Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States*needs hand rail at pool steps, steps going up to room and in showers. *we were not aware that we would be assigned a room on the third floor. The stairs in the extreme heat made us not want to come and go as much as we would have liked. More consideration for elderly guests’ needs. *young man working in pool bar plays annoyingly loud video games while guests are lounging in pool area. Some background music in pool area would be more guest friendly.
*central location made plazas, parks, and markets walkable *very friendly staff *delicious breakfasts with a variety of choices *nice pool area *great housekeeping service

The room ( Flor de Maya) was wonderful: located on the ground floor having two big beds, separate patio near the pool, fridge. The host and staff were very helpful, and the hotel location was perfect. Breakfast was the best during our three week journey in Mexico. Very nice place for visiting Merida.

United StatesThe hotel is in the hart of every thing. That is good. There is a lot of construction going on neer by witch made it hard to get to the hotel. This is not the hotels falt but I would recommend a taxi.
The hotel is very special. The rooms are very large. The property is maintained very well. The hotel it self is different in that the furniture is old and in fantastic shape. There was a fountain in the center and the interior is very colorful and in fantastic shape.

United StatesNoise. Sound carries in those beautiful high ceilings. First two days were quiet. Unfortunately, a large party of 15 or so in 3-4 rooms checked in. They had no regard for how loud they were right outside our window and at the pool. I would suggest owners include in the information packet a reminder that sound really carries in the hallways and pool area.
The architecture is amazing 12-16 ft ceilings. Gardens are lovely. Pool and bar made for great late afternoon cooling off. Staff were really helpful. Breakfast was great. Great information packet

United StatesFirst impression hotel and area around it looked a little tired. But quickly realized that added to the charm as real authentic. Room and terrace were very comfortable.
Great location for exploring restaurants on Calle 47 and sights around Plaza Grande. Serves large breakfast. Used pool area in mid-afternoon to swim and read when it was very hot outside. Friendly staff.

United StatesThe standard rooms on the ground floor don't have outside windows and open onto the interior walkway to the pool so they're a little gloomy and there's a bit of noise, but not too bad. I'd recommend spending the extra to have an upstairs room, if available, for a little better experience.
A nice property with interesting historical character in a great location just off the Parque St. Lucia, a nice and safe neighborhood close to many shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. Easy walking distance to the central square and to the Paseo Montejo. Secure parking available just around the corner from the hotel. Service was really excellent; the staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. Best breakfasts of our whole time in Mexico with a number of choices off of a menu - restaurant-quality food and very professional service. Very nice pool area with plenty of places to sit and relax and a small bar with very reasonably priced drinks that's open during the day. Would stay here again.

CanadaHotel was great... no issues.
Location, location, location! Reception staff, restaurant staff and owners were all wonderful... they are the reason we return to Mexico year after year. Our room was large, clean, well appointed and usually quite (a band playing illegally nearby was a bit noisy one night but by 10pm it was closed down). Staff really helped with directions and suggestions for restaurants, etc. One of the better breakfasts we have been offered, with plenty of refills on the coffee. Pool was clean and refreshing after a long day touring. Juste loved the location... close to main square and accessible to the ADO Bus terminal. Just wonderful.

IcelandThe only thing I can possibly think of, which is not an actual negative thing, is that we realized pretty late that there are some great additional seating areas / tables for all guests above the pool bar. We thought those were part of private rooms until we had to move rooms after extending our stay and saw these better from our terrace.
Exceptional service. Staff made us feel like we were family. Booked great value day trips on zero notice to see cenotes/ruins/chocolate museum&ecopark. Pool and bar relaxation area are fabulous, as is the location and being right next to all the restaurants @ St Lucía. We also loved the breakfast and spacious rooms.
