Nothing but a suggestion -we would have liked a fridge in the room to keep our water cool even though we could go to the bar and collect a cold bottle, it soon warmed up!

We loved this hotel. The staff were wonderful, the attention to detail, the ambiance, the lovely pool, delicious breakfast. The delicious cocktail and the information to help us settle in were very welcome.

There were only a few minor details we did not like: air-conditioning in the room is not powerful enough for (lovely) the high ceilings, and the bathroom gets very hot; and also our room had two small skylights, and we woke up with the sunrise on the first day - but as I said these were minor details, and we loved the hotel!

Wonderful boutique hotel full of charm; service was amazing, and it felt like a home away from home. Breakfast was also one of the best we had on our trip - would definitely recommend this hotel!

We absolutely loved everything!! Honestly our favourite hotel we have ever stayed in. It’s an oasis in the middle of Merida - so tranquil and serene, with beautiful, spotlessly clean rooms. The service from Sara and Neil and their WONDERFUL team was unreal. And the breakfasts - oh my gosh!! I would recommend this hotel to anybody - it really is perfect, and we will be back for sure (we are even contemplating extending our trip just to stay here again).

A startling discovery! Behind a minimalist facade, was a world far, far apart from the streets of Merida! The perfection of every detail, from fresh greenery, to modern amenities, lush on-site greenery, a perfect size pool with 3 tinkling fountains, immaculate and cared for grounds and structures, every personal comfort that I could want in a hotel was mine. Plus the breakfast! The hotel chef made a completely memorable creation, that I could enjoy beside the garden and pool in a modern, yet timeless, upscale setting. Sara and Neil were the most welcoming hosts, who seemed genuinely interested in me as one of their guests. I will certainly be back and will recommend this hotel as my first suggestion to any friends traveling to Merida! In summary, an uplifting, relaxing, and pampered, first class, stay in all ways!

I have no complaints regarding any aspect of this hotel. We met both owners who were wonderful and charming. They go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is perfect.

Prior to our arrival, we were contacted regarding transportation which they scheduled for us at the airport. From the moment we entered the Hotel, we were met with friendly and helpful staff who made every aspect of our stay perfect. The rooms were well appointed, snacks and drinks were provided (unexpectedly), breakfasts were unbelievably delicious. Plus, the staff was available to help with directions, retaurant recommendations, private drivers - even helping me get into my Indian outfit for a wedding! The hotel is peaceful, the pool beautiful and it was much better than we had hoped for. I can highly recommend this hotel!

The breakfasts were amazing. Chef Karla makes the most delicious and beautiful food!!! Neil and Sara are such wonderful owners. They take the time to make you feel welcome and make sure your stay at the Diplomat is beyond expectations. We especially enjoyed the welcome drink and snacks. The staff is exceptional...Laura made us feel so welcomed at the Diplomat. The rooms are so nicely decorated and the grounds are stunning. It truly is a paradise in Merida.

Everything! The room was amazing and so comfortable. We got a delicious treat in our room at the end of each day and a personalised hand written message each day which was a really lovely touch. Sara and Neil were the most lovely people who we could have talked to for hours! They were so eager to help us with recommendations etc and are so knowledgeable about the area, plus really passionate which is great to see. The breakfast every day is INCREDIBLE, and in such a beautiful, relaxing setting. The hotel is slightly out of the centre of Merida but we didn’t mind this as it meant we were in a very quiet area plus we enjoyed the 10-15mins walk into town or got a super cheap Uber a couple of times. Would definitely recommend The Diplomat to anyone - we extended our stay an extra day as we didn’t want to leave!

Our stay was a wonderful experience. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. The room was decorated with a.banner and balloons. My daughter is celiac. Two homemade gluten-free cupcakes were prepared for us ... candles provided. The host and hostess were so nice and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing. The property is comfortable, cean, and inviting. I do hope to return.

Tranquil and delicious! From the calming color palette of the decor, to the beautiful tiles; from the lovely tranquil pool to the comfortable bed, we loved our stay. Staff and owners were wonderfully helpful but a special recognition to Chef Karla! “Breakfast included” takes on a whole new meaning at the Diplomat. I don’t want to be very specific about the food and drop spoilers, because the presentation and explanation of breakfast each morning was just so fantastic that any guest should get to revel in discovering it as we did. Chef Karla’s skills in baking, preparation, and flavor combinations were out of this world. We were so well taken care of at the Diplomat; it really made our first visit to Merida that much more special. Do not hesitate to book this hotel to explore the city!

Nothing, everything was great. Maybe an additional lounge chair by the pool would be great, but that's a very minor detail.

Absolutely wonderful botique hotel; Facilities (rooms, pool, etc.) are spacious, modern, beautifully decorated and in great shape. The hosts and their staff are fantastic and super helpful; they gave us great recommendations both for Merida as well as the other places we planned on visiting, and were very accomodating when my wife wasn't feeling well (late check out; other food etc.). Delicious and fresh breakfast is another plus. Absolutely recommend!

There was absolutely nothing that stood out to me that the property was missing.

The property was gorgeous - like a secluded oasis in the city. The pool was one of my favorite parts, but the room was lovely as well. The staff and owners are incredibly helpful and kind, with great recommendations for things to do and see, shops, and places to eat - for which they proactively made us reservations. It is comfortable and convenient, a perfect launching off point for exploring, and close enough to the city center that you can stop back in for a quick cocktail and dip in the pool after lunch.

Honestly one of the best hotels I've ever been to - we stayed as part of our honeymoon and Sara and her team (big shout out to Maria and Carla) made sure our stay felt so special, they just got everything right. In terms of a luxurious base to help you explore the amazing city of Merida you couldn't ask for a better spot. Everything was so well considered, from the incredible homemade breakfasts (a culinary highlight of our 2 weeks in Mexico) to the personal recommendations, local knowledge and proactive/super friendly service - we could've stayed for so much longer enjoying the lovely pool and outstanding margaritas when the city heat got too much. The room was delightful, so many thoughtful touches, Sara made a real effort to get to know us during our stay and even booked in an ad hoc manicure for my wife whilst we were there. I hope to revisit Merida would 100% stay at The Diplomat again if we do, highly highly recommend.
