Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe price of food & water was too expensive Paid 54 pesos for a bottle of water. Some practical amenities like having a chair in a room or a towel hook in the bath would be helpful- not always convenient sitting on a bed to put on your shoes!

Great place to visit chichen itza, especially as we wanted to do go early as possible, travelling with a 1.5 year old. Only the main entrance is now in use, but was just a 5 minute drive, and because of the early arrival, no lines anywhere. Beautifully locatiedirecteur in the jungles.

IndiaLocation! Very far from Chichen Itza site, need taxi. Also the restaurant timings are very unfriendly for visitors to Chichen Itza. I couldn’t have dinner as I wanted to see the sound and light show, and i couldn’t have breakfast as I wanted to be at the site at 8am!
Beautiful old property, lovely grounds and comfortable room.

South AfricaVerrrry expensive coffee at USD 10, when ordered seperately from machine. We complained but no effect. Food also expensive, especially for Mexico. Private entrance to Chichen Itza is closed, unlike advertised. Bad advise given by management as to time to be at gate to avoid queues. Be there at 07h40!

United Arab EmiratesRooms are a bit outdated especially the bathrooms. Quite expensive for the level of rooms and breakfast not included.
Nice hotel surrounded by nature. Historical hacienda, you can imagine life in the house centuries ago. Very close to the Maya ruins site. Big pool to relax and refresh after the visit of the ruins under the sun. Nice atmosphere also at night.

United KingdomThe rooms were very tired and quite basic. The food was overpriced even by Mexican overcharging standards and the spa treatment Prices were totally extortionate. Also the hotel needs to be aware that the reason people are staying there is to be at chichen itza by 8am in the morning before the queues become crazy… there was not enough staff at breakfast, they should be aware that people need to eat and be gone quickly….also passive aggressive notices in the room saying no food or drink to be brought onto the premises….
The setting and the gardens were lovely

IrelandVery impressive Hacienda building with comfortable porch for relaxing and pleasant pool/common areas. The bedrooms are set around the garden or pool and very spacious. Good bathrooms too. The breakfast was good although perhaps a bit expensive. We ate dinner here one night and it was a nice experience even if the food wasn't outstanding I'd recommend it for the atmosphere and service. Good cocktails too! Pool area nice. Very well located for Chichen Itza (5min drive)

United StatesThe problem with this property, though, is they charge more than they say they charge for everything. Their exchange rate is 18 pesos to the US dollar but you’re only allowed to pay in pesos (which is crazy because you are allowed to choose pesos or dollars everywhere else) and the current exchange rate is 15 pesos to the US dollar so they give you the prices in American dollars but charge you in pesos and then add fees that you don’t know about, I would appreciate it if the price is clear, I don’t like feeling like I’m being scammed by a five star hotel. This is 100% intentional, and in my opinion only ends up, hurting the staff. It’s not their fault, but they suffer for it because who wants to tip extra when the hotel is ripping you off?!????!?!
The property is absolutely beautiful. You are immersed in nature and can hear birds all the time It’s absolutely lovely. the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are gorgeous. The spa experience was incredible.

Staff were wonderful. They mostly speak Spanish, but they are very friendly and helpful. They speak just enough English to get you checked in and checked out and bring you the things you need. If you can speak any Spanish, they will be very appreciative.

ItalyThe direct entrance to the ruins is shut and the only way to get anywhere is an expensive taxi. The food is good but not on the cheap end, although in all honesty the view from the patio makes it worth it!
The location is stunning, very peaceful and private, we had the honeymoon suite which was spacious (as was the bathroom!). The grounds are stunning and there is a huge pool. The breakfast was very good and portions generous.
