Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeds were a bit hard and the lack of insulation between rooms was a bit off-putting, but these minor comments are outweighed by the amazing staff there.
All of the staff encountered were so friendly and eager to help at every opportunity. The range of activities offered was also good and certainly enough for our stay there (2 days, 3 nights)

MalaysiaFor some reason, they kept turning off WiFi router which was super annoying when we needed to book accommodations for another trip at 10pm (time sensitive, late time because of time difference).
Clean, comfortable rooms. Cairo was a great guide on the river. Food was generally pretty good, which is great when you don't really have other options. Quiet!

United KingdomIf you email the lodge they can arrange a taxi from the airport or Sandakan for RM300. The journey takes 2.5 hours. Make sure you take plenty of insect repellent and buy a sims card in Sandakan for RM30 as the WIFI is poor. You can only buy coke RM3 or Beer RM12 at the lodge. If you want anything stronger then bring your own. You might also want want to bring some snacks. The lodge provides free tea and coffee all day. The breakfast is cereals, toast, tea or coffee, fried eggs and noodles. We paid extra for lunch and dinner ever day. The dinner was rice or noodles, 2 veg dishes, chicken or beef dish, and fruit. The staff were fantastic and we can recommend the boat trip. You can take a half hour trip around the small village by the river on your own.

SlovakiaYou can hear every sound from the neighbours room, you don't even have to set up the alarm clock for the early morning cruise because the neighbours will definetly wake you up :)
Nice cottages in the forest, walking distance to the river for the cruises.

United Kingdom- no working WiFi, including in the ‘main’ building. This meant we couldn’t pay using our cards which meant one of us had to get cash out on the last day which wasn’t ideal. - our rooms were up a very steep (though short) hill - wouldn’t be suitable for anyone with mobility issues (was ok for us). - Bar wasn’t stocked when we arrived - only Cokes were available. They got some beers and other soft drinks later on the second day. - a cabinet of board games, card games, dominoes etc would be a great addition to the common space as if you cannot do the scheduled activities or whatever reason it’s quite hard to fill the time as you are literally in the middle of nowhere (without wifi) - in the rooms, there are a lot of power points too high up to use and in our room (7) the cord to the kettle doesn’t reach the power socket - we also had no running water to rooms 7/8 on our last night, though it turned back on at around 3 am - I’d imagine this is pretty standard for somewhere so remote but worth keeping in mind when trip planning.
- Staff are all lovely and really helpful - Citi is so keen to make sure you have a good stay and is just great. - The guides, Aslan and Kairo, were also fantastic and very knowledgeable. The river cruises are really amazing, and one of our group enjoyed her walk up the hill with Kairo a lot. The nice thing is you’re never in a big group - I think the most they take in one boat is ten - so you can easily ask questions and talk to the guides. Looked much more pleasant than some of the bigger boats we saw which were much larger groups. - The rooms are clean. - It’s a lovely setting. - Easy drive from Sepilok or Sandakan airport (they arranged this for us). - We did the Batik painting which we really enjoyed. - Food was nice and they catered well for our friend who doesn’t eat meat. Meals are a little expensive compared with everywhere else we ate in Borneo.

United KingdomFood was mediocre. Didn’t mind the lack of choice but could have had more for breakfast like fruit. Room was not cleaned during the two day stay.
The staff were just lovely and friendly. Aslan, our guide, was just so helpful. Really enjoyed interacting with them all and this made the stay enjoyable even if the facilities were a bit worn. Loved the boat tours and little trip up the hill.

United KingdomNothing as such - it was a positive experience Access to wifi would have been good (we did use the host's hotspot), and we walked to the local village and managed to get online from the shared community pylon! :-)
The people were good, the events put on were ver good (river trip and hike up the local hill) The accommodation was clean and comfortable - a few creepy crawlies but what do you expect in the jungle? Breakfast was fine too

BelgiumThe food was for us a bit monotonous, but the staff did what they could with what they had. The rooms were ok, the airco was a bit noisy and we could hear the neighbors through the wall.
The guide (Aslan) was an exceptional person. He really made our activities worth it. The activities themselves were great as well. We particularly enjoyed the boat cruises.

NetherlandsToo far from cities, other entertainment points, without own car it is difficult to reach out different places
Sitia (not sure if her name is spelled correctly here) is amazing and very attentive. She gave a full briefing of our stay and what activities we could use. The hotel itself is in nature, so you can be fully "disconnected" from civilization and be wrapped in nature sounds like rain, birds chirping, and total piece.

Lovely and plentiful food, mainly Asian biased. Quiet location. Short walk to river. Staff were super friendly and charming. Lots of activities to choose from but you need the correct clothing, ie long sleeves, socks and walking boots. Leeches are on the trails and hikes.

MalaysiaThe prices for dinner was exorbitant, at RM35 per person for rice and dishes. We had to pay for it since the resort was in the middle of nowhere and there are no restaurants within reachable distance.
An excellent resort, especially the night/morning river cruise guide who was able to spot out all kinds of animals with his naked eyes from a great distance, greatly enhancing the overall experience.

United KingdomWe had an amazing few days here, the staff are exceptional and we booked a few tours led by the brilliant Aslan (whose talent for guiding is very instinctive). My partner was unwell and we were really well looked after, and the dinners were delicious. Highly recommended instead of the 3N4D packages nearby, which didn't offer flexibility

GermanyThe WiFi was a little bit slow, so better bring your own SIM.
We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and cosy. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. But the real highlight was our tour guide. He showed us so much. We saw 4 of the big 5 (we came 2 months too late for the elephants) on our first river cruise only. So we could focus on the rich world of other monkeys, birds and trees on our other treks and cruises. What a unforgettable trip. Thank you very much!
