Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsOnly fans in the rooms, but was fine for us.
Great place for our family with a 1.5 year old. She loved the playing area and the pool, and even got two new grandmothers! Resulting in a very relaxed time for us. You should have a car when staying here.

BelgiumThe hosts are adorable, one of the kindest people I've ever met. They do anything with a smile. It was great being surrounded by nature, hearing the animals when going asleep and waking up. Breakfast was excellent. Great swimming pool. Loved our stay at Villa Morena.

DenmarkBe sure to have a car if you want to get anywhere. However the host family was sweet to drive to the main road where we could catch the collectivo.
Beautiful and clean cabanas. Very helpful and attentive hosts. Beautiful garden with exotic birds and nice pool. Very nice breakfast and food ala carte.

United StatesFor me, not having a rental car did make my stay more difficult. Since I was only a 1 night stay, it was manageable. The resort is about a 10-15 minute walk from the main highway, along a fairly rough road - gravelly and rocky in spots. I took a taxi from my previous hotel in another location to the Villa Morena. To get to the Akumal beach, I walked to the highway and flagged down a colectivo (like a public bus, but really a van). Very safe, no issues, short ride, cost $2 USD). To get back to Villa Morena, Manuel kindly gave me a ride as it was convenient to where his daughter attends her after-school program. (Note: The only reason I gave 4 stars for Facilities instead of 5 was that the ceiling fan in my cabana didn't work due to a previous guest accidentally breaking the remote. There was a stand-up room fan in the room, so I was fine comfort-wise. But I prefer a ceiling fan, as the stand-up fan was just a little too loud for my taste, relative to sleeping.)
I loved the beauty of the property itself and the feeling of being in a more secluded, jungle-like, natural environment! The lagoon pool was lovely and refreshing, even deep enough in parts to dive. It's a very serene, relaxing, quiet environment as others have said. My cabana/bungalow was lovely. The hosts/owners, Vanessa and Manuel, were exceptionally kind to me, even offering short rides for me given that I was alone and without a rental car. This is a family-run, low-key resort -- it was a pleasure getting to know their children too. I even played ping-pong and games in the pool with them! Vanessa recommended the Akumal Bay Beach to me as well (warm/easy to swim in water located at a nature preserve called Tsuuk Akumal Parque Natural - note, there is an entrance fee) and a beach bar/restaurant called Loi-Ha. If you go, try the fish tacos - made with grouper - fantastic!

United Statesoh a few mosquitoes but not really bad.
Loved the whole spirit of the place. Food was excellent, people were so lovely, pool was a joy, just the whole atmosphere. Perfect for just being away from it all and away from the tourist throngs but still close enough to go the beach as desired ( with a car).

United KingdomThis isn’t a property issue as much as my feelings on the area. I had read snorkelling in akumal was the spot for turtles. Ooofffff I do not like that whole set up they have going on there at the beach at all. I wouldnt go back to akumal or recomend it to anyone. However if you want a chill pretty place to relax and enjoy a holiday in a glam glamPing eco spot come here. I would come back to this place just to enjoy the people here, the rooms and awesome pool. They do have bikes to borrow which I had thought about borrowing to cruise to the beach but you have to cross the major road /highway and I felt a little intimidated by that. Not a problem with the place just a problem with my plan and comfort level
The room/individual huts are really spacious and well designed/equipped. We had a lovely bed with mosquito net with working sockets on either side and side tables. A fan. A kitchenette with a mini fridge. Water in a very attractive enamelled jug. Pretty bathroom sink, nice design for separating the shower and toilet. The ceilings are high which I think helped with channeling heat up and keeping the room cool. There was a swing in our room! Our patio had a table with chairs and a hammock. The first day there I took an unplanned nap in the hammock for several hours. As an insomniac this just shows how instantly relaxed I was. The grounds are nicely landscaped and regularly maintained. The pool is a real winner in my book. It was designed to have a natural earthy rocky like structure with a mini water fall type thing, swings and different depths. The water is cool and refreshing and clean. There’s nice loungers tastefully presented with banana leaf umbrellas for those who like me aren’t made for full sun. Absolutely loved it. There are a load of facilities for kids which looked cool and also sortof not in main view while being plentiful. I’m not a person who particularly enjoys holidays around kids but I do appreciate a place that can accommodate what looked like an impressive and fun array of kid stuff while also appealing to my grinchy self. A hard line to manage and this place does it. The included breakfast was more generous and filled with options than anywhere else I’ve stayed in the yucatan peninsula. The staff are all very nice and went out of their way to help us a few times. Would absolutely recommend this place And I really loved the tree by our room

EstoniaVery relaxing atmosphere in the jungle, cabana beautiful, comfortable beds, good sleep, excellent pool and places to chill. Very tranquil place. Staff exceptional, helpful, friendly. Great place to stay longer time than 3 days like we did, The only problem is getting around. Taxis are expensive and charge from every extra move you make, 500 pesos for 10 min drive to the beach. Would highly recommend car rent ( which I realised too late:)), lots of places to go to in the area- nature parks, adventure parks, cenotes. Breakfast at the property really good. Possible to have dinner, which is homemade, drinks during the day. Felt really cared for and would come back 100 percent!

United StatesWe loved staying at Villa Morena. The staff was all very friendly, and the cabana was very clean. The food (breakfast and dinner) was great, and it was very convenient to have the restaurant onsite. We liked the location - away from town, but still not too far - a quick drive to everything in Akumal.

United KingdomVilla Morena is about 2 km from the beach & the taxis charge 500 pesos 1 way so it can get quite pricey coming and going. The restaurant is more pricey than I expected but the food was really nice.
The cabaña was cozy and a lovely sitting area outside with a hammock. Anna the cat would come and chill with us. The pool was nice and the lounges beside the pool were very comfortable. The birds in the morning were amazing to hear. The breakfast is a varied selection & the fruit platter was very tasty. It is a very beautiful stay and our favourite thus far of our holiday.
