Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo reflection on the business, but there is no ATM in Cobà.
Like Mexico was 30 years ago. A gem hidden in an unlikely place, above a tienda that said "Mexican Wal-mart." Overlooking a small backyard/orchard with limes, ciruelas, mamey, bananas, limes, bitter oranges, chickens, many song birds. A delightful, small open air palapa restaurant on that second floor that was closed for the evening, where the family graciously, even encouragingly permitted all 10 of us to eat our dinner and hang out and have our beers. The tienda was very well stocked with fresh tortillas and baked goods, fruits and veggies, including large pineapples in season, a small pharmaceutical cabinet and household goods. Very, very friendly family run business. Seek out places like this if you want to truly experience Mexico, and get away from the congested tourist traps.

SwitzerlandBit dirty behind de mosquito nets. AC air smells like wet soil and should probably be cleaned, but at least. worked.
Neutral Smell of bed and room. Internet a bit weak but works mostly fine. Moskito Nets at the windows had no holes but were sometimes not neatly attached to the frame. This can be fixed with some tape however. Bathroom seemed renovated. No breakfast available but there is a store right under the hotel that sells fresh fruit, and the hotel provided bowls and cutlery, so we had fresh guacamole every morning.

CanadaThe restaurant was not open for dinner or breakfast.
The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean. The air-conditioner was good and powerful. It was close to the Coba Ruins (if you have a car). There was also a little supermarket on the first floor so you can get snacks for visiting the ruins.

PolandThis hotel is surrounded by some very primitive settlements. Residents of these huts cook on fire so there is a bit of smoke around that could be present in your room too. On the other hand: It is a good opportuniny to have a glimpse into some Mexicans daily life.
It's a very cozy place run by a very friendly family. I was lucky to be alone in the hotel so I got some descent sleep (what is not easy in Mexico). Rooms are not particulary soundproof but there is no loud music nor any other noises so I liked it. Also, the owners speak english quite well.

United StatesAdvertised with breakfast, however upon arrival they made us choose between getting breakfast or a room with air-conditioning. To me that was a bit sneaky. Luckly I don't really need AC. Also I think it is a bit overpriced for what it is. In Cobá there aren't many options so they can charge more. Understandable.
Super friendly staff. Decent breakfast (mexican eggs and bread with coffee or Orange Juice) free drinking water, hot water. Very close to Coba Ruins. Mostly quiet at night.

United StatesThey had a restaurant but could not offer most food and drink items on the menu. It seemed like there was only one person working there. You must climb a full flight of stairs with your luggage to get to your room. No help offered. The bedroom had bugs all over, including the toilet, on the floor, and in the bed. The neighbors' cats had a huge fight in the middle of the night and the roosters crowed numerous times throughout the night. We checked out after one night and stayed at another location.
The hotel was in the middle of town and close to the ruins. There was a nice store below that had all kinds of food and drink options. The room was simple, but pleasant looking.

United StatesThe signage directing guests where exactly to enter and check in is unclear or incorrect. There also needs to be some posted instructions for what to do if they can't find a staff member. We were able to find them but we weren't sure who we were talking to till they started helping us.
Excellent location and lots of thought went into the decoration of the place which made it very charming.

FranceThe owner/manager was very suave, showed me to my room, #12, saying, it had no air conditioning. It seemed quiet, but right above the outside kitchen of the neighbors, smells of smoke and whatever else... Sitting outside was impossible after 3:00pm due to the sun hitting, pounding, directly on the passageway; had to either go into the room, without A/C, or take a walk in 35°C in the shade... there's no shade though! At 11:00pm, the electricity of the hotel was shut off: no light, no ventilator, impossible to even stay in the room! I went to the shop under the hotel and complained, and they reconnected the electricity, but it was so hot I couldn't sleep. The next day, I discovered that my Mexican neighbors in room #11 had A/C, and that it was working just fine! They had booked through Booking.com too, and they paid the same price! So the man helped me get someone (the manager was nowhere to be seen!)... Finally, some general manager or else appeared. It took another hour plus until he brought the remote control for the A/C of my room: it worked just fine! By then I was more than fed up with the place, and I asked to shorten my stay, from three nights to two, staying one more night (it was 5:00pm by then!), and leaving the next morning... The man sort of agreed and said he'd be back with the money... The hotel manager showed up instead. He insisted I take a refund for two nights, saying it would make him feel better. I ended up accepting, but as soon as I took the money, he told me I had to go away, that I could not stay there that very night! HE KICKED ME OUT! I managed to find a room nearby, at the ITZA COBA. It was cheaper! It had A/C, a pool, included breakfast, and the staff was great! SACBE and MAYAHAU are run by the same family clan, and both are pitiful... What they didn't make during the pandemy, they try to recover ripping off the foreign customers, ESTRANJEROS, not the Mexicans!
Nothing went well. Bottom line. NOTHING!

PolandI liked everything!
It's a hidden gem in Coba. Rooms are super clean and comfortable with comfy beds and hot water. There is also a big shared terrace where you can eat breakfast, drink coffee (which is available at the hall) or just have a beer in the evening. They also offer laundry services. The staff is super kind and helpful, we felt at home! I would love to come back.

United KingdomI am an Englishman and dong speak much Spanish, therefore I found the staff to be very secretive and talk behind my back, laughing to each other when I leave the room which made the stay a lot worse than it could have been. Also the breakfast was not included, when I ordered jam on toast for $60pesos he wanted me to order something more expensive which I found quite rude.
decent location and good value for money, private bathroom was nice and clean. Both air con and electric fan works, and the TV had to be payed for but I found the code out by myself. 0000 if anyone is interested lol, you have to use the other remote.
