with hot water), and the apartment was cleaned everyday. Smart TV and kitchenette were very useful. Kitchen was well equipped and even had filter coffee machine and coffee/tea/sugar provided (however no kettle?). The hotel also provides free water which is great. Location wise it was also very good - less than 10min walk to the ferry, so no need to get taxi. Less than 5min walk to the main beach and town square that is filled with street food in the evenings. Their little online guide was also very useful to us. Over all, it was our favourite stay on this trip to Mexico. We fell in love with Holbox and hoping to come back soon, and will definitely stay at Aurora again.

Itching to really complain about. Except, Beds a little too hard for my comfort. But, no other complaints.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Shared fridge , coffee and water were appreciated. Special personal touches in the room, beach bag, beach towels provided. Felt very safe and main door locked. Location close enough to main area but, far enough from any loud music.

Clean, comfortable rooms in a quiet location a stone’s throw from the island centre and beach. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff! Highly recommended

We had a really nice time, the room was cosy and comfortable, i liked the design of the place and the rooms. When we arrived at Holbox there was a storm and i was stressed to come with two kids, but the staff was always so calm and polite. Heather is something that changes extremely fast in Holbox and the next day was sunny and beautiful, I'm happy we stayed.

Leaky toilet (not effluent) although it was quickly largely fixed, the bed was not so comfortable for me, pillows too large; others might not agree. No kettle in the room.

The hotel has poor soundproof and our room had luck of sunlight coming in as was located in the inner yard of the hotel.
This is a very convenient location wise small hotel. Very close to everything. The hotel offers beach towels (which change every day) and sun cream if you need to. The room was a good size.

We think there are better options for this price range, no terrace and no view from the room.
It's a nice hotel with very friendly staff. Beach bags incl towels that was very nice.

Some more sound isolation in the bedrooms would be nice. We could hear other guests slamming doors early in the morning. But no noise coming in off the street, which was good. Didn’t stop us from having an amazing stay.
Super clean, very comfortable bed, incredible staff, and great location! Very quiet street, and just a few blocks away from pretty much anything in the center, and the beach!

The girl at the reception gave us a lot of wrong info which wasn’t great and one day we spilled coffee on the sheets by accident (of course) and we later find out that the hotel makes you pay in case the stains don’t come out - every business has its risks and we found it absurd this would even be an option considering how much we paid for the room as well.
The room was great, really nice new and clean. Location was also super close to the center which was great even though it’s tricky to walk around when it rains but that’s an overall issue of the island.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Aurora. The property is really well located, super close to the main square and also the beach. The rooms were clean and spacious with good air conditioning and comfy beds. We would happily return here on another visit to Holbox.

I usually always find something but this hotel was amazing! Maybe a change of doorknob in room 1 won't harm.
Perfect location! Great wifi. Super kind, helpful and english speaking staff! We were on our honeymoon, so they left us a wine bottle! A very cozy and clean hotel. Free water, coffee and tea stand.

The location was perfect very close to the beach and all the restaurants. The room itself was beautifully decorated and comfortable and spacious. It had a great shower. There was cold drinking water available 24/7. The staff were friendly and on arrival provided lots of information of places to eat/places to go. Would definitely recommend Aurora

There's no deadbolt on the door. Staff turned off AC every day after cleaning so we'd come back to a warm room.
Great location, very nice, clean room with comfortable bed and nice shower. The AC took a long time to cool down the room and the staff turns off the AC every day after cleaning, so it was warmer than comfortable for part of every day. The prices for drinks in the fridge were cheaper than the gas station. The area is quiet and we had no trouble sleeping.
