Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainXpujil is a dreadful place - especially with the construction of the aqueduct, the road,, the Tren Maya and the 5* hotel in the jungle 10km from the ruins. Hundreds of trucks are continually going into and out of town so the noise and pollution is appalling.
The room was very large and the bathroom had hot water. The staff or the girl at reception wasn't very informative/helpful but I think she may have been new. When I asked about a colectivo to Calakmul she called the owner lady who came over and gave me a number to call. When I called the guy who said he was from Ruta Calakmul, he was very helpful and arranged for the Colectivo to come and collect the following day at 7am.

AustraliaSheets weren't quite big enough for the bed.
Small family run business, is very well located and quiet, off the main road, which was very dusty and very noisy with all the construction work associated with Tren Maya. It was 10 min walk from the bus station and 10 min walk to the Xpujil Mayan site. The room was clean and basic, with a very comfortable bed. Great shower, hot water, high pressure. We could pre-order breakfasts to have in our room or lunchboxes for the next day. We tried a breakfast and it was good.

NetherlandsThere was a sewage smell in the bathroom in the morning. No breakfast, but there are a number of restaurants along the (muddy) main road where you can have breakfast for a very reasonable price.
Villa Calakmul is a simple/basic hotel with 8 clean rooms, spread over the ground floor and the first floor. We stayed in room 6 on the first floor. A large room with air conditioning and two excellent beds. We slept well there. Very good (clean) quality for what you pay. The good thing about this small hotel is that the 'back' of the hotel is to the main road. In contrast to other (mainly to be avoided) hotels that are located on the main road, this hotel was hardly affected by the traffic(noise) and the work on the (broken up) main road that runs through the town and especially the flow of trucks working on the construction of the Mayan Railway. We have the impression that it will take a few months before the noise along the main road and the mud in the town disappears. The hotel is a good location for visiting Calakmul. However, expect that it will take about an hour by car before you reach the side road that goes to Calakmul. Then it took about 2 hours (60 km) on a very potholed and under construction road with a speed limit of 30 km to reach the ruins. We were there at 9:40 am, well in time because entrance tickets are only sold until 11:30 am.

United KingdomOur room was basic but clean & comfortable. Appreciated having the rooftop terrace for breakfast & chilling out in the afternoons. A convenient place to stay for visiting the Rio Bec sites. However Xpujil has become a very dusty truckers town due to the construction of the Maya train. Accidently walked into two brothels but quickly walked back out again! We did find two reasonably good places to eat.

Czech RepublicIt's a great hotel for the Calakmul trip, but probably not the best place for a long, relaxed stay.
Big room, guessing 25m2. Climatization works. Reasonable location. Parking inside. Flexible checkin and checkout.

SloveniaWhile I believe there was a good value for the price, it's a pity that the room's amenities were so basic. Neon lights on the ceiling and no decorations make it feel somewhat clinical. Simply adding a small bedside lamp and some decoration could make guests feel much more comfortable.
The room was clean, and the staff was friendly. The location was conveniently close to the center, allowing us to easily walk to shops and restaurants. We also felt safe during our stay. There was a refrigerator in the reception area that we could use, and they kindly warmed up water for me when I asked.

Nice hotel, 10 minutes on foot from the Xpujil ADO bus station. Big clean room, possibility to park the car inside the hotel property. Even if my bus reached Xpujil late in the evening and I arrived at the hotel well after the end of check in time (22h45), the tenant stayed awake for letting me in. Thank you:) If you stay at the hotel to visit the Calakmul ruins the next morning, I recommend to arrive at the hotel earlier than I did and to ask the lady from the reception about the transport ways to reach Calakmul. The situation there changes all the time and the locals can give you the best advices.

HungaryI know it's supposed to be a simple room, but i was missing a little lamp from the night stand for some ambient light and easy access from the bed. The ceiling lamps had a very cold bright light, that created a bad atmosphere.
Quiet surroundings, reception was available and responsive all the time, room was very clean. Mosquito nets on windows. Bed was very comfortable (i like hard matrasses.) 10 minute walk from bus station on road with public lights.

GermanyWe had a little bit of mold in our room, but it was not too bad. We talked to some others and there room was without mold, so just ask for another room in case you have the same problem. Everything else was okay.
The hotel is having a very good price-value share. The room was clean and we had everything we needed. Parking spots were available in front of the hotel. Staff was very friendly.

PolandThis place really is a nice surprise. Great place before or after visiting Calakmul in the jungle (2-2,5 hours by car to jungle). We spend one night before visiting Calakmul and the service was really nice, we could leave our backpacks in the reception during visiting Calakmul. We bought breakfast (there are three options) which was served above the apartment, on the terrace with roof, where we can hear loud singing of birds and feel the jungle. First day there was young men in the reception with really good English, the next day we met ladies with only Spanish, but also nice, when we used translator. The rooms are tidy and quite big, beds too and very comfortable. Air condition works good. Expectations weren't high, but I can totally recommend this place for one or two night.
