Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Loved everything!! The rooms are amazing, the beds are like clouds. There are personal touches like breakfast served in the room, a mezcal night cap and little notes that make the stay so special. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, they really make the stay even more special and a cut above any other hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

La Valise is one of our favorite hotels. My husband and I stayed at El Patio suite and loved everything about it. The room was spacious, the interior design was impeccable, the bed was so comfortable that it felt like sleeping on the cloud. The location was central and close to all the best restaurants. Last but not least is the wonderful hospitality. Gabriela and Gustavo were so kind and helpful. They made our stay very special. Will definitely come back.

United StatesWe had no complaints whatsoever about La Valise but a few details to keep in mind: -there's no elevator and even the 1st floor room has a flight of stairs in case of accessibility issues. -this is not a place to have a party! The charm and history of this building does mean that sound travels, and you are very understandably asked to be respectful of your fellow guests with regards to noise levels at night. This really won't be a problem unless you were dedicated to going nuts though.
We loved every aspect of this extraordinary property, from the extremely personalized attention (only three rooms in the hotel!) and kind, generous, helpful staff, to the gorgeous, unique space that feels more like a sumptuously appointed luxury apartment than a hotel room, complete with lovely artistic details everywhere you look. La Roma is a special neighborhood in a special city and we genuinely could not think of a better place from which to explore all that it has to offer.

La Valise was a dream! We were so lucky to be able to book it for one night of our vacation- we switched hotels just to stay here. we stayed on the top floor La Terrace with the bed that rolls out to the patio. Staff was very friendly, welcoming and extremely accommodating. They even helped us with recommendations and reservations. As far as location Roma Nte is hands down the best location to walk around to fab restaurants and bars as well as experience the colonial architecture. They also deliver a beautiful breakfast from Rosetta Panderia so no need to wait in line for some pastries! The A/C was perfect you have a small fridge with waters the shower is great and plenty of room!

CanadaNothing.
Our return trip to Mexico City must include a stay at La Valise. A (very) small design hotel, you get to experience a perspective in Mexican design. Our last trip, we stayed in the magical La Luna room and this time we stayed in the El Patio room, where the outdoor space was thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a lovely space to enjoy a good book or just chill out. La Valise is the place where the experience is to just sit back and enjoy the room. Staff are very welcoming and attentive. In-room breakfast is brought to you each morning. The location of the hotel is ideal. The hotel is walking distance to plenty of restaurants, sites, cafes, shops, museums (some are temporarily closed due to COVID) and services. Will stay at La Valise again and again. Highly recommended.

United States1- The property isn’t a hotel. we were surprised that it’s rated as a four stars hotel because it’s not; there is no lobby, no facilities, no elevator, and many other features you find in a 4stars hotel. It looks like a regular building with three rooms. It’s a nice property though but similar to Airbnb experience not a hotel experience. 2- the breakfast is from a different place, it was the same every day until we asked to change and the staff were super nice to offer us other options, the only thing is the breakfast was so cold when we had it. 3- the location is good, it’s not central though but has many nice restaurants around
The room is nice and clean; it has a unique style especially the room on the roof. The staff are super kind and helpful!

United KingdomTwo of the rooms are on 2nd floor, so lots of walking up and down the stairs (staff helps with the suitcases, but still) Quite noisy from the street (but I guess it is quite common in CDMX) Breakfast includes only cold dishes (fruits, yogurt, granola, pastry) - it is tasty but provides no variety Quite dirty floor on the terrace - it's hard to maintain it clean, but still, quite uncomfortable if you want to lay on the bed afterwards
One if the best hotels I stayed in Great interior, very room The most helpful staff Tasty breakfast Fluffy towels in the bathroom Fridge full of water and coke :)

United KingdomAll of the above.
We arrived at the hotel which was fully under construction. I wish this was communicated or reflected in the price . There are no communal areas , no reception , no breakfast room or library . Everything is under construction. Hot water didn’t work and had to be fixed both morning and evenings . We were pretty much confined in our room which was on a second treacherous floor without an elevator . Upon arrival we were informed that our room was swapped , we were given a different room from what we booked - not OK La Valise . It was similar but not what we paid for . Additionally the staff told us our tea, fruit and yoghurt will be brought in the room ( not a 5 star hotel breakfast ) but then forgot about our breakfast and early check out . All in all , if we were told from the outset that this hotel was being renovated and had limited amenities or if the nuisance was reflected in the price we would have decided whether to stay there or not . Probably not but we would have at least had a choice . While the freshly painted room had a very heavy paint smell which made us extra uncomfortable was nice , it was half the size of the one we booked . At the time of writing this La Valise is definitely not a 5 star hotel and the room is definitely not worth £495 pounds , it’s more of an Airbnb experience in a nice house .

United StatesThe price of the hotel is double the amount of other reputable brands (eg W Mexico City). For the price I expected a better breakfast and more small touches. For example, there weren't any q-tips, shower caps, or wash clothes in the bathroom. When I asked, all were promptly provided except the wash cloths. So essentially, you have to just wash your body with your hands which is odd. I did ask for something & they provided a body scrubber, however it was so rough I couldn't use it. Bath tubs are great but they should provide bath bubbles along with the bath salts. Also, the robes weren't nice spa robes (waffle knit, not soft & not one size). There weren't slippers provided but given when asked. However, the slippers were very cheap quality...they weren't even the standard quality you find at hotel or even ones you purchase on Amazon. I stayed in La Terrazza and La Luna. Terrazza wasn't as big as the pictures make it seem, selling point is only pushing bed outside, bathroom wasnt that great. Luna felt larger, better room layout, better bathroom. As someone who loves staying in boutique hotels and am okay spending more for luxe accommodations, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of touches this place offers for the price paid. Spending $500+ per nite in CDMX I expected luxe luxe. I'm not sure if their pricing is based more on square footage of the rooms but I'd rather spend half to stay at other luxe accommodations in the city.
The breakfast was okay. It was outsourced, pastries were just okay, coffee could've been better. Yogurt & fruit were great. Presentation was lovely. For the price paid, expected a hot breakfast. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable. Location was great!
