Smelt slightly fishy when we arrived due to the boats anchored up in front of the property. Not an ideal swimming beach.

The beachfront location is fantastic. We booked the Ocean front studio on the 2nd floor. It had a lovely balcony with a hammock to relax in. The kitchen in the unit was very handy. The room was spacious and very comfortable with loads of storage. Surrounded by loads of restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The hotel was very quiet. A very relaxing stay. Xplor Park was a lot of fun if you like the water and zip lining.

Cleanliness of bathroom ( shower stall, sink, faucets and mirror) and kitchen area need much improvement. The room and bathroom could use new paint. The linens and especially the towels could be better.

The location was excellent and very convenient for shopping and dining. The staff were very accommodating. The AC was great. The room lay out was good.

The mattress was old, the pillows as well, the couch was very beat and uncomfortable.

Loved the private outdoor patio and breakfast service. The staff was friendly and worked hard to see that we were comfortable. Management was very kind and helpful. The room had nice amenities and tastefully decorated.

Towels and Coffee

If you don't wake up early to leave your towel on the chair and reserve it, you will be left without a chair to sit on the beach. The hotel is great, the room is great, cleanliness is great, but the hotel should prohibit guests from reserving chairs with towels. I arrived at the beach early, sat on a chair and stayed there for 3 hours, from 9am to 12pm, and of the 14 chairs available, 10 were left unattended during all those hours, occupied only with reserved towels so that no one could occupy them. This is absurd because people arrived to stay on the beach and couldn't use the chairs because they were reserved. I went out for lunch and came back at 2:30, and again, there were no chairs available, not because they were occupied by people, but by towels (because everyone had probably gone to lunch as well, and left the towels there). Again I spent hours on the beach, and the owners of the towels arrived hours after that, of course after heir had lunch and afternoon naps. And I say this because I simply took any of the chairs that had a towel on them and sat down. And for hours no one showed up. The hotel isn't cheap for guests to experience these types of frustrations, so the hotel should prohibit this kind of thing or have enough chairs for each guest.

We would love to come back and stay here with our kids but felt the pool was not very kid friendly. It was in the shade most of the time, cold and an odd shape. Okay for a dip here and there but not really hanging out.

The location on the beach and easy walking distance to town was perfect. We didn't need to use a taxi the whole time we were there unless we went on an excursion. The staff was lovely and so helpful, we tried all the food recommendations they suggested and they were all amazing.

AC unit didn’t work the first night. It was fixed then kept spitting out ice which melted and made the floors very slippery. The cleaning lady only made the bed she didn’t change the sandy sheets. Toilet wasn’t cleaned at all when we were there for almost a week. Shower was falling apart. Room 107 was loud with staff, arrivals, traffic etc. There was a blaring light outside that we had to ask staff to turn off so we could sleep. Also the beach chairs were reserved with towels by greedy people every morning at the crack of dawn so if you want to take advantage of the beachfront put your towel in a chair before 7am. The place is boutique-ey and cute and worth the stay but don’t stay by office. We paid more this visit than last so I was a tad disappointed but overall I do think the hotel is worth it if you know the right loopholes

We ordered a partial ocean view, no view whatsoever. We were way behind the pool area so not sure how they classify that as ocean view. When asked they said it is what it is as we were on the inside, so we paid for something we didn't get. Room was stuffy from the bathroom and there was some mold in the bathroom shower. There is a stain glass window in every room and a light right outside our stain glass that couldn't be turned off or covered. So we were forced to sleep with a bright unwanted nightlight. There should be a shade for that. Outdated but I do think for the price and location it wasn't horrible. Very small beach and pool was freezing. Free breakfast was a snack at best.

Super close walking distance to everything but even though this is known as a quieter hotel, you will still here Bass from nightclubs until early morning and Bass from the beach in the morning. Dual paned windows helped a long with my noise machine. Light sleeper and I did ok here! Main reason why we booked. Bed was comfortable and loved the full kitchen and huge water jug they provided.

No coffee the second day or 3rd seemed expensive to not receive coffee pods. Bed was hard! Lack of beach.

The style ….rooms and balcony lovely…no real beach like in picture …shame.

The beach directly adjacent to the hotel, while beautiful, is not well suited for just walking out and swimming in it.

The room was fantastic, very comfortable, with a great view of a lovely beach. It is very convenient to downtown Playa del Carmen.
