Confusion on not having a reservation from booking.com. it was quickly corrected but created unnecessary stress for us to prove that we actually had a reservation. Next time we will book directly with hotel.

The huevos rancheros were very good. I think this place is clearly the best in San Carlos. It was an oasis of order in the midst of chaos.

Great place for trip with Mag Bay Whales/fishing/marlins
    • Leisure trip

rooms are dark (few windows), weak shower pressure, and useless TV. Location was okay for us as we had our own car, but could be more challenging for those without their own transportation if you want to go anywhere.

location is great for water activities with Mag Bay Whales for sport fishing, whale watching, or marlin safaris, but otherwise on the edge of town. We stayed here as we had booked a marlin snorkeling safari which was amazing. The room has AC, comfy bed and a hot (low water pressure) shower. It's clean and covers the basics. The attached restaurant has good, but expensive food.

Villas Don Pepe Jr. is where we stayed in place of Hotel Isabela.

Had to move to another hotel without prior notice, but the Villas Don Pepe turned out great and we were still able to get complimentary breakfast at Hotel Isabela.

When we arrived at Hotel Isabela we were told that the water was out so our accommodations would be at the Villas Don Pepe Jr. down the street. Don Pepe turned out to be great, large room with air conditioning, separate kitchen and dining area with fridge, microwave and coffee pot. The grounds were neat, clean and secure, and the owners, Pepe and Yolanda were very welcoming and attentive.

Breakfast was delicious. We stayed at this hotel in order to go whale watching. Had a good nights sleep, and a wonderful breakfast before our tour. Hotel transported us to the location and picked up back up. Even allowed a late checkout. Thank you Hotel Isabele.

    Nothing...

The staff was so friendly and accomodating! I had to leave early and they had burritos ready for me and coffee (included in the price). The food was great- real authentic Mexican food at a great value. The room was super clean. I loved how close it was the port to head off to see the Marlins and sardine run!

Buyer Beware! A Very Disappointing Experience at Hotel Isabela!
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • King Room
    • Stayed 1 night

After driving 5 hours to arrive at this hotel at dusk, the owner told us that the room we had reserved one week earlier (and Booking.com had confirmed was reserved and available), was in fact unavailable to us!

Breakfast was advertised as being included with our room: however, after the owner informed us that the room we had reserved (and they had confirmed) was no longer available, we had to haggle with her to ensure we received breakfast despite our having to stay at another subpar "sister" establishment located several blocks away. We've never had this happen when using booking.com before. Very disappointing!

    Replace that worn-out sign!

I didn't expect much in a remote fishing village and when we pulled up to the worn-out sign I felt that my suspicions were confirmed that this accommodation would be really basic. (NOTE TO OWNER -- REPLACE THE SIGN!) When we went in I was blown away that the premises were almost posh. Marble / tile / fluffy towels / fun decor / etc./ etc.. Excellent food in restaurant and they asked when we wanted to be served our (free) breakfasts -- even though they had to start early to serve us at 6 a.m.. Nice staff and very secure parking while we were away for a camping excursion on the bay. (They're associated with Magdalena Bay Whales operation, which I also highly recommend.) We had a few items that we wanted to keep cold for our return and they happily refrigerated them for us.

    Too expensive for 69, USD

The place was really run down for the amount that we paid. The room had a king and single bed and too much big furniture for the space. the bathroom needs a real update and reno. I am Canadian . I did not like that the menu was in USD which was actually higher than the official rate. When in Mexico I would appreciate paying in Pesos.

the location was ok I guess . It is a small town so you can not be too far away from anything,

Not much to do in the remote village. Whale watching in the bay only from mid January till Mid April.

The restaurant has a great lady cook. The best camarones we had in Baja. Chevice of chocolates, the huge and delicious clams harvested in the beach in front, are worth the trip.
