How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

They started charging flat rate for car park. It’s kind of a turn off since the hotel upkeep isn’t that great so the free parking has always been the only + point for me

The wifi was very weak in the room, there were also no amenities and no water provided in the room. The bedsheets and pillow cases were clean, but had a very musty smell.
The location is good, right above a mall, with a lot of restaurants , shops and a supermarket.

breakfast - food were cold, even the porridge. can skip paying for breakfast. Room - AC works well, bed is ok. but the condition of the room is quite run down. Towels had holes. Nobody came to clean our room at at all throughout our stay.

The web room booking offers were not genuine and misleading ……several times after selection of the room ; the message came out that the offer is no longer available. The next higher room rate offers also has the same program “ modus operandi “ to push to select a higher price rate …..it was like a scam offer .

It is very sad to see the hotel a bit run down here and there. I hope the hotel management will give some considerations to refurbish the rooms and also to improve the condition of the hotel building.
The main reason we selected Empire Hotel Subang to hold our event was due to its good location. The hotel is located above the shopping mall, and a lot of parking lots available in the building. Since the early year of its operation, we always give this hotel priority to hold any company or family events.

A lot of the items in the room need to be cleaned and upgraded . Breakfast staff was not responsive - but it was day 1 of Raya

The room was not properly maintained. Shower Faucet is faulty. Bathtub water discharge choked. Safe nor working, cups dirty and stained, not cleaned thoroughly nor replaced. The fridge is not cold (old and not replaced). No proper oversight and inspection by supervisors of the room. Daily parking charges for hotel guests are annoying. There is no option to exclude Breakfast. Breakfast food is similar every day and food is not kept warm.
The Hotel and the adjacent NuEmpire Mall is the most attractive and convenient for hotel guests for shopping and F&B. In a central location in Subang Jaya.

no one informed me that there was a renovation going on. It was noisy and hard to get taxi. i was not given the room that i wanted but was given breakfast in exchange.

When making a reservation, I had requested a high-level floor room and also indicated check-in between 4 and 5 o'clock. I arrived at about 5 o'clock. The high-level floor room was not ready, so he randomly arranged for me to go to the lower-floor room which the view is facing the neighbor apartment. I asked to change rooms. He replied to me that if you want a high-level floor room, you have to wait, and his attitude was unfriendly. I was dumbfounded at the moment. Did I make your work more difficult? I have indicated this in advance when booking, but your room is not ready and you don't even offer a basic apology. What kind of service is this? In the end, I was just assigned to mid-level accommodation. Reception staff's face always shown black and cool. No even polite.
