Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Puerto RicoI don't have anything negative to say.
The Xcaret Mexico Hotel is spectacular. The rooms, the staff service, the restaurants, the parks, the transportation, the amenities, the shows, in short, everything is wonderful. Exceeded my expectations.

United StatesWhen you arrive and leave they hit you up with upgrading to a VIP status and waste most of your time trying to pitch it to you with a tour that takes up hours of your short time there! WE didn't fall for it this time due to past experiences so please don't do it unless you have extra thousands to spend. Just say no thank you ( 400 times ) and explore yourself.
The place is amazing, you really never have to leave the property for any water relaxation. If you do then the transportation is top notch. It is absolutely amazing. You have to see it for yourself.

AustraliaI didn't like that we only had 5 nights in this paradise. Next time we need to double that!!
Where do I start? Nothing short of mind blowing! The 5 star service with staff that are there to help you at every turn! ! The fabulous restaurants and bars that cater for every taste and desire! The well laid out rooms which have obviously been meticulously planned to make your visit so comfortable and seamless! The spotless grounds and gardens! The well-orchestrated transport provided to and from each of the theme parks! I will be shouting the praises of this property to anyone and everyone who’ll listen and we will definitely return.

GermanyThe rooms are not sound proof, it can get annoying at night. The portions at the restaurants were too big imo. Elevators were sometimes a bit messy.
The room and the facilities are gorgeous. Food quality is superb (the vegan restaurant was our fave). Staff were super friendly and always very helpful. So many amenities and goodies to take home.

BelgiumVery chaotic and slow check-in and check-out, with long queues while staff tries to sell you additional deals. Very badly organized. Good food options. not great. Nights are noisy, hearing everything from the corridors around our room. They gave us 3 'reports', calling us to say we cannot hang some clothes to dry on the terrace and we cannot have our kids play in the pool alone (while we were watching all the time). Felt a bit too much and being watched.
Very nice facilities, beach, pools. Kids friendly and amazing scenery with the cenotes. We really liked the variety of facilities and options. Helpful and friendly staff.

BrazilWe asked for room service and were told the time to get a meal prepared was 2 hours! We slept hungry. Also they told me I didn’t pay for the stay and I had to prove I did, then they said they were sorry. Also there is lack of information, no one told us we had to reserve some restaurants and transportation. Also our bracelet was not working and when I went back to the reception they asked us to get on this huge line where people were checking in. There is no pool with warm water and it’s not very friendly for a 3 year old toddler as he couldn’t use the kids facilities. Only 4 years old and up. There was only an octopus pool available and a game room that was not friendly for his age. Also the shower was low pressure.
It is enourmous with plenty of pools and beautiful. Many restaurants.

United StatesThere are some major flaws, starting with the customer service representative who emailed me a VERY nasty email 30 days out telling me my credit card could not be processed and the reservation would be cancelled and that “accounting will not run a card twice.” Of course I freaked out because we had this trip booked for months and it’s new years holiday and we paid already like $4000 for flights for my whole family. I called Amex and the hotel never actually tried to run the card. I guess this is some automated email? I don’t know, but their system of sending a payment link 30 days out and having some agent robotically tell me over and over my reservation would be cancelled within 24 hours was horrible to say the least. Thankfully I was able to resolve this but the stress it caused me is beyond words due to the countless incomprehensible emails and back and forth with a representative who does not speak good English. Second, the food was not very good. We managed to get by but with difficulty. My daughter is 12 and she survived on the spaghetti for 4 days. Third, the property is not actually on the beach. There is a tiny man made “beach” area but the chairs by pool and the manmade beach are very limited, especially during busy holiday time. Be prepared to get up early and claim a chair! Fourth, the walls are paper thin. At night you hear every door slam and chair drag across the floor and voice in the hallway. We were lucky that our garden suite was further away from main areas, but I have NO idea how people survive the trip with a room that walks out to lobby or pool. It’s quite noisy with all the kids and families. If you’re looking for a romantic couples getaway, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. It’s perfect for families and travelers with kids. If it wasn’t to take my daughter for winter break, I would definitely not come back. It’s quite expensive for what you get.
The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The garden suite was spacious and perfect for our family of 3. Housekeeping came to turn down the room several times a day which we were happy about. Mini bar was stocked with drinks (though they never refilled them) and there were some snacks in the room (also never replenished). The primary selling point of this place is how kid friendly it is. There is an abundance of stuff to do for kids, all the parks are included in the price. We visited the Xcaret park and xplore, which my husband and daughter loved. Transport was a breeze, the shuttles run every 15-20 mins from the hotel. The parks are superb when the weather isn’t ideal for lounging by the pools/“beach”. I read a lot of scary reviews about staff accosting you with sales pitches and being nasty but thankfully we didn’t experience this. I actually thought the staff was pretty friendly and helpful. I did notice many sales people “treating” families to breakfast or whatever (which I’m not sure why since all food is included) but I surmise it’s a pitch to someone not staying at the hotel? Concierge does get a little “salesy” at times but nothing too terrible. They would ask us if we plan on returning, in an attempt to sell the loyalty program, we politely declined and that was the end of it. Concierge was always helpful and answered all our questions. I also read some really bad reviews from others about the check in process but again, we found it pretty easy. We arrived after a long flight, were greeted with smiles and a helpful bellhop and breezed through check in. They even let us check into our room early even though check in isn’t until 3. Restaurants were always busy but we never had to wait more than 20 mins or so. Each restaurant has very pretty decor and ambience but I was not a fan of the food at all. This was a total let down since I have been to Tulum and food there is sensational. All the buffets hot foods were always cold.

Costa RicaTheir reservations system was down when we arrived and it took a while to check in. We went there with our 3 year old and many activities were restricted for older kids with not much to offer for her, this includes the kids club and many of the park attractions. I would recommend it for families with older kids over 120cm height.
The whole complex is enormous, you can take a day just to see everything it has to offer. Lots of food options, everything we tried was great, specially the japanese restaurant. Buses to the parks are constant and we didn't have to wait long.
