The food could be more diverse with some Asian options.

It's a relatively small resort, which means not as crowded as those large ones. The staff are every friendly and courteous. The eco-environment is very natural, isolated, and quiet. We also enjoy its proximity to other attractions in Cozumel on the south and east coast.

The resort is quite far from San Miguel town and taxies to go and back are expensive. There is no alternative to taxies like bike rental The users of this resort are quite old retired people or families and so the activities offered to them. It's probably not the best place for solo travelers who want to socialize with similar guys.

The place is big and accommodates all types of vacation styles: more quiet or more active ones. I liked that you need to walk a certain distance to reach different facilities of the resort. The dive center at the resort is very skilled and works efficiently. I booked my dives in advance with them but, once on site, everything was quick and clear.

Air conditioning. The rooms would not get colder than 76 and were often hotter. There was nowhere in the entire hotel except the gift shop with normal air conditioning...it seemed like the lobby bar had A/C but they kept the doors open and the same with the breakfast/dinner building, it was often well over 80. The lunch buffet room was often over 90. Given that there are few enclosed spaces at the resort it was surprising that there was nowhere just to get a break and cool off. Also, the buffet food was mid, but with the price who could complain? Also: they could use to put down mats or something between the dive shop and the entrance to the lunch buffet, it was sand and my mother had difficulty navigating it.

The dive shop; the people there were extremely helpful and friendly, note only the ones interfacing with the divers, the guys in the materials side were also great. Adriane did an excellent job giving me my SCUBA refresher and as a divemaster, as did all of the other divemasters, I felt completely taken care of and confident in them all. The staff were very courteous. The cost for the stay was extremely reasonable.

I cannot stand the constant attempts to get you to sign up for their vacation club and waste vacation time hearing a sales pitch you have no interest in. This needs to stop as it ruins the enjoyment of staying at a resort, being hustled by huckster "concierges" who are really salesman try to get a commission by roping you into a sale pitch meeting with the promise of 'gifts' meaning discounts on various things. Not enjoyable to have to dodge them every time you go through the lobby. Also, a la carte restaurants should be open more.

The food was the best of any resort we stayed at. Also, we liked that it was quite south of the main town and somewhat secluded. It also had a nice pool and beach area with beautiful water.

The hotel feels a bit old and is in need of a serious deep clean. Several towels had holes in them. The food was OK/ good and acceptable, but nothing mind blowing, which definitely leaves room for improvement. Other than horribly sweet virgin cocktails, water and diet sodas, there was little to no non alcoholic options. Some alcohol free beers and virgin cocktails on the menu would go a long way for adult non-drinkers.

The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The beach and pool areas are beautiful. Enjoying sunset from the beach was a daily pleasure.

The ice makers did not work on the premises and the mini refrigerators did not work in none of the 8 rooms we had for the family.

We loved the area, breakfast and lunch where the best, although very little selection for kids.

The property vastly misrepresents it’s food options. There were not 7 restaurants as advertised, but only 3 restaurants plus a breakfast buffet and a lunch buffet. Unfortunately they don’t have enough restaurant accommodations for everyone so I learned at checkin that we were only allowed to visit the restaurants for 2 meals (out of a 4 day stay) and the rest had to be the buffet. The dinner buffet was downright nasty. We are glad we got a car because we ended up leaving for most meals which made the all inclusive appeal non- valuable. The beach was beautiful but small for the number of guests. The worst part was that the resort allows vendors in at night and these people will harrass you when you walk by. Intense bartering. I unfortunately got had - and purchased some items that I later found in town for much less. It felt a little exploitative of the resort to allow that to be so prominent.

There was only one place to eat breakfast and it was cafeteria style. The food was a little bland, but there was a wide selection of it. We leaned heavily on the fresh fruit bar. They don’t have salt and pepper.

Resort was fairly far from town which turned out to be a bit of a minus if you wanted to do some quick shopping, but it also meant that it was nice and quiet when you wanted to nap a bit. Take a bit of extra cash if you want to make the trek into town.

Beach and pools were great. Most of the staff were very helpful and courteous. It would be nice if the front desk had some change for large bills instead of just sending us to the hotel store that quickly ran out of change. Makes it tough to give tips to the wait staff. The wait staff were very attentive and we never lacked for a cool beverage. Food was fairly good, could have used more seasoning, mostly buffet style. Rooms were very nice and the staff kept things tidy and clean.

The A/C was on during our entire stay but our room remained at 26 degrees the entire time. The pools are both quite small and fill very fast. Very difficult to grab a lounger if that’s what your in to. The food, while good, sadly seems to cater to Americans. Burgers and hot dogs everywhere. Fried chicken, French fries , etc etc. which was disappointing to see. There were very few authentic items available at the two buffets . We had to ask the staff to bring tortillas out from the kitchen as they weren’t even available at the buffet which I found intensely ironic. I suppose they’re simply serving what the majority of the clientele want, but I have to imagine there’s room for some balance there with some buffet space reserved for more authentic fare. It would be nice if the occidental felt it could offer more authentic Mexican/Mayan cuisine. There is also no food available anywhere after 9:30 and the restaurants and buffet run during very specific times. We were used to more food access after experiencing other all inclusive hotels in Cuba and the Dominican. We found ourselves hungry a few times at odd hours with no options to eat.

The occidental had incredible staff that bent over backward to assist where they could. The location is ideal if you want to snorkel or dive as it’s very close to the best reefs. The beach is very small but very beautiful.

Food was only so-so. Beach was badly eroded and nothing like the internet picture. Difficult to get a reservation for dinner at the restaurant I wanted to eat at; it took me three visits to the front desk, talking to three different people to get my reservation changed to the restaurant I wanted, not the one they wanted me to eat at.

Large, clean rooms. Beautiful shrubbery. Easy to schedule a snorkeling adventure by tour company onsite.

There was a miscommunication and we were not told about the perks we should have received as a royal member so it was a bit of a waste of money to spend extra on perks we did not receive.

The location was good and the staff kept up with the beaches. The food selection was also very nice as well as good entertainment at night. I felt safe in the area with a guard being at the gate.
