Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoThere was nothing to report the hotel that we didn't like just a couple of tips - - the hotel is at least 1 hour from excursions such as Hualtulco, Turtle Release or Horse Riding so if you don't rent a car be prepared to pay a premium for taxi rides to any of these places. - on the way from the airport we asked the taxi driver to stop at a convenience store to get some provisions such as tortillas, chips, yoghurt, soup etc, so that we can make the most of the kitchen. There are no stores around so pick things up en route. (Water is included and free in the room and restaurant). - There is another hotel/restaurant en route to the beach where you can explore another menu if you are not vegan (or have picky eaters!!) however the restaurant at Casa Mauna was extremely good and had a wide variety of options.
Our stay at Casa Mauna was excellent. The property looks exactly as it does on the pictures and was extremely well kept and maintained. The Vegan food options offered a lot of variety and the portions were ample, this included breakfast which was exceptional. The vibe was very chill and as I was travelling with 2 children so it was nice that the property was small enough that we could all freely and safely be around the rooms/restaurant/pool without needing to stay together the whole time. It was an easy walk down to the beach, which was beautiful and almost deserted. As with most places along the pacific it was not ideal for swimming but you could certainly bob about in the shallower parts. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodated all of our needs.

PortugalI think you probably could do with a car to avoid issues and cost getting around and if you wanted to go to Huatulco as it is isolated. The pool is lovely but if you want to swim in the sea it is too choppy and getting to the other beaches on foot is possible but hot work especially if you need to carry supplies (umbrella, cool box etc) however we did not need to go anywhere as the suites and pool and beach were enough for 4 days. Longer and you may consider alternatives.
The breakfast was amazing. I am not vegan but my partner is and I and the other guests at the time of stay absolutely loved the breakfast and the options. By the end when I wanted to get fish and the other places in the area were closed I was secretly happy as the food at Casa Mauna is deeeellicious. Summer rolls were favourite but all the mains and breakfast options are amazing and made with so much care. Our romantic dinner was delicious and very sweet. The vegan baileys??? Amazing. We were also very excited to see so many birds and butterflies (we are from London lol) and the hummingbirds coming to plants during breakfast was a highlight 😀 Lovely staff, met Euan (owner) and his son - very lovely people. Made some wonderful friends during our stay too.

SwitzerlandThe view on the ocean in most of the units is partial. You see a bit of the ocean but not enough to fully enjoy it or to see sunset/sunrise. I was disappointed about that as they advertised ocean view . Loads of mosquitos. Location away from everything if you plan to cook make sure you buy your groceries in Huatulco. We did not rent a car so we were depending in taxi which cost about 750.000 pesos from La Crucecita.
Quiet, comfortable, laidback. Nice terrace. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfy bed. Infinity pool. Food is excellent. Very nice deco and design. Cute little beach 5/10 min away from hotel if you don’t mind the stairs.

CanadaThis property was exceptional. There were so many thoughtful touches that made the stay even more comfortable. I would highly recommend this place as an escape from all things hard. In a time when most things seem expensive this property demonstrates total value for money spent.

CanadaThis is being picky as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Mauna. The variety of lunch and dinner food offerings could be better. The flavours started to taste the same in many of the dishes. Other local restaurants were closed during our visit. We didn’t buy enough groceries for our stay which was a lesson learned on our part. Make sure you bring extra pesos to account for taxis and eating at other restaurants.
Enjoyed being in a tranquil setting and having all required amenities at the hotel. The suite had a kitchen and small fridge which we utilized daily. The beach was a 5 min walk and the hotel provides towels and an umbrella to take with you. We had the beach to ourselves which was a major bonus. We very much enjoyed their fruit smoothies to start the day and a cocktail to end the day.

BelgiumWhile the food from the vegan restaurant is delicious, I would have appreciated some more diversity and some non vegan options leveraging the seafood and local delicacies.
Casa Mauna is located in Salchi, a remote area, with stunning landscapes and beach. The accommodation facing the sea are wonderful and the pool with its lovely cocktails made the stay just perfect.

United StatesSuggestions: make it clear up front the restaurant is 100% vegan and make this clear in the welcome email so omnivores can buy supplies in Huatulco. (you can also eat at Manta Raya - a short walk down the hill) This place is more European style (reserved) than Mexican style (overtly warm and welcoming). Once you adjust to that it's a slice of luxury in the wilderness. Also the hotel description should mention their steps (the hotel is built into a steep hillside): 25 from the parking lot to the first landing, 25 from their to reception/restaurant/pool, 25 from landing to our apartment. So might be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues (OK for us, thinking about others.)
Exceptional architecture/design of building and apartment. Beautiful location. Helpful staff (when asked). Off-site owner responds immediately to questions. Well equipped kitchen. Notes: Only swimming beach is in Cuatunalco just to the left (southeast) of the massive rocks projecting into the sea, opposite the beginning of the lagoon and la Panguita on Google Maps. Best seafood dinner (and least expensive) is in the village at Choza De Chivis.
