Noisy during Chinese New Year as it is on the street. Whoever designed the fittings in the bathroom and the electrical system should go back to school- they are incredibly difficult to use/understand as they are "very modern".

Centrally located, large room, very good staff

The door to the room is a little tough to open. Even the staff we requested help from could not open it 😄 Still love this charming place ❤️ Will return definitely

The staff were warm and the service impeccable. Every detail is well thought through. Love the buzzling surroundings. Highly recommend 👌🏼

World Class Service at boutique hotel- Penang’s Best Kept Secret!

my room was a little small but it had everything I needed, including a wonderful view of Penang!

Fabulous location!! Incredibly filling breakfast!! World class customer service (concierge, butler rolled into one). So grateful to KC and the team. They helped me sort out so many things and were super responsive via WhatsApp— including helping me pick up a batik alteration before shop closed. 88 Armenian is quite possibly Penang’s best kept secret. Ideas for couples and solo travelers who want privacy, quiet, and ease of access to getting around to all major sites!! This is a boutique hotel so it is small and cute- not a ton of amenities but a truly wonderful spot to rest after a day of adventure. The bath butler was a super relaxing experience - really lovely teas and all that come with it.. I struggled a little bc it was warm out and the bath was even warmer but still a wonderful way to end the day relaxing in a fabulous tub!

Not a personal dislike but a general comment - keep in mind that this is a small boutique hotel and doesn't have some amenities you could expect in large hotels such as on-site laundry or a gym. The staff will be more than happy to provide you with contacts, though!

This hotel is an absolute gem - located inside the UNESCO World Heritage George Town old city centre and a stone's throw from most of the street art, the family jetties and most of the street food markets, it's a fantastic location for fellow foodies or culture connoisseurs looking to explore George Town on their own two feet. The rooms are modern (beware the touchpad menus if you're not tech-savvy, though) and very well furnished, with some of the comfiest beds I've had the pleasure to sleep in in the last decade. The experience is topped off by truly brilliant staff - from before our visit until the very last minute of our stay, the team made sure that our stay at the hotel (which was part of our SE Asia honeymoon tour) was truly special. A shout out to Suet Chin (for the pre-planning and arranging of transfers and a food tour guide), and KC and AiTee for looking after us on-site, including an initial 15-minute briefing on the hotel and George Town with many, many recommendations. Appreciated the turndown service and the small goodies we found in our room each evening - from the coconut cookies to the iced tea and the bath butler service! Whenever we'll be back to Penang, we're sure to visit again!

The clothes hangers are aesthetically pleasing but not so user-friendly. Otherwise, there is nothing that we can pick on.

A building that stands out from crowd in the heart of Georgetown. This hotel is strategically located where most attractions and sought-after eateries are within walking distance. Staffs were very helpful (with just anything), friendly and professional. We had nutmeg based beverage as welcome drinks that my niece surprisingly enjoyed and wanted more while listening to briefing on local delicacies and attractions along with the background story of the hotel upon check-in. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. The complimentary bath butler service is a must-try experience especially after a long day. Lovely breakfast with varieties, we like the fresh fruits. Of course, Netflix, and particularly Spotify with B&O speaker made the entire stay even more enjoyable.

We had an incredible stay. The level of service and quality is the same as any major high-end 5* hotel and perhaps even better as its more personalised being a boutique. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. Everything was perfect from the beautiful room, bath butler service (with speciality tea and chocolates), daily local snacks in the room, turndown service, Aesop toiletries and advice on what to do in Penang. Breakfast was delicious, changed daily and was even tailored to one of us being lactose-intolerant. Thank you very much!

The 88 Armenian has the ideal location within Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Zone - only few steps from all major tourist destinations within the historic centre, at the same time situated in a calmer section of famous Armenian Street. We were - once more - overwhelmed by the exclusiveness of the luxurious boutique hotel, a pearl of modern interior architecture within a colonial-time edifice. This was due to many reasons: A total of only 6 rooms overall, the individualized and always attentive service Lawrence provided, the extremely high quality of furniture, bathroom equipment and decoration, the lovely bathroom amenities, the extensive complimentary minibar and snack selection, daily tea time and breakfast delicacies etc. Also, the room was cleaned thoroughly on a daily base, night-time greetings handed out every evening and daily, very friendly and personal chats with Lawrence made us feel like home. At times, the street noises became a bit of an obstacle to sleeping due to the lack of noise protection, but the muezzin's prayer calls in the morning somehow even added to the already magical atmosphere. Thank you, Lawrence and the entire team of 88 Armenian including Suet Chin, who managed the pre-communication in such lovely ways, for having us experience true luxury!

The 88 is on the most beautiful street in Georgetown. It’s very central and a short walk to most of the destinations that you’d want to see in Penang. Our host was extremely helpful and the hotel itself is incredible - a beautifully preserved colonial building.

The room is smaller than our expectation - not for the kind of money we paid. The bathroom door was not working properly. In fact it is very dangerous. Imagine a person is alone and locked inside the bathroom. There is NO phone in the bathroom OR the room in general. The staff take away the shower salt without letting us know. And he was reluctant to give us more shower gel even though we asked.

I like the atmosphere of the hotel. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The famous attractions were nearby from the hotel. This was very convenient for us. The breakfast was very generous with many local tastes. Big bed, Big bathroom and Big TV in a Small Room!
