A wonderful visit. Casa Hormiga is a serene place with architectural patterns of Morocco, India, and Mexico, evocative textures, and inspiring forms like the soaring palapa to nest under. There is A beautiful library of Taschen art books. Places for rituals of Mexico and India with expert guides. It’s an incomparable setting with a wonderful staff for wise advice. Warm and welcoming. With a bountiful breakfast, too. Throughout my many memories of travel (India, Morocco, Italy) I will hold this place in the highest regard. My friends and I will return—soon I hope. Bacalar enchanted us.

Nothing, I would suggest reading lights for the beautiful books you have to look at since you can’t take them to your rooms.

Wonderful environment - as soon as you step through the doors at Casa Hormiga you enter a peaceful, well-designed gem of a place that is a perfect home base for a Bacalar vacation. Great location, within walking distance to most everything we wanted to do. The staff, kitchen, pool, room are all perfect - can't recommend enough!

A home away from home... Every detail of this hotel has been meticulously thought out with love and care. The staff greet you with genuine smiles, making you feel like a cherished guest among family. The interior and architecture of the building are breathtakingly beautiful. From the cozy reading nook to the stunning pool, every aspect is aesthetically pleasing. Casa Hormiga has truly captured our hearts—a place we would eagerly return to.

It can get pretty loud at night. We recommend booking a room on the northern ground floor, as we did. As a result, we had a quiet room for the most part. Unfortunately, although it was bearable, our room smelled pretty strongly of mold. At best, a thorough dehumidification including subsequent ozonization would be appropriate. What we didn't understand was why the Continental Breakfast was not clearly highlighted during the tour. This could certainly minimize the number of angry guests. It wasn't a problem for us though because we were aware of this thanks to reading the comments in Booking.

We particularly liked the energy of the place and the staff. We felt very welcome and "at home" right from the start. Rodrigo showed us around the whole complex and answered our questions. We really liked the Nest and Julia's yoga classes were brilliant. The location is also great if you want to walk to the center or go out to eat. The hotel's own bikes were also good. We booked a massage on the last day: Julie and Abdel did a great job.

This place as special as Bacalar lagoon itself, real sanctuary. Hotel team was exceptionally nice and helpful. Rooms and all common spaces in the hotel are very beautifully designed and are very-very clean.

Wish the pool was heated 😄 In the morning, it can be a little noisy in the room with cars passing by. The hotel provides earplugs in case you need.

The hotel is gorgeous. Every corner is so cool. The staff is very attentive, the food and drink is excellent. We stayed for one night while visiting from Tulum. I wish we couldve stayed longer. The room was so beautiful. My son loved his bed on the loft. The room is large and the bed and linens are so cozy. I cant wait to come back.

• Beautifully designed • Incredible pool • Over and above service (I had a health issue of a personal nature and Roberto was a legend in heating my hot water bottle etc such a kind gentleman!) • Whatsapp service to book taxis etc SO HELPFUL • Ultimate haven and quiet place • Dogs at night, but they provide ear plugs. They have thought of everything • Location is perfect for peaceful retreat but close to great restaurants and bars • Comfy bed, great shower lovely hammock

Nothing. I know my parents were kept awake with the dogs barking and the cockerel in the morning but ear plugs are provided by the hotel - and it’s not their fault so….

Casa Hormiga is a little oasis in a somewhat busy town. This was a last minute booking due to various reasons (now I wish I had booked this place first and for longer!!!). It has been designed exceptionally well to muffle noises from different areas. We loved our room (the kids especially liked their ‘upstairs’ room. Huge bed. First night our youngest slept with us as she had been unwell and it was fine. Pool is deliciously refreshing! Loved it. I really enjoyed the breakfast (and they were kind enough to make us stronger coffee as being Brazilian we don’t like weak coffee) - nothing was ever too much for the staff. The standout point about the stay though was the staff. So kind and attentive. Victor at the desk was so kind - our youngest daughter was ill on the first night and he was so helpful. Also the bar/kitchen staff were also attentive. Honestly, your staff are amazing!!

We came here as part of our honeymoon and this hotel proved to be the perfect choice. Everything about the hotel from the location to the friendly staff was amazing. They went great effort to make sure we were welcomed with a lovely surprise on our arrival. The hotel itself is fantastic with an amazing design and amenities. Hopefully we will come back here again some time in the future.

Bacalar was our last stop in Mexico and we really enjoyed our stay. We felt like we were somewhere in an oasis. The breakfast was excellent and we were even able to rent a bike for free. We definitely recommend visiting this place.
