Amazing staff, they were so kind and fun to talk to. The location was great, and there are parking options around. The place has a lot to offer, food, drinks, pool and a roof to relax. We will definitely be back once we are in Bacalar again :)

I wish I stayed longer.

Having been travelling for nearly a year all over the world, I rarely give a 10 rating, if ever, but Casa Chukum was one of the best accommodation I have ever been to. Immediately, you are warmly welcomed by the amazing staff of the hotel. The hotel itself is unique, with an amazing garden and pool, and the rooms are tailored perfectly to your needs. Location is great.

Our stay at Casa Chukum really was a home away from home. This was a last minute booking but after looking at all the amazing reviews we were so glad we chose to stay here. The family have created a beautiful unique hotel full of charm. It’s 5-10 mins walk from the centre and the lagoon, an amazing rooftop and garden / pool area to chill out in the shade or sunbathe. Coffee, tea and cold water was available 24/7 and the hotel was clean and fresh. The communal area is so well thought out with art work, games and some extremely lovely doggies to welcome you back each day. Thank you for having us. We can’t wait to visit Bacalar again and stay again.

The perfect place to get around in Bacalar! The people that run the hotel really understand what hospitality means and showcase it in everything they do. The approach is very personal and everyone is always in for a nice chat about Bacalar, Mexico, or any other topics. The rooms are nice and tidy and the garden offers you a nice opportunity to relax. Restaurants and the lake are within 5 minute walking distance. We couldn’t have wished for a better stay!

The staff at Casa Chukum are absolutely amazing! I cannot even begin to describe how amazing they are. Gina and Xiu are absolutely amazing and made my stay at Casa Chukum, truly memorable. In Bacalar, taxis are not that easy to get to return to Bacalar and the day that I went to el cenote azul, it was difficult getting a taxi back to the hotel. Thankfully, using the wifi at the restaurant, I was able to WhatsApp the hotel to ask them if they could send a taxi to pick me up and they were able to make all the arrangements for me and was later sent a message with the number of the taxi and how far away it was to picking me up. I highway recommend staying at Casa Chukum, as it’s maybe a 3 block walk from the centre, but still close to other restaurants like Mr. Taco. It’s in a nice quiet spot that gives you a better nights rest. Heads up, there are no tv channels on the tv, but are capable of accepting Netflix.

The property could use some onsite parking, however many places dont have this but it is pretty easy to find parking right in front on the street during the week. Not sure about the weekend

The property has a good balance of a modern boutique, jungle and a cozy home-ish feel. It is located in the best part of town. 1 block from the marina, close to many good restaurants and bars, only blocks away. The fort is only 3 blocks away, stores and laundry near by. We felt very safe walking around even a 2am.

Overall, we liked our stay and would stay again. the breakfast could have been more based on “organic” products and juices available without sugar . Rooms a bit anonymous (public space far more interesting) and on the small size.

Not fault of the hotel but there is building work next door which was quite loud.

Absolutely perfect stay at Casa Chukum! Room was extremely nice and comfortable, lovely pool area as well as a rooftop for sunbathing. Great value breakfast (as an additional cost) which we enjoyed everyday. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful in advising us how to spend our time in Bacalar. Special mention to Samantha who was fantastic - thank you so much for making our stay so perfect!

Nothing comes to mind - it is awesome value for money

An absolute pleasure to stay with Deborah and her family at Casa Chukum. It really feels like a Casa (home) with so much attention to detail. Boardgames and treats for the kids a welcome drink, lots of advice. All in a beautiful garden setting, conveniently located a 5 minute walk to the town center and many nice restaurants and bars around. The perfect place for a Bacalar adventure. We travelled as a family and our daughter love the lounge area, the garden and pool and above all Luna and Bimba

- rooms are modern with huge and comfortable beds. - there are two slide doors which makes the rooms at the garden level at night soundproof. - the garden and rooftop are beautiful and perfect just to stay there relaxing and hang out. - good location; just none street from the laguna and 5min from the main plaza but with good restaurants option one block away. - free street parking - breakfast : for 150pesos you get a big variety and tasty breakfast - last but not least super friendly staff, they will give all the help you need and their tips are useful.

Casa Chukum is in a great location for visiting Bacalar, a short walk away from the zocalo and the waterfront. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, providing excellent local recommendations.

Bad wifi signal in the evenings. Pool area could be improved. Safe was not working and neither did the mini bar.
