Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsCheck in could’ve been more welcoming.
At the Uxmal archeological site. Big hotel. Our room (suite) was huge and comfortable. The pool was very pleasant. The restaurant of their sister property was just a few minutes walk.

NetherlandsTerrible breakfast. The bread was several days old and rock hard. The water in the pool was dirty. The lock to our door was broken and we could not lock our door. The hotel is dated.
Great location and quiet. Very close to the Uxmal ruins.

PortugalThe place to stay when visiting Uxmal, which is a 5min walk away. The pool is a great place to relax after visiting the ruins early morning. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Near by there is also the chocolate museum.

ItalyNo restaurant inside the hotel for lunch and dinner and the restaurant next to the hotel is very expensive (41€for two pasta dishes and two bottles of water). All the restaurants next to the place seems to suck.
The location next to the Temple Uxmal. The pool was very nice and relaxing. The breakfast was good (eggs, pancakes, fruits, cereals..) even if very expensive (21euros) but I guess this is the price to pay in the middle of the jungle to have pancakes !

MexicoThe restaurant of the hotel only serves breakfast and for anything else, you have to go to the entrance of Uxmal, at the Lodge for meals at another time of the day. The staff at the hotel was at its minimum despite being during Easter Week - supposedly high season. The pool could have been cleaner, it was full of leaves and flowers falling from the trees. Food at the restaurant (on the other side of the street) is so-so and expensive. Unfortunately, they have a captive client-base and basically no competition, which doesn't help quality. We however enjoyed the food and the service at the Pickled Onion restaurant right outside of Santa Elena (about 15 minutes driving).
The hacienda is very nice and I enjoyed the lush gardens and the large pool where we played with my 5 years old son. The room was big and the bathroom as well. The beds were on the hard side but this is very common in Mexico. I was happy that the room had a mini fridge and a safe to leave our belongings. Waking up to the sounds of birds was lovely. The location was also very convenient to visit Uxmal and the Chocolate Museum. This hotel was great for a two night stay.

United StatesWarm water did not work at times. Probably a common problem in this location.
Excellent location and atmosphere. In walking distance to Ruins of Uxmal and next to very interesting Choco Story museum. While it is a historical hotel it has the atmosphere of a former hacienda surrounded by farm land.

It was close to Uxmal and very exciting that Jackie Kennedy stayed there in 1968 and other people like Grace Kelly.

NetherlandsThe breakfast was a disaster. Heavily overpriced and terrible staff who couldnt perform basic things like serving hot tea or remembering what you ordered, even when we remembered them several times. In the next village there are several better priced options.
Beautiful location with a lot of history. Nature was well taken care of and we had a great view from our superior room.

United StatesBathroom seems like it needs to be updated. The spa tub smelled when the jets were turned on. Hot water took a long time to come through to the fixtures. No dinner on site (maybe just the season), so you need to go offsite. Breakfast was decent onsite. Bar service was very relaxed - maybe a little slow, but there was not many people there, so not really an issue unless you are in a rush.
Nice hacienda style building. Some of the rooms have hosted famous people which is fun to read about. The pool area is nice and a great spot to take a break after sightseeing at Uxmal. We got a large room - which was quite large, but a little dark.

United KingdomGreat location, just a short walk to Uxmal ruins. The Hacienda is beautiful and it's easy to relax as it's so peaceful. It feels like you're taking a step back in time. Staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't use the restaurants as they were pricey and ratings weren't great. Instead we drove into Muna, a buzzy little town 15 minutes drive north. Found great street food there.

HungaryVery limited food options. Breakfast is ridiculously overpriced: 260 pesos for a couple of toast and some fruits. In the evening there's only one restaurant nearby - that is also very overpriced.
The hotel is super atmospheric, it's very quiet and chill. We wanted to visit the Uxmal Archeological Zone first in the morning and for that it's perfect - 5 mins walk. We had the ruins for us, no one else was there at 8 am - and that was priceless. Good price.

United KingdomBar and breakfast were quite expensive. If you don't have a car there's no evening meal option, other than going to The Lodge which was overpriced and not great cooking.
Lovely hacienda with beautiful swimming pool. The setting is fantastic, you're surrounded by trees and lots of birds, not to mention the iguanas. A haven of tranquility. We loved our room with it's traditional slatted windows for ventilation and rocking chairs outside the door. Excellent location for making an early start to visit Uxmal and a fabulous place to return to afterwards.

Beautiful hotel in perfect location for exploring Uxmal. We loved it so much we stayed a second night ! Of a bygone era with wide tiled walkways, wooden furniture and large, well equipped rooms. We had a room on the 3rd floor with an outlook over the gardens and loved it.

BelgiumThe hotel (or recommended) restaurant which is the only one in a walking distance for dinner. Read the reviews before you go or just get dinner elsewhere if you have a car.
Great accommodation if you want to visit the ruins of Uxmal. Nice and clean in a really nice surroundings, worth exploring the history of the hacienda while you are there! Friendly staff and amazing sleep with the silence around. You can be sure to walk through the area of the ruins as one of the first ones!

SwitzerlandFor the dinner, you have to go to the only near restaurant- crossing a street and wood by night in the darkness (some more lights would have been useful). When you arrive there, the menu is very US oriented (Hamburger and Pasta) - It doesn’t make sense. To be honest I’ve asked for more local food, and they made an exception and offered to us what was left from lunch - we were very happy.
Position, tour available and local people. The Hacienda is very beautiful, the breakfast is good and the staff was very nice. The Uxmal archeological site is wonderful!
