Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was construction noise in the morning and sometimes late into the evening but this is not the hotels fault! Just something to note if you'd like to sleep in :)
The room was very clean and the hotel is kept so tidy! Indoors and out doors.

United KingdomIf we were being very very picky, we would say that it would be amazing if the hotel had some sort of food and drink offering however they were great with allowing us to buy food and drink from the supermarket 30 seconds away and consuming around the pool.
Best location ever for people who want to be in the thick of it. Lovely amazing staff that were so kind, friendly and welcoming! The pool was brilliant and a real stand out for us. The rooms were clean and we just can’t really fault anything.

United StatesI have no bad reviews for this hotel. Loved it
The hotel was clean and the decor was modern and chic. The location was perfect. Steps from the beach in one direction and steps to centro in the other. There’s an also a great coffee shop right next door to visit before walking to the beach every day. The pool was fabulous. The bed was comfy and the towels were super soft. The staff was incredible, friendly and helpful. They anticipated all of my needs. Even surprised me with a cute bday card signed by all staff of the hotel. Such a delight. Absolutely loved this hotel and would definitely return.

United KingdomThe noise from near by bars etc- the hotel is in a great location for being close to all the bars, restaurants, shops, beach etc. So if that’s what you’re after it’s great. However, it is very loud at night time. The music in surrounding bars has to stop at midnight. One night it definitely went on until 2/3am but I think this was due to it being carnival. Generally it stopped at midnight. We were told by the hotel that it’s only loud at the weekends, but it was loud every night. Luckily I had ear plugs which worked so I slept fine. But if you’re a light sleeper it’s good to be aware of this. My partner was fine as he sleeps though anything. During the day on the terrace it’s very peaceful and quiet. Unfortunately when we were there the whole island flooded due to a very bad storm. Of course this is not the fault of the hotel, however the road directly outside the hotel was full of dirty water from when we arrived to when we left. Clearly a drainage issue. The smell was not nice. The staff members from the hotel were working to try and resolve and attempts were being made to pump the roads, but it seems to be a much bigger issue here with flooding. Many roads in the surrounding area were the same. Quite unsightly in places. Although when you step into the hotel itself it’s a lovely calm oasis and you can’t see the water from inside. So it didn’t bother us when we were in the hotel. Transfers and payments- we ended up paying a lot more due to online payment fees. So watch out for this. On our arrival day we paid for a private transfer from Cancun airport which was hassle free and well organised by the hotel - albeit expensive. On our return journey we wanted to consider group transfer as this is much cheaper. The hotel advised they could only organise a private transfer (with an external agency) and not the group one (despite the external agencies offering this). And Despite a sign in their reception saying about group transfers.
Our room was absolutely beautiful. We booked the largest room with the terrace. We couldn’t fault it- the terrace was large with beautiful outdoor furniture, hammock, day bed, outdoor shower and sink. It had a lovely outside / in feel and we were very grateful for this space when the weather turned bad. The room was cleaned every morning to a very high standard. Very comfortable large bed. Beautiful bathroom and the decor overall was stunning. The lobby area is also beautiful, lovely decor. Staff cleaning the communal areas regularly and kept it spotless. Friendly staff.

New ZealandHolbox infrastructure and drainage system on the island meant that the road outside the hotel was under water for most of our stay. Bars up the road seem to have no limits on noise levels until late at night, making it difficult to sleep with blearing music til midnight or later. Would be great to have a fridge in the room.
Gorgeous, boutique hotel. Beautifully kept grounds, rooms, lovely laid- back relaxing atmosphere with very helpful, friendly staff. Good proximity to shop shops, restaurants and beach. Stylish, authentic Mexican design and decor, we loved Tierra del Mar.

EstoniaLiked all (maybe there could be ice cooler in the room and minibar). What was not hotel fault is nature. Mosquitoes and fully flooded sand roads (nothing to do with expensive golfcar- just use taxi)!
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Tierra del Mar in Holbox Island, and it was truly a delightful experience. This charming hotel, with its boho-style decor, provided the perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the unique and artistic ambiance of the hotel. The attention to detail in the design, from the rustic furniture to the vibrant colors, created a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It truly felt like a hidden gem tucked away in paradise. The rooms at Tierra del Mar were comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The boho-chic style added a touch of elegance while still maintaining a laid-back vibe. I particularly loved the attention given to the little details, such as the handmade decorations and local artwork adorning the walls. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any request or question. Their warm hospitality made me feel right at home throughout my stay. They were also very knowledgeable about the island, providing excellent recommendations for restaurants, activities, and nearby attractions. Tierra del Mar is conveniently located just a short walk away from the beach, allowing easy access to the beach. The hotel also provided beach towels and beds near the pool (free), making it even more convenient for guests to enjoy a day by the sea or pool. Overall, my experience at Tierra del Mar was exceptional. The combination of the boho-style decor, friendly staff, and convenient location made it the perfect choice for a memorable vacation. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable stay in Holbox Island. What was not hotel fault is nature. Mosquitoes and fully flooded sand roads (nothing to do with expensive golfcar- just use taxi)!

NetherlandsDaily cleaning of the room took very long -- Yes, that's a compliment. After 5 days, the breakfast was a bit boring (when I wrote this, I thought, what is wrong with me? Breakfast is served at the beach with a stunning view at the sea. Ok, I mean, the food was the same every day).
Although Isla Holbox itself was a bit disappointing for us, this hotel absolutely made up for that. Located in the centre of Holbox, close to the beach, this hotel was perfect for us. In other reviews you will find complaints about the noise, coming from bars in the neighbourhood. We noticed some music, now and then, but never very late and it never bothered us. Staff is very friendly and they do their best to make you feel welcome. Cleaning is done very thoroughly, never seen that before. We were so happy to have booked this hotel and not one a bit away from the "noisy" town centre. Roads in Isla Holbox are terrible and always full with huge water puddles, so the only type of transportation is an expensive 4x4 taxi.

United KingdomThere was unfortunately a lot of building work taking place during our stay. There is a huge construction site a few metres opposite the hotel which had non stop drilling and banging from morning until evening which made lying by the pool not relaxing at all. The hotel also had workers on site to within the hotel building a fence and so there was additional noise from that - one evening I had to message the hotel to ask when they were finishing the work as it was past 6pm and it was incredibly loud in our room. Considering this and also that there was no breakfast included / no option to purchase drinks or food in the hotel, I think our stay was overpriced
Absolutely stunning room - spotlessly clean and huge bed. Nice big balcony and felt private. Pool area was a bonus and great location a few minutes walk from the beach and all restaurants / bars / shops.

My sister and I loved every part of our stay - we would highly recommend staying at Tierra Del Mar. The hotel is stylish and immaculately clean. The team who work there (including the owner) are very helpful and welcoming. Location wise, you are close to everything you need… an easy 5min taxi from the port, right around the corner from the main area with all the restaurants/bars and literally 1 minute from the beach where you can sit and have your breakfast in a beautiful setting.

United KingdomThere was a lot of noise due to some construction next door (from 8am) and then a bar nearby pumping out music (between 5pm and midnight). Had to use earplugs.
Room was small but very comfortable with a good bed. Shower and bathroom facilities were good and also had a nice balcony with a hammock that overlooked the courtyard. Was a short walk into town and to the beach. The pool looked good but we didnt use it as we prefer the beach.
