They not only lack of room service but not even any possibility to get a soft drink or a beer.

While the cleaning service was timely and my bed was made each time I went out, my towels and water glasses were never replaced in the four days I stayed at the hotel.

This is a beautiful property near the center of Merida, about a 10 minute walk to the main square. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night. The pool is refreshing after a hot day exploring and the staff are wonderful. Breakfast each morning was delicious.

    Nothing worth noting.

We loved the central location. It was walking distance to the main square and many other sights. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Our room was right next to the pool and we had everything we needed to be comfortable. The breakfasts were very good and we enjoyed the opportunity to visit with other guests. It is a small hotel which is nice. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to anyone planning to visit beautiful Merida.

It is a beautifully designed boutique hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms were large enough for two people. The staff, including Roberto and Barbara went above and beyond to help us with car rentals etc. The hotel was close to restaurants and the central area.

Although Merida is a safe place, there is no private parking.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were lovely and helpful Breakfast was served on a big table in old fashioned china. The room itself was spacious with a king-size bed and high ceilings.

    Nothing!

It is a lovely tranquil retreat in bustling Merida. The property leans into the colonial style with antiques as decor and china dishes used to service breakfast. The pool is nice and the bed super comfy. The location is quiet but a mere 10 minute walk to the city square. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend!

We have no specific dislike but if I was still working as an international travel advisor, I’d make the following suggestions: 1. Better sized and higher quality sheets. The mattress was excellent - a real investment - but the synthetic mix sheets did not stay in place as the sides were not deep enough to enclose the mattress efficiently. Also, now conscious of ecological needs, no-one expects a change of sheets and towels daily but four days in the same is perhaps a bit too ecological for us. 2. International guests who can afford a few nights at an hotel with these tariffs, today expect higher quality ingredients for their breakfasts. And with a good freezer and refrigerator, they are easy to provide. Young travellers are often very aware of latest health trends and prefer to give, for instance, processed sliced bread a wide berth. Mexico produces good bread, use it. So too cartons of ‘fresh’ juice. Why not prepare a different jug of fresh local fruit juice each day? This hotel rarely hosts a guest for a single night so In seven days, the breakfasts should never repeat - and perhaps some bread and honey/jam/marmalade should be also available for those less adventurous guests who might prefer this to scrambled eggs, chilaquiles or enfrijoladas.

A beautifully remodelled town house, with contemporary upmarket finishes, Villa Orquídea was a good choice for a repeat visit to this city. It’s not right in the historic heart of Merida but we were almost never more than seven blocks from where we were going by foot, be it recommended restaurants of sights. Further afield, taxis were easy to book. We found Villa Orquídea peaceful and restful and were the weather a little hotter, we’d have enjoyed using the small but pretty pool. We did pass time on the pool chairs and at a nearby table. The hotel has a small fridge there where guests can stock their cool drinks or beers. The bathroom was well lit and well equipped, and our king sized bed, extremely comfortable. Ample space for clothes and roller suitcases. Good lighting too - including a neat multi-intensity light either side of the bed. Yucatan high ceilings mean less heat and we used neither fan nor air conditioning. A Nespresso machine and tea options were available 24-hours in the dining room. Breakfasts were served at a long polished wooden table giving one the opportunity to chat with other travellers - and offered slightly different main items each day. The young staff were friendly and charming, and willing to advise and assist when asked. Interestingly, the road outside has a fair amount of space to park cars should guests be driving in the city.

Only noticed the filter running on the pool a few times.

Everyone was very nice, the rooms were very comfortable, especially the bed. The bathrooms were very clean. Unfortunately our schedule did not allow us to try breakfast. The pool being open all hours was great. Easy to enter and exit facilities. Within walking distance to most places.

We love our stay at Villa Orquidea. The breakfast is different every day (huevos con chorizo was the best breakfast during our stay :) ). The communal breakfast area is nice, you can meet some people there! The place was clean and the room was big. We highly recommend this place.
