Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWell, WE DID go on Easter/Spring Break and because the beach is shallow at the North End, It was VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY. ( lots of kids ) Also, I don't know if ALL of the rooms have the option of an "adjoining room" for families, but we stayed in #16 and could hear the neighbor's voices all too well. Not a deal breaker, just something to take note of.
Great location On the North Beach. I enjoyed the heavily landscaped "jungle" the hotel is tucked away in which made it very quiet considering the proximity of the road! A quick minute walk THROUGH Oceans Beach Club to the playa which went out very far at knee to waist high water, crystal clear blue! The " Breakfast Included" menu was limited to Na Balam guests but it was soooooo well prepared, that we never minded a bit! Actually some of the best "free" breakfasts I have had in Mexico. An added perc was the yoga classes that we thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend Na Balam.

United KingdomThe room was fine but could do with a bit of updating, like new bathroom, especially for the price, but this is minor and not something to stop you staying here.
The location is amazing, it’s right near the best beach but still retains a lovely quiet oasis of peace, a really good choice on what is a v loud/busy island! The breakfast was great too (provided over the road at casa jaguar - 2 min walk)

SwedenAccess to a coffee machine would have been nice
Really nice pool area; calm and nice with the vegetation around. Nice to have a less busy alternative than the beach (it was quite busy in mid January) Fantastic opportunity to take a good yoga class and the massage I got here was also really good! Quite simple decor in the rooms and they are quite dark, but we liked it anyway. Very friendly and helpful staff guiding us to good places to visit around the island.

United StatesI did get a massage which was nice but not a deep tissue which I had requested.
It’s a small hotel with room nestled around the pool with a Mexican vibe. The breakfast was at their “sister hotel” across the street with a view of the ocean. The yoga offered was outstanding.

AustriaThe room Interieur was basic and the rooms were quite dark.
The location was cool - it felt like a little jungle. There was always someone taking care of the facility. The beach towels and beach beds in perfect location were an amazing add on. The way to the beach was super quick. The cooperation with the neighboring hotel was great- you could enjoy a wonderful breakfast right at the beach terrace. Most restaurants, bars and attractions in walking distance.

IrelandThe pictures advertised on Booking.com are drastically different to the room you receive, which was very disappointing. For example, the rooms are much darker in person, none of the terraces even nearly match the pictures and the furniture and room itself is noticeably tired and in need of refreshing. When I raised the disparity at reception they seemed surprised, which I felt was disingenuous. Honestly, the room was fine if that’s what you were expecting, but I felt hard done by for paying $180 during off season and not receiving anything close to what we anticipated. It’s false advertising. Also, there are no tea/coffee making facilities which you would expect for the high price you pay per night. The double beds are queen size, so quite small.
The location of the property is exceptional. It’s extremely close to the beach, shops, yoga classes and nightlife. Although, be aware if you read a description that says it’s on a beachfront, it’s not. You walk out of the hotel to get to the beach, but it’s less than a five minute walk. The breakfast included is delicious, they provide nice toiletries, it’s clean and the surrounding garden is gorgeous, but be prepared with bug spray.

United StatesThe beds were a bit firm for my mother. The pillows weren't plump enough for me; next time I'll bring my own pillow.
It was the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing beach vacation. The quietness and greenery of the property was exactly what I was looking for in a restorative trip. The hotel room was spacious. The staff was great. We sent our time by the ocean, although the pool looked lovely. The breakfast was a pleasant bonus. I would stay again.

SpainI felt like I was overcharged on extra services (i.e. renting golf cart, airport transfers etc..). Moreover, we didn’t see that the only available breakfast was the american one and even if I didn’t eat and order the eggs & american coffee the hotel made me pay extra money to order something different which connects to the feeling of being overcharged for anything in Mexico.
very nice location and welcoming staff. The receptionists were very helpful and gave us the possibility to store our luggage even after the check out. I particularly enjoyed the mood and the way everything was furnished and of course the great location! literally at 1 min walking to playa norte!

ItalyAlthough I had booked the hotel room 3 months ahead and I am a Booking Genius 2 ranked, I have been provided with perhaps the worst hotel room in a dark corner spot (hence there wasn't enough light inside over the day). As above said, the number of tourists in Isla Mujeres and, in particular, at playa North was really too much.
the hotel pool andthe breakfast. The beach closest to the hotel is amazing, as well as the sea water. However, there were really too many tourists on the beach.

PortugalThe sunbeds area is supposed to be exclusive to the hotel, however, locals and tourists seat down in the shade provided by the palm trees right in there, do huge picnics, leave a mess behind & the staff does nothing. Also, each group plays their own music, so imagine how not relax at all this becomes. This is specially aggressive on saturdays. If the hotel had enforced this exclusivity, I would give a 10 rating. But we were so annoyed sometimes at all the noise that just left the beach.
We enjoyed the hotel very much. Rooms were huge and jacuzzi was nice. Breakfast is served at the hotel right in front, with sea view. Fruits, toasts, eggs, juice and coffee. You have the right to use the hotel’s sunbeds at the beach (though the ones jn front are for paying customers only).
