That it was very close to the beach which was beautiful this time of year. I liked the property because it wasn’t that big and we could move around very easily!

Check in experience was not good as the staff refused to help us take our bags to the room. We had 2 small children sleeping, since we arrived at the hotel at 10 PM, and requested help with the bags. The reception said that there was no available to help and refused to let us use the bags cart. Not what I would expect from a 5 stars hotel .

There are no elevators so be prepared to walk up stairs. Buildings are 3 floors high. Limited toiletries are provided.

Smaller resort. Easy to navigate. Lots of food choices and buffets. Specialty restaurant were good no reservations needed. Was able to try them all in a 6 night stay. Staff was very good. Entertainment was good. Always something to do. Pools and swim up bar were good. Lovely but not too crowded. Beach is also very nice. But there was a lot of seaweed during our visit. Not Riu’s fault.

Though it had three pools, they could easily get filled up with the guests. But the sea was my preference - and that never got full.

Clean. Spacious. 24-hour bar, so I could start the day with coffee as early as 5.30am!

The hotel did not have interesting evening events such as singers or acrobatics as a show.

The hotel has great quality food in all inclusive breakfasts, lunches and amazing dinners. Staff were very friendly and great workers. Very clean.

Music by pool could be a little quieter

We were booked here but when we arrived they bumped us to the Palace - we loved our stay there. We visited the Playacar and it looked very nice too. Some of the features we liked for the Palace are across the board for Riu hotels

Bathroom’s hygiene accessories non existing: no conditioner, no shower cap, low quality shower gel / shampoo: not acceptable for 5 star hotel. Mini bar should be fully refilled everyday

Playacar is a secured location south of Playa Del Carmen (55min from Cancun airport): 25min walking from hotel to Playa Del Carmen animated Quinta Avenida. Easy and safe to park our rental car at the hotel. Beautiful swimming pool and beach area under numerous palm trees. Amazing helpful staff in all departments: rooms, entertainment, restaurants, bars, etc. Entertainment was offered for all ages. Restaurants offered good quality food and variety at all meals. Restaurants never felt crowded, did not have to queue up for any dish, which brought relaxing atmosphere. Large room and bathroom, extra large bed. We extensively used the kids’ swimming pool and activities (Riuland), which was a great hotel’s asset.

The corn chips to eat, salsa and guacamole, with are a little too crunchy and hard. 🤣 That’s about the worst thing I can come up with !

Absolutely everything, room , food , plenty of chairs by pool and beach, even though hotel at 100% capacity. Plenty of shade around pools. The bars are staffed with multiple bartenders. There’s never a long wait to get a drink. Beaches perfectly clean. Even buffet, although some things remain the same as variations every day. There is no reservations required at the restaurants. I walk in right after the open one day I had to wait only for five minutes to get a table table.. and it’s only a half hour walk down the front road to go into town, which I like to do several nights a week. Also, I did check in on a Tuesday but I was the only person in line and I check out on a Sunday and it was no one in line either took one minute in each direction to check in/out

Cleaners kept moving personal belongings but that wasn’t a big issue. I think they were just trying to be helpful.

The location of the hotel and the fact it’s very safe to walk outside the hotel. On top of this the staff, food, room and other hotels you can go to are excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

Awesome! Would absolutely go back! We were pleasantly surprised with this resort. It was a little smaller than we thought which was great! Everything was extremely accessible ! Staff was extremely friendly and always willing to serve. Property was kept extremely clean! Great job to the entire staff. Bonus - white themed party was epic!

Didn't like the annoying merchants on the beach, especially the two guys who tried to sell narcotics and offer prostitutes. Your staff also gave them drinks that were meant for hotel customers! You still have a 5* hotel and people come here to rest with their children.
