Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot a dislike but be aware that a couple staff members only spoke Spanish, so we had to use Google translate, but it was easy to communicate still. Our shower may have had a leak and there was water on the floor into the main room, but we're not certain where the water came from/how it happened. We wish there were towel racks/hooks in the bathroom. The lock to our room was a little tricky, you had to push up at the right angle, but it wasn't the end of the world.
We were pleasantly surprised by how amazing this stay was! BEAUTIFUL view, great value for your money, and super convenient location by a 24/7 Oxxo and near bus stops. The entire property felt so private and intimate. There's a DELICIOUS restaurant downstairs (a little pricey, but we think the food was worth it). The staff are all SO friendly. They helped us call taxis and gave us activity recommendations. Keep in mind this location is farther from the airport and Zona Romantica, but it was a perfect central location for where we had to go for our friend's wedding festivities. We mainly took the bus to main cities/tourist spots, and took taxis/Ubers to the airport or when we short on time. We would definitely come back and stay at the Traditional Sierra Leone and absolutely recommend it to anyone!!

CanadaIf you want to just relax and listen and watch the ocean, this is the spot. The sunsets are spectacular. Oxxo is a two minute walk and so is the bus. The hosts are wonderful and things move at a relaxing pace. Wonderful place to just relax.

United StatesThe trucks driving by at night were sometimes distracting but most of the time the ocean drowned out the noise. The stairs to the 3rd floor, but that's only because I am scared of heights.
Room had everything we needed. Staff was excellent and very helpful with any questions/concerns. Restaurant was amazing. View was amazing, we got to see rays, turtles, whales all from our balcony.

United StatesWhat a wonderful place to stay!! Everything exceeded our expectations! Lucy greeted us and she was very kind! The entire hotel looked out to the sea with a large sitting area/restaurant right in the water. The room she gave us was amazing! She upgraded us to a king room with an extra bed on the top floor with a balcony and a kitchen! The sliding doors and windows looked out over 180 degrees! The balcony was spacious and comfortable. The hotel was in a great location near Mismaloyes beach. Such a great value! The hotel was a classic hotel with Brick and tile roof and wood furniture.

Everything! The room was large, clean and comfortable, with views of the ocean. I have never felt as relaxed as I did here. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and helpful. The local bus stops just outside and is reliable and frequent - it’s great!

CanadaThe noise from vehicles on the highway can be quite loud at night, but the sound of the waves is equally loud and we were able to sleep well, tired out from our days exploring the city. The water pressure in the shower could be better. It would be nice if there were some hooks on the bathroom/bedroom walls to hang up towels/clothes.
A lovely hotel about 30 minutes from the main city. We took the local bus to and fro everyday without a problem. Our room was huge and included a little kitchen and a private bathroom. Our host, Lucy, was warm and welcoming. There is a restaurant at the hotel and an Oxxo (local 7/11, Circle K) a 5 minute walk away. Our favorite part of the hotel was the stunning ocean view from the patio/balcony. We enjoyed watching birds and dolphins at breakfast and the sunset and a sky full of stars at night.

United KingdomNoise from the road could be a problem for light sleepers, but we slept well as bed was very comfy and we were very tired after long day travelling from UK.
Location is right on the coast. Great for watching the sunrise and sunset over the sea and for looking for wildlife. Nice welcome and farewell from our hosts. Excellent restaurant on site (closed on Mondays). Michael, the chef, made us an amazing dinner including a special vegetarian option for me. Very impressive. Close to Boca de Tomatlan and water taxis to isolated coastal spots like Yelapa.

MexicoPatio chaises and chairs could be upgraded. Surprisingly, the highway noise in back was not bothersome but may be for others. Having said that every hotel, from very expensive to budget has the same highway running along the back, so don't let this comment stop you from spending at least a few nights here.
Location of Mismoloya. Family run hotel, 6 large suites only. Kitchenette has everything we need. Far enough from the hustle of Puerto Vallarta, but easily accessible public bus ride, right outside the hotel grounds. Owners onsite, mature, responsible, kind. Oceanside dining, right next door, El Caracol. When on terrace all you hear are ocean waves and bird song. Pacific sunsets some of the I've seen in 40 years of travel from every suite and the restaurant. Well shaded, cool breezes.

United StatesThere isn't much to complain about, just a few minor things... the bathroom did have an odor, but I noticed that with other hotels in Puerto Vallarta as well, so I think it's an issue with the sewage system overall. There is hot water but the handles are backwards so at first I thought there was no hot water. The wifi but sometimes be very slow and reception not good in the rooms. Other than these minor things which didn't really bother me, everything was fantastic!
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights total, 2 nights in a room on the 2nd floor with no kitchenette, and 2 nights in room #5 on the 3rd floor with a small kitchenette. Both views from the balcony were breathtaking, but of course the higher room had a better view. I could spot manta rays, turtles, and dolphins from my balcony. It faces west so the sun doesn't hit the balcony until about 4pm (I stayed in March). I caught an Uber here from the Malecon, but once I was here, my Uber didn't work so would need to call a taxi or take the bus to explore the next towns. The area is quite secluded. There is a restaurant called Caracol attached to the hotel with delicious food, but they are not always open, sometimes it closed early and also closed the Monday/Tuesday I was there. There is an OXXO convience store up the road, but the food selection there is very limited and you have to walk along the highway to get there, which was a bit dangerous. I liked that the hotel provided a jug of water in the room and the room with the kitchenette had kitchenware to cook with. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back! The views are absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are so relaxing.

United KingdomFabulous little hotel! We had a massive room with a balcony facing the sea where we watched pelicans and dolphins go by. The restaurant is absolutely delicious - great breakfasts and a wonderful 3 course Valentine's dinner. We also watched the whales one morning going by while we were having breakfast. It is out of town, so nice and quiet but the bus is very easy to catch for a ride to one of the small villages or into PV. Will looking at getting a car next time to visit even more of the villages. Thank you so much to all the staff - everyone was very accommodating and helpful!!
